Amish built log cabin; 1 bedroom, with loft nestled in a private wood setting.
Why Owner/Property Manager chose Viroqua
We purchased this land in 2006 in an area where I grew up as a child. The farm like country atmosphere in southwest Wisconsin is where we had the log cabin built in 2010. The enjoyment of sitting on the deck in the morning with a cup of coffee and listen to the birds sing says it all.

September Get Away
Really enjoyed our stay at the Squirrel Ridge Cabin. Cabin was clean, well stocked, and in great location for a short get-away. We would definitely recommend the cabin to anyone looking for a vacation rental. We are hoping to return sometime in the future. We also enjoyed the visits from the owners friendly cat, Cannonball. the cabin was very nice. owners were friendly. very friendly cat that hardly left the property which was a bit bothersome due to cat allergies.
Very nice cabin for relaxing get-away
Cabin was very clean and well presented. Decor was tasteful-- appropriate to a cabin, but not overly done. Bed and bath linens were in great condition. All in all inside was still so fresh it felt like we were among the first guests to stay there. Thoughtful extras like dishes, utensils and games were appreciated. Also appreciated was the kindling and split wood for campfires. This cabin was clearly thoughtfully designed inside and out to create efficiency, a simultaneous cozy and spacious feeling, and a sense of comfort and privacy. The wraparound porch seemed to double the living space.
Was really an almost perfect setting for a restful and fun time away for a very tired single mom and her tween son. The road sounds from commuters and work trucks in the early a.m. and afternoon were louder than expected, but everything else about the cabin more than made up for this-- and I"m not sure we could have handled nighttime anywhere more remote because we've lived in town too long. Quite peaceful rest of day. (And "noise" is relative anyway. I do live on very quiet cul-de-sac.)
While my vacation goal was to just look into the woods, zone out and renew, there were plenty of active options for my son too. I took him fishing, geocaching and disc golfing. The disc golf course in Viroqua behind the VFW is the craziest we've ever seen-- essentially through woodland paths and fields with lots of dense brush you do not want to lose your discs in. So lots of good outdoor exercise and fun within minutes of the cabin which then allowed me to be back for lazy afternoon naps.
We hope to be able to return next year. My son said this was his favorite vacation ever. Me too. It was the most restful one I've had with the conveniences of a home and minimal driving/other demands. So thankful the rate is reasonable and thus able to stay longer than otherwise would have been able to do.
Had a great time...a great place to unplug
Peaceful, serene gem!
Beautiful setting and cabin. Everything you need and extras are there. So peaceful and serene. Porch was definitely one of our favorites for coffee in the morning and winding down at night. Definitely want to go back. Thank you for sharing this gem. Cannonball was an extra bonus
The cabin is located in SW Wisconsin, 10 min. outside of Viroqua. Additional attractions include fall colors, Amish shopping, Saturday farmers market, excellent fly fishing, country walks, scenic bike touring, canoeing, white tail deer hunting, eagle watching and local farm attractions.
