Built in 1956 right on the beach at beautiful Alligator Point this house has that Old Florida beach cottage charm. Thanks to a complete renovation in 2009 it has all of the modern comforts. This house is perfect for a couple looking for a romantic getaway yet has enough room for a few kids. This cozy cottage offers a beach experience unlike any other. It is far removed from public beach access ensuring a relaxing getaway year round.

Perfect location no stairs walkway to the beach.
Everything you want in a quiet place right on the beach. No constant people coming and going just perfect for a relaxing vacation.
Great accomodations at Somewhere in the Sun
Enjoyed the facility amenities and the view of the beach, great weather. Only problem was the weed "Stinging Nettles" along the walkway to the beach, stings like fire ant bites when feet hit the tiny thorns on the plant stalk and leaves.
Perfect cottage on the beach
This was our second stay and we will stay again. You can see the ocean from nearly every room. I enjoyed drinking my morning coffee out on the deck listening to the ocean waves and watching the dolphins & seabirds before my morning walk.
We had a great stay... again 😎
Perfect cottage for a small family
This place was exactly what my husband and I wanted for taking our two babies to the beach. Direct beach acces, no crowds, peaceful (as can be with two little ones), and just the right size cottage for us. We loved everything about this place and location so much we’re planning to return next year. We loved that we could set up our beach tent and leave it for the week. Our daughters loved the wagon rides on the beach and we loved being away from the chaos of big touristy beaches. My only complaint is the very long drive it takes us to get to Florida from Kentucky. Can’t wait to come back! Thanks for opening your home to our little family!
Peace and Quiet!
We wanted a home where we could get away and collect our thoughts and relax. That is exactly what we got! First of all, it's an adorable home with lots of natural light and a big comfy bed that we slept well in. The house has everything you need. The kitchen is fully stocked with all supplies you will need to make a large meal which is what we did a few times. The grill outside is very nice, we used it twice. We knew stores were limited so we stopped at Winn Dixie in Crawfordville and bought some of the best T-bone steaks we ever had. We wanted to try the hot tub, but the weather was so hot and humid, getting in a hot tub was just not going to happen. I imagine it would be fantastic another season besides summer. There is a lot of sea life in the ocean at Alligator Point and the water isn't clear like you find in Destin or further up the gulf. I opted not to swim but I saw many other people who did without trouble. The beach fishing in front of the house is phenomenal. My husband asked me for an unpopulated location that was quiet where he could fish and I delivered! He caught 50+ fish there the entire week, many different sizes and species of shark, ladyfish, catfish and spanish mackerel. One day we decided to travel over to St. George island and St. Joe Peninsula. Both beautiful but the bugs will eat you up on St. George! We ate dinner that day at Red Pirate in Appalachacola and it was the best seafood we had during our stay. We also had Tropical Trader in Panacea and it was pretty good, too. We left early because my dog became ill (incredibly homesick) but we didn't know what was wrong at the time as he is new to our family. Hugh was nice enough to text and check on him after we got home.
If you need the hubub of activity that can be found in Charleston, Myrtle Beach or Panama City, Alligator Point won't be for you. There are no shopping malls, (no Waves stores). It is pretty much desolate and perfect for book reading and having nearly all the beach to yourself. This would be a fantastic mediation spot and the upper deck on the property would be perfect for yoga. It's quiet, calm and inviting.
Simple but great view of the water
If your looking for a simple getaway with a beach view this is a great house. It has a nice view and a great deck to sit on and watch the waves. The kitchen could use an updated stove. The bedroom is connected to the living area with an accordion door so there isn't much privacy if your with others. The house has the pretty much what you need for a great time!
I did have another guest mention the stove as well. In spite of it being in good working condition I went ahead and replaced it with a brand new one July 30, 2018. I value feedback from guests and try to keep the house as appealing as possible. Being able to cook meals at home is a must so this one was an easy decision.
You are correct about the accordion doors - they do offer a limited amount of privacy IF there are a lot of people in the house. The upside to them is that when you open them you have a beautiful view of the gulf from the bed of the master bedroom. It makes the house a very popular option for a romantic getaway for two!
Alligator Point contains miles of untouched white sand beaches, sea oat covered sand dunes, Bald Point State park a 5,000 acre protected wildlife area nationally acclaimed as a bi-annual stopover for migrating birds and butterflies, hiking trails, bicycling, kayaking, full service marina, boat ramps, fishing charters, tiki bar. You will not find crowds, strip malls and amusement parks – this is classic Old Florida on the Forgotten Coast!
A few miles north towards Panacea there are seafood restaurants, a liquor store, fresh seafood markets and a small grocery store.
