Overview

About the property

CHARMING 2 BR & 2 BA COTTAGE, JUST A LITTLE OVER 2 BLOCKS FROM THE BEACH

Quaint and comfortable: 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom cottage available to rent for your vacation or get-away. Over 1100 sq. ft. of living area. Each bedroom as it's own bath. Covered front porch, with a swing and porch furniture. As well as a private, screened in back porch that has a dining table and chairs for your enjoyment.

The Cracker House is not your typical Florida beach house, a friend of ours from North Carolina, has said that it's a 'Mountain Home at the Beach'.

While the Cracker House is certainly not upscale or "fancy", we think you will find it clean, comfortable, charming and in a very quite neighborhood, with great neighbors.

There are 2 grocery stores, just a short drive south on AIA, as well as numerous restaurants within walking distance from our cottage, to enjoy, if you don't feel like cooking.

We hope that if you decide to stay with us that you will enjoy it as much as we do.

About Pat Parish

My husband Bill, and I bought the beach house in 2004. After visiting the area for over 30 years . We looked for quite some time until we found this little jewel...... We currently live in the mountains of Western North Carolina and hope to one day retire to St. Augustine Beach!! Life's a beach!!!

Pat Parish purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Pat Parish chose Saint Augustine

We visited the area for over 30 years prior to buying the cottage......Great beaches, antiques stores, good bike and walking trails, good music in the Summer at the pier and wonderful restaurants. We love riding our bikes into the historic district and looking at all the old houses. Which takes about 30 minutes by bike or 10 minutes by car.

What makes this cottage unique

We fell in love with our home because of the way it sits back in the trees and is really pretty private. It's the 3rd house from the end, on a dead end street. We love to sit on the swing on the front porch!

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is the 5th or 6th stay for us at the "Cracker House". We always enjoy our stay and find it to fit all our needs. There are great restaurants that are within walking distance to the cottage and the beach is just a quick 5 or less minute walk.

Comfortable, easy access to everything

  • 4 of 5

Plenty of room, well equipped. Furniture was dated and worn. Housekeeping did not remove previous pet hair on floors and furniture very well, overall home was otherwise very clean and bug free. Yard could use some maintenance. TV and cell reception was horrible. Nothing to inconvenient we still enjoyed our stay.

Nicely appointed cottage convenient to everything

  • 4 of 5

There was one glitch, however. We arrived on Monday to an overflowing trash can. Pick up day is Friday. The can is plastic and the lid was “secured “ by a worn out bungee. Every morning I had to clean the yard as raccoons had successfully raided the can overnight. This problem is easy to fix.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to submit a review and your efforts. Please accept our apology for the inconvenience and the overflowing trash can. We will be replacing the existing trash can with, hopefully, a raccoon proof container. Thank you for staying with us! Pat and Bill Parish

Clean and well kept. Had everything we needed. About 2 or 3 blocks from the beach.

  • 5 of 5

House was clean. Older but well kept. We had everything we needed including beach chairs and only had to walk 2 blocks to the beach. Beach was beautiful and dog friendly, which we loved. Several good restaurants, ice cream, and miniature golf right there along the beach. Went into the “downtown” or old city portion of St. Augustine. It was beautiful. Lots of historic things to see and plenty of places to eat and sight see.

Adorable cottage near the beach

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this cottage over Memorial Day weekend. It was clean and looked just like the pictures. It had everything we needed and we would definitely love to stay there again. Our fur babies also were very relaxed and loved the back yard. Not totally fenced but not an issue. Very private and quiet. Thank you for letting us spend our weekend retreat at your home.
