Two secured storage room are available at the 5th floor skiing exit for skis and boots so you won't need to take them back to the room every time you ski. Our location is perfect for taking a break from skiing for a snack or lunch, avoiding the high costs, lines, steps, and other hassles at the base areas. Skiing in from the base of Mary Jane run - using the Mary Jane run - is easier than ever before.

NEW FOR THE 2018-19 ski season is a state-of-the-art snowmaking system and 10-person gondolas, replacing the old Zephyr lift. Winter Park promises a 50% increase in lift capacity for the gondolas, greatly reducing wait times for your first time up the mountain.

Along with the built-in queen-sized Murphy bed we have two twin-sized Lazyboy hide-a-beds. The decor is warm, comfortable, always PERFECTLY clean, and fun, including a clean, thermostatically-controlled gas fireplace. The kitchen is fully-equipped, with premium-quality cookware, utensils, knives, dishes and glassware, a full-sized refrigerator/freezer, a glass-topped range/oven, and dishwasher. The flat-screen TV receives Comcast cable and has a Blu-Ray DVD player connected. The condo has a full bath with a shower tub; body wash, shampoo, conditioner and a hair dryer are provided. Several popular board games (such as Scrabble, Clue, Yahtzee, Boggle), a deck of cards, a poker book and puzzles are available in the room.

The balcony and windows are directly over the pool and hot tubs, with a great southeastern view of the beautiful pines covering the mountainsides nearby, all the way up to treeline and a view of the Continental Divide. The building has free wi-fi Internet access. We also have Winter Park and Colorado travel guides for your stay. There is a big wall-mounted map of the Winter Park and Mary Jane ski areas in the condo, and the map includes a QR code you can scan to download the ski area map to a smartphone before you ski.

Location and Skiing Access: The Iron Horse Resort's ski bridge to the Corridor Run is located outside the 5th floor, half way between the base of Mary Jane ski area and the base of Winter Park. Skiers ski out, down the Corridor Run to the new gondolas or chair lifts at the Winter Park base and ski in from Mary Jane. In the early Fall, Spring and Summer, the Corridor is usually a dry walking path, with easy access to the Winter Park base area restaurants, a Starbucks, and shops just 1/3 of a mile away, less than a ten-minute walk.

The Iron Horse Resort is actually IN the Arapahoe National Forest, surrounded by tall pines - which can be seen in the pictures - offering seclusion from the traffic and commotion of the base area.

The Iron Horse has a fully-enclosed, secure parking garage - free for every guest - an indoor-outdoor pool, two oversized outdoor hot tubs, spa facilities, a complete fitness center with TV, fully-equipped locker rooms with HOT, clean steam rooms, and a Breeze ski shop on-site - for equipment rentals and all kinds of Winter gear; They offer a 25% discounts for Iron Horse guests.

Colorado is famous for its its amazing array of skiing options. Winter Park offers three main peaks, with a total skiable area of 3,060 acres for downhill skiing, snowboarding, and even some runs available for ski-biking at night! There are 144 trails available to skiers of all ability levels. Winter Park usually gets much more snow than most other ski areas in the state. With new snowmaking equipment for 2018-19, skiing may start in early November and extend to late April.

The Mary Jane ski area - which is connected to the Winter Park area - has some of the best mogul skiing in North America and several long ski runs that start well above treeline, with terrain that is perfect for intermediate to advanced skiers.

Winter Park is a town that has very comfortable, relaxed, authentic feel. A wide variety of restaurants are available, ranging from the basics, like McDonalds and Subway, to mid-scale bistros and brewpubs, to fine dining. Great barbecue, handcrafted pizzas, gourmet hot dogs, steaks, seafood, and Asian foods can all be found in downtown Winter Park. A convenient full-service grocery store recently opened in downtown Winter Park, Fireside Market & Eatery

Surrounded by the Arapahoe Forest, Iron Horse has a very pleasing setting for summertime visits. Gas grills and outdoor chairs and tables are available for Iron Horse guests. There is an attractive gazebo adjacent to a pond, with a pleasant brook running through the property.

The Winter Park area is a great place to escape the heat of the summer, while engaging in a range of casual to extreme outdoor activities. Great hiking, biking, and running trails abound, for all levels of personal fitness - with easy access from Iron Horse. The area offers opportunities for nature hikes, bike rides, wildlife viewing, and photography. The base area of Winter Park offers chair lift rides and chair lifts for exciting, hair-raising mountain biking, as well as miniature golf, disc golf, climbing walls, and the longest Alpine Slide in the state. Several excellent golf courses are nearby, giving golfers a chance to hit the longest drives in their lives, since the altitude is over 9,000 feet! Water-related sports and activities include boating, sailing, river rafting, kayaking, fresh water fishing, ice fishing, fly fishing, and hot springs pools. Hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing are available. A new bowling alley and 2-plex movie theater - The Foundry - opened in Winter Park in July 2012. Rocky Mountain National Park is nearby offering additional hiking, sightseeing, stream and lake fishing, nature and wildlife viewing, picnics, and other outdoor activities. At an elevation of almost two miles, Winter Park is a great summertime destination for activities ranging from EXTREME relaxation to EXTREME workouts - which could include training at high altitude in order to achieve a personal best in a 10K run, biking events, a triathlon, half marathon, marathon or ultramarathon - especially for events that are held at lower altitudes!

Why Marc Miller chose Winter Park

Living in metro Denver for many years, we've visited vacation destinations all over the state. We prefer Winter Park for its easy access - with no need to drive through the busy Interstate 70 tunnels, but also because it is casual, comfortable, and laid-back. The scenery is spectacular and we always feel far-removed from metro Denver at Winter Park. We chose the Iron Horse Resort because it is the ultimate SKI-IN SKI-OUT property - but also wonderful to visit year-round. Within Iron Horse, our treetop, east-facing unit on the 5th floor is the ideal location - just a walk down the hall takes you directly to the ski Corridor run, for the best possible ski-in ski-out access, as well as starting a walk, run or hike in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Iron Horse is nestled in the Arapahoe forest, but the Winter Park base area and all its amenities - including Starbucks and several nice dining choices - is just a short walk away.

What makes this condo unique

Iron Horse visitors can relax completely, in pleasing surroundings - secluded from the busy Mary Jane and Winter Park base areas and the town of Winter Park. Peacefulness and relaxation are main benefits of the Iron Horse, but visitors can play hard and work out hard. What better way to reward a day on the slopes, a 20-mile bike ride, or a 5-mile high altitude training run, than to have a spa treatment on-site, jump into the steam rooms or outdoor hot tubs? At the Iron Horse visitors can prepare a home-cooked meal in the full-service kitchen in their condo, or dine in the Iron Horse's full-service LaCollina restaurant (open during the ski season). The 5th floor at the Iron Horse is absolutely perfect for skiers- but also anyone wishing to take advantage of the many outdoor activities and resort facilities available at the Iron Horse Resort.

Great location and communication

  • 5 of 5

We stay in Winterpark a few times a year and this was the first at Iron house. We loved the outdoor poor and hot tubs. The location was about a 5-10 minute walk to the village (Starbucks, food, chair lifts, etc.)

The units do not have air conditioning but there was a fan and we brought our own fan as well. This is Colorado in the summer where the temperature goes from 40 to 80 degrees in a day so the air conditioning isn’t really necessary.

Also, I booked so quickly on the app that I didn’t realize there was a cleaning fee and booking fee which added an additional $125 to the total stay. That was totally my fault and I’m only mentioning it in my review to help other busy people like myself who missed those details.

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

Marc's East facing condo was a perfect place for our family of 3 to stay for the week! Very clean, comfortable and well maintained. The views from the balcony were amazing to wake up to as the sun rose, or as the sun set and the colors played across the mountains. We'll definitely book again for next summer. Thank you, Marc!

Great location - Awesome owners - Easy to access - Way too hot to actually sleep

  • 4 of 5

The owners of this property were very easy to work with. They were incredibly laid back about check-in/out, which made our weekend so simple! The location of this condo was also perfect! Exactly what we were hoping for. The space itself was clean, ready for us, and just what we were looking for. The only downfall, it appears that there was heat in the condo (gas fireplace), but no cooling of any nature. Usually, air conditioning is not needed in the mountains, so not a huge deal; but there was also no fan to speak of. We definitely didn't sleep at all since this room is on the top floor of the building and was so hot, even with the windows open, that we were sweating all night long. I definitely recommend staying here, but I also definitely recommend bringing your own fan!

Owner's Response: While this guest has many nice things to say, this review was disappointing & wrong! The guest said the room was hot "because there is heat (a gas fireplace) but no fan". First, in the summertime the pilot light in the condo is always extinguished, so it absolutely does not introduce any heat in the condo whatsoever; zero. Second, and more important, OF COURSE THE CONDO HAS A FAN, in the cabinet right next to the front door (which other guests gave always found). In addition, I also keep a secondn backup fan available on site - just in case the condo fan is no longer working - so 2 fans are actually available! Prior to each stay I ALWAYS invite guests to contact me any time by phone or email if a need arises - in case anything unexpected happens - but this guest stayed just one night and I never heard about the condo not having a fan and... "... I definitely recommend bringing your own fan" - until I read the review. Uggh! If I was contacted this guest could have easily set up the fan to circulate Winter Parks refreshing mountain air the night she stayed - where the low temp was 37 degrees!!! I am disappointed when guests have any negative experience whatsoever but it this case the review was inaccurate & undeserved.

Cozy and clean, slope-side, hot tub and sauna, free parking, too!

  • 5 of 5

My family had a wonderful stay at this studio condo in early April 2018. It is clean and cozy--just right for 2 adults and two teenagers. Truly slope-side with free underground parking. Also, a wonderful hot tub and sauna downstairs. The Murphy bed was both functional and comfortable. The kitchen well stocked with everything. The ski storage room convenient and few steps away from the trail. The owner was super helpful and even provided a detailed information about local restaurants and attractions. I highly recommend staying here if you are planning on skiing at Winter Park. The snow conditions were the best we ever experienced. Just wonderful! Nothing to complaint about and that says a lot coming from a NJ family. Thank you for letting us stay at your place.
