THE CONDO:

Our condominium has one bedroom and one bath. You may ski-in and ski-out. The unit sleeps up to six with a queen bed, a queen sleeper sofa and a queen Murphy wall bed in the living room. The condo is very comfortable for four guests. These are nonsmoking accommodations and we do not allow pets. We are on the fourth floor with elevator access, a covered parking garage, and a deck. Our condominium is among the nicest and best equipped one bedroom units in Winter Park. When you are not out on the snow, you may enjoy watching DVDs, listening to the Bose stereo or making an espresso on the Solis espresso machine. You will find down comforters on the beds. The kitchen was remodeled with Italian cabinets, German appliances, and CaesarStone counters. There is free wireless internet access in the condo. We accept payments by check, Visa, Master Card, American Express Discover Card or PayPal.

THE IRON HORSE RESORT:

The Iron Horse is located at the base of the mountain in the pine forest between the Winter Park and the Mary Jane sides of the ski area. The resort has an indoor-outdoor pool and two large hot tubs. We have a fitness center with weight room, a variety of cardio machines and a steam room. The restaurant is open for dinner and weekend brunch during the ski season. They serve great Italian food. There is an excellent ski shop on site. A short bridge attaches our building to the Corridor ski run. The Corridor run connects the base of Mary Jane with the base of Winter Park. If you are not skiing, the condo is a short walk or shuttle bus ride to the base village.

THE SKI AREA:

Colorado is famous for its world class skiing. Winter Park is the third largest ski area in Colorado. The GORP guide to Colorado skiing says Winter Park’s terrain is 'grandiose and varied.' Winter Park offers three main peaks topped by a vast snowfield. Total skiable area is 3,081 acres which encompasses 143 designated trails and 1,212 acres of off-piste terrain including Vasquez Cirque and glade skiing. Average snowfall in Winter Park is 359 inches per year. We get more snow on average than Vail, Beaver Creek, Aspen, Snowmass, Steamboat, Telluride, Crested Butte, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Copper Mountain.

We have a terrific variety of terrain: beginner areas, bowl skiing, trees and chutes. Mary Jane is consistently rated as having the best mogul skiing in North America.

The base of the area is at 9,000 feet. The summit is 12,060 feet. The runs are 56% expert, 36% intermediate/advanced and 8% beginner. There is a massive terrain park with half pipe, rails and enormous jumps. There are also separate beginner and intermediate terrain parks. There are 25 lifts including 2 High Speed Six Person Chairlifts, 7 High-Speed Express Quads, 4 Triple Chairlifts, 6 Double Chairlifts, 3 Surface Lifts, a rope tow and 3 Magic Carpets. The ski and boarding school is first-rate. The National Sports Center for the Disabled at Winter Park is the premier skiing and boarding program in the world for people with disabilities.

Winter Park has long been a favorite of Colorado natives. For the destination skier, we offer fine lodging, tremendous skiing and a family friendly atmosphere at a price substantially less than you would pay in Vail or Aspen.

SUMMER:

What can you do at a ski area during the summer? You can mountain bike on over 600 miles of trails. The ski area has the longest alpine slide in Colorado. The village also offers miniature golf, disc golf, climbing walls and chair lift rides. We are close to golf courses (Pole Creek, Grand Lake, Grand Elk and Granby Ranch Headwaters). There are mountain bike races, music festivals, rodeos, boating, sailing, river rafting, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, climbing, balloon tours, and hot springs pools. Rocky Mountain National Park is nearby. If you like to fly fish, there are 20 miles of gold medal trout water on the Colorado River about half an hour from the condo. Winter Park, the Frasier Valley and Grand County are gorgeous and relaxed in the summer.

About The Owner

We purchased the condominium in 2004 for our family of four avid skiers. We wanted to be able to go skiing and park the car for a week, ski in for lunch, and have convenient access to a pool, hot tubs and a good restaurant. We started renting through VRBO for the 2004-2005 ski season.

Our sons are now in their 20's and became outstanding skiers on Winter Park and Mary Jane. I have enjoyed volunteering at the National Sports Center for the Disabled over the last 23 years. It has been great to share Winter Park as a family.

Why The Owner chose Winter Park Area

We especially enjoy the Iron Horse Resort property because we can ski in and out. We don't have to pay for parking or haul ski gear to the slopes. We appreciate the heated garage. We like being able to come in to the condo for lunch. We enjoy the pool and hot tubs. The full kitchen allows us to get as ambitious as we like with cooking. The restaurant is very good and convenient for the evenings we would rather not cook.

During the twelve years we have owned the condo, we have improved it each year. These changes have included a new kitchen, carpet, paint, leather couch, leather recliner, mattress replacement, stereo, TV, espresso machine, and bathroom counter. We think the result is a comfortable modern condo that reflects our preference for a ski place that has all the conveniences without clutter.

Great Place!

The owner was just Great at communicating. Dale texted and was the most informative... His condo was full of great new updates in the kitchen and the Murphy Bed was comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment to cook for our stay..

Only complaints and probably he did not know was that the bathroom was a bit dirty.. and there wwere only 2 rolls of toilet paper for our stay.. but that is ok. We went to buy more, and the older humidifier was broken. Also a light bulb was burnt out in the bedroom so the corner we had no light. .. But either or GREAT CONDO for a little family :)

Excellent Holiday Stay

Very comfortable condo for family of 4 including two elementary school age children. Ski in ski out access meant lunches together in the condo, with those who wanted more skiing able to go out after lunch, and those who didn't with option to swim or use the game room. Tenant improvements were of good quality. The on premises restaurant is closed, but you can walk down to the village area or drive to town for dinner. Note that there is no laundry in the condo, but there are laundry machines and dryers on the second floor. Overall I would highly recommend for a Winter Park ski vacation.

Great ski in & out condo

If you want an great condo, with everything you want, this is it. Everything that we needed they had. Rent skis at on the first floor. With this condo on the fourth floor, all you have to do is go up one flight of stairs and you are out on the ski slopes. Just that simple. You will enjoy your stay here. Looking forward to coming back to Winter Park again and again.

Great ski condo

This was a very convenient ski in/out condo. Big enough for our family of 4 but very tight with both the Murphy bed down and couch out. Really room for one or the other. Kitchen was very nice and updated. Everything worked wonderfully and had everything we needed. Thanks!
