About the property

House, 9 Bedrooms (incl Family Suite), 7 Baths, (Sleeps 18-24)

Come experience the uniqueness of Sea Forevermore, a 5,000 sq. ft home offering 8 bedrooms PLUS a separate Queen-bedroom family suite, oceanside in the Outer Banks’ desirable Whalehead Beach location. Only 250 feet to OBX’s best beaches, Sea Forevermore boasts all new furniture, appliances, and bedding. We are also excited to have installed an elevator, and a luxury master shower in the family suite, among many other amenities.

If you have a large group for gatherings, Sea Forevermore is for you! All of your group can enjoy a sweeping view of the ocean waves from the wall of windows spanning the entire third floor, or from the Captain’s Watch hot tub at the top of the roof. The Great Room, with carefully selected décor, invites the seascape inside. Perfect for large gatherings, the living area features a huge luxury stone-gray Italian-leather sectional sofa and matching ottoman and chair surrounding the 47” smart HDTV. Behind the sofa is a separate seating area for conversation near the kitchen. Nearby is a cuppola with seating area with comfortable stuffed chairs for eating or playing cards while enjoying the best view of the home. The kitchen area has new stainless steel appliances, mahogany cabinets, breakfast bar seating for 4, and plenty of cooking gear for the discriminating chef. For our Fall and Spring guests, a two-sided gas fireplace divides the Great Room with reading nooks on either side. The dining area, which is connected to the Great Room, boasts a fabulous table for 12, seafoam-green sofas, wicker chairs, and window seats to take in the view of the ocean while you dine, or peacefully read. Off the Great Room/Dining Room is the family master suite, with its own Queen bedroom, kitchenette with new refrigerator and dishwasher, custom shower, smart TV, and Queen sleeper sofa in a private separate sitting area. The Family Suite provides phenomenal flexibility. Families with small children can have them nearby but not in their beds, or in rooms down the hall. Or, treat parents, anniversary or romantic couples, or your special guests to their own private suite!

The mid-level boasts 6 bedrooms (4 masters, plus adjoining King BRs with a jack-&-jill bath) with all-new furniture, a smart HDTV in EACH room, deck access, and a separate washer-dryer. Our handicapped-accessible Queen “Corolla Coastline” BR features a roll-in shower and settee with hand rails. The adjoining King Bedrooms preside over one side of the house with great views! The other side's bedrooms are separate-bath masters with Queen beds. One of them, “Solarium Sunset,” has a Queen bedroom with an exclusive sitting room from which to enjoy sunsets, and a huge bathroom. High quality sheets, plush towels, soft bath mats, and luxury bedding unlike anything provided by a rental management company in OBX will enhance your stay.

The first level houses 2 bedrooms with adjoining full bath, recreation room, microwave, and expansive laundry room. The “Rattan” Queen bedroom is expansive, with handcrafted furniture, while “Twin Beach” embraces a coastal design offering two twin beds. Both have 32' new smart HDTVs. The recreation room features a pool table, new 70” smart HDTV, huge sectional sofa with three recliners, game table and chairs, microwave, and bar with built-in poker, roulette, and blackjack games, full refrigerator freezer (three in the house, plus a wine/drink cooler in the bar). A home theater system has been purchased. Through the sliding glass door is the pool, hot-tub, tiki bar area, outside shower, and barbecue grills (both propane and charcoal). The current 'cocktail' pool is heated in spring and fall, and is steps from a huge hot tub. As the headline above states, we have a brand new 140,000 BTU pool heater for those cool evenings. Relax after your ocean swim in the cool pool water, or climb to the Captain’s Watch hot-tub to relax with the best view in OBX. The beach, with its soft white sands is only a minute walk out the back yard (no requirement to go to the corner). Ride our bikes to close-by Food Lion and seafood/restaurants/gift shops in Monterey Plaza Shopping Center, or the farmer's market, restaurants, upscale shopping and amusement park at the Timbuk II Center. Make Sea Forevermore your chosen vacation house, and enjoy special discounts as we continue to outfit our home with the luxurious touches you want and deserve, but at family-friendly prices!

BARGAIN HUNTING? Small improvements (outside painting, landscaping, etc.) are being delayed in favor of other amenities. But that means you can have 9 bedrooms and the ocean 250 feet away at exceptionally low high season rates.

About Jim

We are the Towarnicky family, and the proud owners of 'Sea Forevermore,' our oceanside beach house at Corolla in the Outer Banks, NC. Jim is an attorney who specializes in real estate. This is our home, not a hotel, and so who we rent to is often more important than the rate. We do not use an impersonal rental management company, and care about your vacation experience so you will treat our home like who you are, guests in our home. To protect against scammers, always contact Jim to verify your week is available and do not send money to anyone by wire transfer. We can be flexible to meet your needs. Our family welcomes your family and friends to share our home, where you can Sea Forevermore!

Jim purchased this house in 2012

Why Jim chose Whalehead Beach

Our family vacationed several times over the years at the Outer Banks, and loved the clean, white sandy beaches. Other beach areas in other states that we tried were too crowded and dirty, and the houses too small. When we decided to finally purchase a vacation home, we knew we would come back to this fabulous resort area. It has everything you could want in a vacation spot: historic sightseeing with Wright Brothers First Flight, boutique shops, the Lost Colony outdoor drama, Currituck Lighhouse, Historic Corolla, and the nature preserve section with wild horses. There are all sorts of aquatic sports, and of course, the ocean and beach. Corolla is family-oriented and quiet, if that is what you wish, but connected to a string of towns along the coast (Duck, Southern Shores, Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, Nags Head, Manteo) with varying activities and nightlife for all ages. It really provides the best of all worlds!

What makes this house unique

We are making this house special with conveniences and luxuries to make your vacation the best! We have expansive decks for lounging, and a four-story hot tub at the ship's watch. You have a large pool-side hot tub as well, as you lounge pool-side. You will want for nothing in our spacious kitchen with gas range and two ovens. Enjoy family dinners on our 12-seat dining table and 4-seat breakfast bar. Our elevator and handicapped-accessible bedrooms and bathroom ensure that all family members can share your vacation. There is never a dull moment when you can splash in the pool or hot tub with friends, play billiards, and watch movies on our 70' smart HDTV. The house is spacious enough that your family and friends can share the experience, but be separated and not on top of each other all the time. But the best amenity is simply the location, where you can stroll down the street only 250 feet to the beach entrance, or sip a favorite drink on the decks, watching the waves in a panoramic view so soothing that you'll wish you didn't have to leave. We STILL feel that way ourselves every time we come down.

Perfect for our family reunion

  • 5 of 5

Sea Forevermore was the perfect house for our family's reunion. With 10 adults and 7 children (teens to infant), the top floor with its open kitchen, living room and large dining area allowed everyone a place to sit, to eat, and to interact. Sliding doors to the deck and plenty of outdoor seating meant that most folks carried their meals outside. The outdoor shower was invaluable as everyone used it to rinse off from the beach, thus keeping sand outside where it belonged! The back steps made it super easy for the older children to go down to the pool and back up to their rooms. All bedrooms were spacious. Prior to our arrival, Jim kindly created a floor plan of the house so I could pre-assign rooms with confidence (keeping those who needed sleep away from those who had crying babies!). The kitchen cabinets and drawers were labeled (making finding things easy), and we think every kitchen gadget known to exist could be found in the main kitchen or the one in the apartment. We had plenty of refrigerator space, and with two ovens, were able to prepare and/or heat all food items for the reunion (28 people in all!!). The pool was smaller than I thought it would be but it was clean and all of the kids thought it was the perfect place to start their morning and to end their day. Jim had a new fire pit installed and we completed one lovely day with some'mores and quiet songs. The bikes also provided a lot of fun for adults and kids alike. There were plenty of beach chairs, toys, canopies, wagons/totes on wheels/etc. Thanks to there being booggie boards too, even the 4 year old had one to take to the beach. We did discover that it was easier to pile all of the "stuff" into the back of our pick up truck and drive to the beach access - while the adults and children walked there (a ramp would have made things a whole lot easier!).

The previous week's tenants had caused damage to furniture, had not taken the trash out to the street all week (leaving every available trash can overflowing), had left trash scattered in the yard, etc. Liz and Jim both worked hard to correct the problems and to see that all was "made right". We were fortunate to have the owners nearby, easily reachable by phone, and so attentive. It is important to note that the outside of the house, the deck/wood furniture, etc. , as is clearly stated in the VRBO listing, is not as new/refinished/etc. as the inside. When those improvement are made, then the house will be perfect.

Owner's Response: I guess we love first-time visitors to OBX as this group was wonderful to work for and left our house in great condition! We would love to have them come back again. Normally, we have to explain all the additional amenities we provide to OBX newcomers, because of little basis for comparison. But not the case here! It makes us proud and happy that they enjoyed our home!

Owner's Response: Sarah's group was very appreciative and respectful of our property, and just great guests! We will try to accommodate any particular special need you may have (within reason). Many times, renters' ideas lead us to obtain great new items for the house.

Absolutely amazing!

  • 5 of 5

We had 18 adults and 2 kids in our group and let me just say there was plenty of room. We had an amazing time and there was so much to do! Jim and his family had all the supplies you could possibly need to enjoy an awesome day at the beach including toys, chairs, umbrellas etc. The weather turned out to be absolutely beautiful and we all had a lot of fun in the sun! Very short walk to the beach and all the stores are right around the corner. Anyone who rents here will truly have an amazing so enjoy!

Rough start Amazing Finish

  • 4 of 5

This was our families first time renting a house in OBX so we were pretty nervous about what to expect. The weather wasn’t great so we decided to arrive at the house around check in time so we could get right in. We arrived at 4:10pm and weren’t able to get into the entire house until 3 hours later… the 2 caretakers greeted us upon arrival to let us know the prior tenants left the house in disarray, they did allow us to enter each level as they were finished, which we were grateful for. During this time I spoke with Jim and was notified that the main hot tub was broke. Jim did offer us his other property but the pool wasn’t open so not a great trade off. After speaking to the pool company later that day they informed me that the hot tub was a very old unit and needed to be replaced for quite some time but finally broke. This was very disappointing because certain members of our group weren’t able to make the climb up to the crow’s nest to use the other hot tub. The kids were also disappointed that the basketball net was broke and couldn’t be fixed. Unfortunately this made for a very long and stressful first evening after the eleven hour drive.

On the positive side the amenities in the house were great… everything you could possible need you had at your disposal. Both kitchens were well stocked and every cabinet was labeled to make things easy to find (although it would be nice to have one empty cabinet or cupboard to put our own items in to help cut down on countertop clutter). Both adults & kids had a great time riding the bicycles. The beach chairs were very convenient. The house was in walking distance to the shops & beach. Beds were very comfortable (including the air mattress). Elevator was a life saver. House is very spacious, room for everyone to do their own thing and not be in each other’s way. The three full size refrigerators/freezers were a plus. Pool was warm and having the pool toys available was great. All had a great time playing pool and watching TV in the lower level rec room. The welcome basket was a great extra touch with a little something for everyone in the group!

Other than the first days setbacks we all had a wonderful time and made sure to leave the house as we found it so the next renters wouldn’t have a delay in starting their vacation as we did.

Thank you Jim and family for making our family’s first OBX vacation amazing!

Owner's Response: We're sorry this group's first trip to OBX started with disappointment, and are thankful for their patience and understanding. As we tell our renters when they decide to come, this is our home, not a hotel, and we appreciate it when renters treat it as if it were their own. We have been very fortunate in the past that, unlike the norm at some other places, our renters generally treat our home with great respect. But sometimes they do not. Unfortunately, these renters had to endure what happens in those rare cases. Erica pointed out that our caretaker worked as quickly as possible to do an excellent cleaning. In addition, unlike other homes, we always allow our guests to use the outside amenities on arrival (tiki bar with tv, grill, shower, beach gear, pool and pool toys) as soon as the previous guests depart. And because of the situation, we made the exception to our normal policy that the different levels of the house could be used as soon as the cleaning was completed (we normally cannot allow guests in early for liability and insurance purposes). Regarding the hot tub, we are sorry that circumstances forced our coming up short. The spa that was being replaced is generally the largest size sold (and requires a crane, electrician, and survey to install). We discovered that no dealer or big box store carried such a unit (or even a floor sample) in stock, or that a crane and crew, etc. would be immediately available if it were. As Erica said, a repair was not a viable option. Because Sea Forevermore had a second new hot tub and a heated pool, though, we hoped that they would suffice. We're sorry not everyone in her group could benefit from that.

Owner's Response: Well, our efforts for the best stay possible for our guests stop at arranging the weather. [ :0) just teasin']. We're sorry Kathleen's group did not get to experience the OBX in its normal Spring beauty (this same week was in the 90s in previous years). However, unlike other houses, we have a heated pool available. Hopefully Kathleen's group will come back soon, and we'd be happy to provide an additional discount to show our appreciation and try to make up a little bit for the weather.
