COMFY studio on the MOST DESIRABLE 5th floor with DIRECT ski-in ski out access: Iron Horse is built into a steep ridge where 5th floor units have the easiest possible access to the ski Corridor run - just down the hall, no need to climb stairs inside or use the elevators. A secured storage room for skis and boots is located inside the 5th floor door so you won't need to take them back to the room every time you ski. Our location is perfect for taking a break from skiing for a snack or lunch, avoiding the high costs, lines, steps, and other hassles at the base areas. Ski out directly to the Zephyr lift at the Winter park base area; ski in from the base of Mary Jane.

We have two new twin-sized Lazyboy hide-a-beds in the unit along with the queen-sized Murphy bed, for sleeping four people. The decor is warm, comfortable, always PERFECTLY clean, and fun, including a clean, thermostatically-controlled gas fireplace. The kitchen is fully-equipped, with premium-quality cookware, utensils, knives, dishes and glassware, a full-sized refrigerator/freezer, a glass-topped range/oven, and dishwasher. The flat-screen TV receives Comcast cable and has an easy-to-use Blu-Ray DVD player connected. The unit features a full bath with a shower tub. Several games, a deck of cards, a poker book and a few puzzles are available in the room for your stay. The balcony and windows are directly over the pool and hot tubs, with a great southeastern view of the beautiful pines covering the mountainsides nearby, all the way up to treeline and a view of the Continental Divide - just look at the pictures! The building has free wi-fi Internet access. We also have Winter Park and Colorado travel guides for your stay. There is a big wall-mounted map of the Winter Park and Mary Jane ski areas in the condo, and the map includes a QR code you can scan to download the ski area map to a smartphone before you ski.

IRON HORSE RESORT:

Location and Skiing Access: The Iron Horse Resort's ski bridge to the Corridor Run is located outside the 5th floor, half way between the base of Mary Jane ski area and the base of Winter Park. Skiers ski out, down the Corridor Run to the main Zephyr lift at the base of Winter Park and ski in from the base of Mary Jane. In the Spring, Summer, and early Fall the Corridor is usually a dry walking path, with easy access to the Winter Park base area.

The Iron Horse Resort is actually IN the Arapahoe National Forest! The property is surrounded by tall pines - which can be seen in the pictures posted for this unit. The location offers seclusion from traffic and the base area - with the Winter Park base area just one-third of a mile (one-half a kilometer) away.

The Iron Horse is a true resort offering a fully-enclosed, secure parking garage, an indoor-outdoor pool, two oversized outdoor hot tubs, spa facilities, a complete fitness center with TV, adjacent, fully-equipped locker rooms with HOT, clean steam rooms, garage parking, and an on-site ski shop - including equipment rentals and all kinds of Winter gear and clothing.

THE SKI AREA:

Colorado is famous for its its amazing array of skiing options. Winter Park offers three main peaks, with a total skiable area of 3,060 acres for downhill skiing, snowboarding, and even some runs available for ski-biking at night! There are 143 trails available to skiers of all ability levels. Winter Park usually gets much more snow than most other ski areas in the state.

The Mary Jane ski area - which is connected to the Winter Park area - has some of the best mogul skiing in North America, and terrain that is perfect for intermediate to advanced skiers.

Winter Park is a town that has very comfortable, relaxed, authentic feel. A wide variety of restaurants are available, ranging from the basics, like McDonalds and Subway, to mid-scale bistros and brewpubs, to fine dining. Great barbecue, handcrafted pizzas, gourmet hot dogs, steaks, seafood, and Asian foods can all be found in downtown Winter Park. La Collina Restaurant - open at Iron Horse during the Winter ski season - consistently receives very positive reviews from its guests.

SUMMERTIME ACTIVITIES:

Surrounded by the Arapahoe Forest, Iron Horse has a very pleasing setting for summertime visits. Gas grills and outdoor chairs and tables are available for Iron Horse guests. There is an attractive gazebo adjacent to a pond, with a brook running through the property.

The Winter Park area is a great place to escape the heat of the summer, while engaging in a range of casual to extreme outdoor activities. Great hiking, biking, and running trails abound, for all levels of personal fitness - with easy access from Iron Horse. The area offers opportunities for nature hikes, wildlife viewing, and photography. The base area of Winter Park offers chair lift rides and chair lifts for exciting, hair-raising mountain biking, as well as miniature golf, disc golf, climbing walls, and the longest Alpine Slide in the state. Several excellent golf courses are nearby, giving golfers a chance to hit the longest drives in their lives, since the altitude is over 9,000 feet! Water-related sports and activities include boating, sailing, river rafting, kayaking, fresh water fishing, ice fishing, fly fishing, and hot springs pools. Hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing are available. A new bowling alley and 2-plex movie theater - The Foundry - opened in Winter Park in July 2012. Rocky Mountain National Park is nearby offering additional hiking, sightseeing, stream and lake fishing, nature and wildlife viewing, picnics, and other outdoor activities. At an elevation of almost two miles, Winter Park is a great summertime destination for activities ranging from EXTREME relaxation to EXTREME workouts - which could include training at high altitude in order to achieve a personal best in a 10K run, biking events, a triathlon, half marathon, marathon or ultramarathon - especially for events that are held at lower altitudes!

Why Marc Miller chose Winter Park Area

Living in metro Denver for many years, we've visited vacation destinations all over the state. We prefer Winter Park for its easy access - with no need to drive through the busy Interstate 70 tunnels, but also because it is casual, comfortable, and laid-back. The scenery is spectacular and we always feel far-removed from metro Denver at Winter Park. We chose the Iron Horse Resort because it is the ultimate SKI-IN SKI-OUT property - but also wonderful to visit year-round. Within Iron Horse, our treetop, east-facing unit on the 5th floor is the ideal location - just a walk down the hall takes you directly to the ski Corridor run, for the best possible ski-in ski-out access, as well as starting a walk, run or hike in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Iron Horse is nestled in the Arapahoe forest, but the Winter Park base area and all its amenities - including Starbucks and several nice dining choices - is just a short walk away.

What makes this condo unique

Iron Horse visitors can relax completely, in pleasing surroundings - secluded from the busy Mary Jane and Winter Park base areas and the town of Winter Park. Peacefulness and relaxation are main benefits of the Iron Horse, but visitors can play hard and work out hard. What better way to reward a day on the slopes, a 20-mile bike ride, or a 5-mile high altitude training run, than to have a spa treatment on-site, jump into the steam rooms or outdoor hot tubs? At the Iron Horse visitors can prepare a home-cooked meal in the full-service kitchen in their condo, or dine in the Iron Horse's full-service LaCollina restaurant (open during the ski season). The 5th floor at the Iron Horse is absolutely perfect for skiers- but also anyone wishing to take advantage of the many outdoor activities and resort facilities available at the Iron Horse Resort.

Great Weekend Get Away!

We had a fantastic weekend in the condo. The location was great, loved the ski in/ski out! It was super to be able to have a quick lunch in the condo and hit the slopes again in the afternoon. Everything was clean and Marc was great to work with. We will definitely stay here again!

Best Customer Service and Ideal Ski-In-Ski-Out Ever

My wife and I had a great getaway the first weekend in Feb '15. We really enjoyed the location being on the resort, but away from the hustle around main village. Any concerns about dated cabinets vs other condos on VRBO become completely irrelevant when you understand how clean everything is, and most importantly how much Marc goes above and beyond the expectations for customer service in a sub-let rental transaction. Marc offered great responsiveness, some last minute flexibility, and took the time to stock the fridge with the beverage that I do marketing for. This completely surprised us and added a real sense of being at a resort that is sometimes lost with a condo experience vs staying in a hotel - that is having a sense of being taken care of.

I would rent from Marc again and highly recommend this condo posting to friends.

Awesome Ski Vacation

My wife and I spent 3-day glorious days at Marc's condo. All of Marc's instructions were perfect. On both of the days we had quite the extreme... 43 degrees with lots of snow and then the second day was a powder day. AWESOME! The whole weekend was relaxing. Thank you.

Easy Ski In-Out with Great Views

We spent a week in Marc's condo at the beginning of January. It was exactly as we expected from the description and pictures. It was a cozy fit for 4; with the pull down bed and pull-out La-z-boys it was easy to make room for socializing and also lounging after a long day. The loveseats are good sized, and two people can easily sit side by side on each. The unit has a very roomy kitchen with a good collection of utensils and pots, plates, etc, perfect if you like to cook your own meals. The dishwasher was also very useful. The bathroom sink is separate from the toilet and shower, which is convenient as well.

Accessing the unit was trouble free, just pull into the ground floor parking and take the elevator up. Getting to the Corridor trail was equally easy, walk down the hall and out. The trail is not very steep, but if you wax your board/skis regularly you won't have to skate. Once at the base, it's easy to hop on Zephyr lift and go on your way. Skiing back into the condo is easy via the Mary Jane Trail and then Corridor.

Iron Horse was very clean and well kept during our stay. The lobby area is great, nice leather chairs and couches with a big fireplace. The locker room was in great condition and offered showers, toilets, and a nice sauna. Two large hot tubs and a pool are available as well. The La Collina restaurant on the lobby level was great as well. All of us enjoyed our appetizers and entrees. It's a great way to "eat out" without going out. The food was portioned perfectly and delicious. Everything at the resort is run on keycodes, which is great. No need to carry a key or card with you to lose.

I would rate our stay a 10 out of 10. Being so close to the ski area was ideal, we barely needed to drive anywhere. The views from the windows and balcony were gorgeous, great to wake up to every morning. Very happy with the condo and Iron Horse as a whole, would stay here again no questions asked.

Excellent Getaway

My husband and I stayed at Marc's place in March 2014 for 3 nights. The condo exceeded expectations and was clean upon our arrival. Great location on the 5th floor and was great to ski-in for lunch and ski-out. Marc was very responsive and is a great owner, he gave us lots of helpful tips and tricks for our stay in Winter Park. The underground parking was an added bonus (especially since it snowed). Easy access to fitness center, pool and hot tubs were enjoyable. Would highly recommend and would stay there again in the future depending on availability.

Excellent Ski Condo

My wife and I stayed at Marc's place twice this season. Once in January and returned in February (4 nights each time). The condo exceeded expectations. Great location - easy to ski-in for lunch and ski-out. Clean and comfortable. Very delighted with the queen murphy bed - rested well each night after a day of skiing. Marc was very responsive and was a great owner. The underground parking was especially nice. Easy access to fitness center, pool and hot tubs was enjoyable. Would highly recommend and will always stay there in the future depending on availability.
