Cozy Amish built log cabin fully updated
About Evan Draeger
Evan and Jennifer both grew up in Wisconsin and met while in college at UW-La Crosse. There, they both fell in love with the bluffs and hills of Southwest Wisconsin. Shortly after getting married, they traveled Europe where they first discovered the brilliance of room and house rentals. They loved meeting locals and staying off the “beaten path.”
Evan Draeger purchased this Cabin in 2017
Why Evan Draeger chose Viroqua
Evan and Jen purchased the property in July of 2017 after many trips back and forth to the Driftless Region in search of the perfect land they could enjoy as a family. After viewing the little Amish cabin and taking a couple strolls through the woods, they knew it was the idyllic location for sweet little family getaways. They appreciate all the great things the area has to offer such as hiking, canoeing the Kickapoo River, fishing, antiquing, great restaurants, organic farming, and harvest season festivities.
What makes this Cabin unique
A setting like no other! Enjoying the coziness of our cabin while being able to witness nature at its best is priceless! Sitting on the deck is so relaxing, seeing the eagles soar over the cabin, and listening to the bubbling of Bishop Branch while having picnics is a true escape from reality and a tiny home away from home.

Nice, but helped us realize we want more from our next VRBO.
Clean, nice cabin and land. Small, but that was clear from the property description. Virtually no counter or storage space. The only place to "hang out" inside is an uncomfortable futon. We were out almost all the time (lots of trout fishing and exploring), but we enjoy having a place to sit and read or watch a movie at night and there just wasn't a comfortable place for any of that. Could mount a slightly larger TV on a wall with a better DVD player and open up a bit more space. Coffee maker took well over an hour to brew 9 cups. That would be a nice, cheap upgrade. Water heater is tiny, but we made it work. Beautiful valley with nice trout stream, but the county highway below is pretty busy. Nothing was hidden from us in the cabin description, and we had a nice time, but it left us wanting in certain respects. Staying here helped us understand that we'd like a few more rooms and comforts in our vacation rentals. The property deserves good ratings, but this just ended up being too small and limited for me, my wife and our son.
Ryan, Thank you for letting us know about the issue with the coffee maker. I've picked up a new one and will bring it out to replace the one there. Also thank you for the feedback on the cabin. We recognize it's not for everyone and is more tailored to those looking to disconnect and spend the majority of their time outdoors or in the surrounding Driftless Area with just enough comforts of home. Our family of five find it just comfortable enough, comparing it as an upgrade from camping in our camper. I agree with the water heater size. We have plans in the future to install a tank-less water heater to address that. Again thank you for your honest feedback and wish you the best in finding your next vacation rental that suits you. Thank you for being such great guests.
Fantastic Girls’ Getaway Cabin!
We had a wonderful time at Bishop Creek Cabin! The cabin was the perfect size for catching up and talking late into the night. We used the firepit both nights, so relaxing watching the stars and listening to the frogs. It is the perfect distance from Viroqua for exploring the town while still enjoying the wilderness. The only drawback was the road traffic during the day was a bit noisy, but it settled down at night and we slept peacefully. Evan was great! Very responsive and helpful! Thank you!!! We will be recommending this property to friends and hope to return with our families.
Place was perfect and location was awesome for us
Sweet place to spend family time.
Love this Cabin and location!
This is the second year in a row I've stayed at Bishop. It is WONDERFUL!
Kitchen is nicley appointed with everything you need.
Beds and linens are soft, clean and plentiful.
Just enough "comforts" like AC and a TV (for DVDs) and a good hot shower.
The porch is a great place for morning coffe and evening beer.
The firering is a great way to pass the evening talking or just listening to the creek below.
I go to Viroqua to fly fish. The location is ideal! Right in the middle of about 15 great trout streams (plus MANY good ones). We never had to drive more than 25 min. Add to that the Bishop Branch across the road.
Town is about 12 minutes away for anything you might need and the Liberty Bar is 2 min away for bar food, beer and really nice people!
I didnt just go once (and there are several other options), that should tell you something!
Thank you for such a great review of our place! We are pleased that it is a perfect fit for what you are looking for during your trips to the Driftless Area. We look forward to having you again!
Had a fantastic stay at bishop creek. I set out to discover fishing the driftless region, and within an hour of arriving I was across the road landing my first trout. The serenity at the cabin just made the trip a whole lot better. The cabin was clean, well equipped and close to the great town of Viroqua.
