Nestled in a forest of Mountain Hemlocks hundreds of years old, the home is located in a quiet neighborhood only a 5-6 minute walk from the Glen Alps/Flattop Trailhead providing the most direct and easy access to Chugach State Park. There are endless possibilities for hiking, climbing, and skiing from the house. Or, if you prefer to sit and relax and read a book, the view from the deck or living room couch of the Anchorage skyline and Denali/Mt. McKinley is spectacular. Northern Lights may be visible from August-April. During the months of May-July, there is not enough darkness to see the Northern Lights. Wild animals are frequent visitors to the property. Brown and Black Bears, Moose, Lynx, Coyotes, Wolves, Wolverines, Porcupines, Eagles, Owls, Snowshoe Hare, Ravens, and even a Golden Retriever have all been visitors to this property. If you see the Golden, his name is Pete and he may lick your face or hand. Please leave all the other animals alone.

We have traveled all over the world staying in everything from 0 star to 5 star properties, and learned a lot about what makes a place special. The house has been fully renovated, inside and out! We acquired this property in 2019 and immediately began an inside-out total renovation to bring it up to the most modern standards, with high end finishes and all new interior and exterior surfaces. During our travels we have taken extensive notes of all the best things we found and brought them here under one roof. We live next door and know the neighborhood and Alaska well! We're happy to answer all your questions and help you figure out the best things to do in the area as well. We are new to listing on this specific platform but have 5 years and 165+ 5 star reviews on the "other one.."
Why they chose this property
The changing light, weather, animals, views, and nature in every direction really drew us to live in this neighborhood. Before we even lived here we often came up to the State Park trailhead to hike, bike, and ski. Being able to do all that right out our front door is pretty awesome. You'll enjoy it too!

The Hemlock Mountain House rental is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath property that sleeps 6 people (max!), located in a dynamic and stunning corner of the Chugach Mountains in the hills outside Anchorage. Fully equipped kitchen with all the expected amenities. A 5 minute walk to the Glen Alps/Flattop Trailhead and you're on your way into the wilderness!
