About Duane Webb

We are retired educators who enjoy staying in comfortable and quaint homes when we vacation. We live in Phoenix (my wife is a native) and wouldn't move anywhere else. We went to school here, our children and relatives all live here too. We have made this property a place we would stay in if we were visiting Phoenix.

If you're coming to Phoenix and want some ideas on where to go and what to do, we're probably able to help you make your stay a memorable one.

Duane Webb purchased this bungalow in 2012

Why Duane Webb chose Phoenix

Having grown up in Phoenix we've seen the metro area change tremendously over the years. In turn, areas that have remained ideal are the historic downtown residences. As we shopped for homes we had specific things in mind and this home hit the mark consistently.

What makes this bungalow unique

Location, location, location is something you hear often when talking about where to go to vacation or have an extended break. We hit the jackpot here. With easy access to everywhere in the Phoenix metropolitan area this home offers a solid and comfortable location from which to branch out and explore Phoenix or Arizona in general.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

Good location, extremely clean, well stocked, good a/c, nice spacious backyard and comfy beds. You can tell someone pays attention to a lot of the details on the home. Felt like we were staying in someone's personal home, not rental house.

Owner's Response: We'd like to thank you for your kind words with respect to our home. We do try to pay attention to details that make our property feel less like a rental and more like a home where you belong. Our location in the city center makes it easy for visitors to explore Phoenix or if they desire, move on to other areas in the state or neighboring cities. We continue to identify ways we can make the backyard better so we are glad to hear that it fit your needs.

Very cozy and comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

Being a Phoenix native who moved back to the East coast five years ago, this house was a perfect fit for my family. I felt instantly at home and enjoyed all of the amenities (hot tub) etc. I was extremely impressed and would definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: We, as always, are glad that our house was what you were looking for with the return to Phoenix, albeit a short stay. We've tried to provide enough for our guests to be comfortable but not too much so that they feel overwhelmed. Please keep us in mind if you return or pass us along to a friend.

Excellent!!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great little getaway! I had two teenagers with me and they absolutely loved this house...it is nearby to everything (museums, theaters, university, etc...) You can take an Uber if you don't have a car and there's also public transit right nearby. I would go again in a heartbeat! Oh...and Duane was wonderful to work with...such a kind gentleman!

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your kind words. We think our home is a great place to stay if you are coming to Phoenix fora ny number of reasons. You hit several of the keys, location, amenities, transit along with a good selection of restaurants nearby as well. Its great that the teens had a good time and we believe you did as well. A special note, you survived the dreaded heat of a summer in Phoenix with no problem. Congratulations!

A great stay in central Phoenix

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this home for an eight day Thanksgiving visit to my sister-on-law, who lives next door to the Heard Museum. Duane was great to communicate with before we arrived. The listing and pictures, if anything, don't really convey how nice a place this is. The rooms are large, pleasant and well appointed. The kitchen is completely equipped. The outdoor space was very nice. We loved the neighborhood and being able to walk to the restaurants on Central Avenue.

We were extremely pleased with every aspect of our stay. I expect we will stay here the next time we have an extended stay in Phoenix.

Beautiful Home in an Historic Neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

Ashland House is the perfect spot in Phoenix for travelers who want to feel welcomed. The home is beautiful, clean, well stocked, and inviting. You can gather around in the great room or enjoy the amenities of the lovely back yard. It is a quick walk away from the light rail making it right in the middle of everything while being away. The neighborhood and owner are friendly and inviting and quickly make you feel like you belong. Ashland House will be on our lodging list the next time we visit Phoenix.

Our home is in a prime location and part of historic downtown Phoenix. The Ashland House originally was a bunk house for the Heard family ranch hands, built in the 1920's. We think you’ll experience the same peace, relaxation and enjoyment that we do when you come to stay!

There’s so much to experience in downtown Phoenix within just a few miles of our home. Take a morning walk to a local coffee shop or an early afternoon walk for lunch or happy hour at Humble Pie, Durants, The Main Ingredient, Switch, Sochu House or any number of other restaurants – all less than one-half mile away. Get on the light rail and go for an adventure or straight to the ballgame.

This renovated, 1920's Tudor-style home, located in the Ashland Historic District is a unique property in the Valley. This is definitely no Arizona “cookie cutter” home or condo – vacationing in this home offers what is great about the old west – beautiful light, city views, quiet cool spaces, and nearby places for entertainment!

This residence has been renovated but retains its historic feel, featuring two bedrooms and two full bathrooms along with a loft. This home is not just a place to rest your head while visiting Arizona, it is a destination in itself!

Quality linens, lots of pillows, memory foam mattresses, fluffy duvets, TV's in each bedroom, all the amenities of home will make your stay truly unforgettable. A kitchen with Corian counters, updated appliances, and ample kitchenware make cooking in this kitchen better than being at home. The only decision you’ll need to make is whether to eat in or at one of the numerous establishments nearby. One of the most popular places in the house isn't in the house at all - it's in the fabulous covered areas in the landscaped backyard. There is a 4 person jacuzzi in the backyard to help make the stay even more pleasurable.

And while the house will comfort you – the location might just blow you away! The Ashland Historic District is located at the heart and soul of the entire Valley. Located within 2 miles from the I-10, 51, and 202 freeways, and just two miles north of the original downtown Phoenix, this house will allow everyone easy and quick access to everything there is to do in the Valley. Located within 10 minutes from the downtown Convention Center, Chase Field, US Airways Center, the Encanto Golf Course and Phoenix Country Club, the Phoenix Art Museum, the Children’s Museum of Phoenix, the Heard Museum, and the Arizona Fair Grounds– this neighborhood is also renowned for its great locally owned bistros and cafes and its close proximity to a lively art and theater scene. A short 15 minute drive gets you to Sky Harbor Airport, world-class shopping, spas, and golf at the famous Arizona Biltmore, the Desert Botanical Gardens, the Phoenix Zoo, ASU and Sun Devil Stadium, Tempe and Tempe Town Lake, and the beautiful Phoenix Mountain Preserve.

Many restaurants in downtown Phoenix are within a few miles. We’ll provide a guide at the home so you’ll know where to head. We’re centrally located and a great place to stay if you are coming for the spring training games – or if you want to launch off to explore Sedona, the Grand Canyon, or one of the many other natural wonders, National Parks and National Monuments Arizona has to offer (did you know Arizona has more National Monuments than any other U.S. State?)

Many people who’ve moved to Phoenix call it paradise, and we think they are right. Come and experience our Phoenix – and our home! We look forward to having you as our guests.
