Acerca de este alojamiento
Pawleys 7-bedroom historic, ocean & creek front home with 18 beds, sunset views
Nestled between the sand dunes and the creek for more than 175 years, ocean-front End of the Rainbow is situated on a quiet, secluded lot with live oak trees full of songbirds and Spanish moss, and features direct and private access to the beach on one side and the creek on the other. With 7 bedrooms (18 beds), including a mix of king, queen, twin, full, and bunk beds, this superb property is ideal for large groups, multiple families vacationing together, and reunions. A rare find with expansive porches, rustic, historic charm and modern amenities.
The story behind our house name:
When our patriarch and matriarch crossed over the causeway onto the Island, bringing their four young children to view the house for the first time in 1960, there was a Rainbow over the ocean which appeared to end at the property. The family felt it was a sign, and it has been our pot of gold ever since.
Our house has not been offered for rent in over 40 years. Unique features of our home, located in the Historic District of Pawleys Island, include original floorboards, high ceilings (15 feet), south facing dormer windows, three porches, a two-story beach-front lookout, a private creek dock, a large lot with plenty of parking and secluded from other surrounding homes, and nearly 2 dozen rocking chairs.
Once the Summer Parsonage/ Rectory and site of summer church services for local All Saints Episcopal Church, benches which served as pews with hundred-year old carved initials from the congregation still line the side porch. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
While spending time here, take in exquisite views of the sunset every evening from the creek dock, the “sunset porch” rocking chairs on the side porch, or the second story of the lookout on the beach. Sunrise is also beautiful from the beach lookout, and nightly, unobscured star-gazing from up high is not to be missed!
Enjoy meals around the large picnic table on the screened porch with comfortable seating for 12, or seated at the antique table in the dining room with an amazing, functional 48-inch round Lazy Susan.
With 7 total bedrooms (18 beds) and 3.5 bathrooms on the property, as well as a spacious living room, large screened-in porch and an open porch the length of the home, there is plenty of space to relax, congregate and enjoy the breezes and peaceful sounds of the ocean.
Your access includes two structures - the main house, as well as our adjacent "treehouse." Five bedrooms are located in the main house. A one-bedroom suite with a full bath is conveniently located on the ground floor of the treehouse. The second floor of the treehouse is a small apartment, with a bedroom area, living area, full bathroom and kitchenette.
Near the beach, there are also two outdoor showers, one open and one enclosed, with both hot and cold water.
Beds will be made up, with organic 100% cotton linens, upon your arrival. Both bath towels and beach towels are provided.
The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a Keurig coffee maker (for a full pot with grounds or just a cup with a pod), both a full size refrigerator with filtered water and a separate wine refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven and garbage disposal.
On the porch off the kitchen, there are two mini-fridges (one for adult beverages, one down low for the kids!) and an ice cream freezer which is great fun for children. Additionally, there is a second full size refrigerator with freezer in the upstairs treehouse. An on-site commercial-capacity free-standing ice maker makes filling your coolers simple and easy.
Basic paper products including paper towels, paper napkins, coffee filters, aluminum foil, plastic wrap and zip top bags are provided. Basic cleaning supplies available include hand soap at all sinks, dishwashing soap, dishwasher detergent and counter sprays.
A full size washer and dryer are located on the porch off the kitchen in the main house.
Outdoor cooking options include a charcoal grill, a gas grill and an outdoor burner and boiler kit ideal for seafood boils.
All TVs are flat screen, Smart TVs connected to the house WiFi - stream all of your favorite apps by logging in to your own accounts.
As it was initially constructed in the 1800s, our house is not conducive to central heat and air conditioning. Indoor temperatures can be adjusted using our 8 mini-splits and one window unit. Additionally, there are ceiling fans throughout.
During your stay, please enjoy our crabbing equipment, hammock, Shibumi Shade tent, kayaks, Spike Ball, bocce ball, tiki toss, assorted rafts, boogie boards and beach toys, plenty of puzzles, board games, cards and books for all ages.
A 240V receptacle for EV charging is conveniently located in the parking area on site.
