About Chris McNalley

We are retired and live in Calgary, Alberta, close to the Rocky Mountains. We spend as much time as we can at The Shore, by ourselves or with family and friends enjoying everything Tofino has to offer.

Chris McNalley purchased this condo in 2010

Why Chris McNalley chose Vancouver Island

We fell in love with Tofino many years ago and when the opportunity came to own a brand new condo right on the water we couldn't resist. Tofino is a unique place with its rugged natural beauty, beaches and wildlife and it is always drawing us back.

What makes this condo unique

The view over the water is forever changing. There will be kayakers and boats of all kinds passing by, seals, otters, eagles and, if you are very lucky, an occasional pod of orcas. A wildlife lovers paradise. The sunsets from the patio are amazing. A camera is essential!

Absolutely Fantastic

A friend and I were lucky enough to stay here for 5 days in June. Not only did the weather co-operate, but the condo and location were perfect. Location, location, location - couldn't get any better. Right at the waterfront so you can sit on the patio and watch the float/sea planes come and go all day, the "school boat" arrive to drop off and pick up the kids, and then all the other boats, kayaks, etc. Quite easy to just sit there watching the world go by. Gas BBQ and comfy patio furniture all above par. Inside is as others have said in their reviews - top notch. Appliances, furnishings, etc - no complaints whatsoever. And really nice having a washer and dryer on hand. It was certainly nice to be able to have breakfast when we wanted as the grocery store is a 5 minute stroll up the hill and around the corner. The indoor parking also a perk. All you really need to bring is clothing as everything else is either provided or a short walk away (food and refreshments, really). I've recommended Chris' place to friends but unfortunately it is always booked! A very good sign. When I get back to Tofino I will certainly stay here again. Recommended activities - we went Kayaking using the Outfitter right next door to the Condo. Think it was Black Bear - a smaller group but gives very personalized service. Take the time to hike on the trails in the Pacific Rim Park and all the way down to Ucluluet - the vistas never get boring. Walk any or all of the beaches - just remember to watch for tides. They come in rather quickly if you're not paying attention. Before I Visited, I was unsure about all the hype about the area but it lives up to it. If you're looking to party 24/7 - this is not the area for you. But if you're looking to relax, spend time outdoors doing things in and around nature, this is definitely it. A wonderful part of our great country.

Best location in Tofino

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this condo is first rate. The location is the best in Tofino. We walked everywhere. Great restaurants and all your activities are at your door. Watching the boats and seaplanes come and go was big fun. The view from the condominium was everything I have dreamed about for years.

The condominium is well stocked with everything you will need. Very comfy bed and nice bathroom. The stove top takes some getting used to. Unless you're used to induction, I'm not. Underground parking was a nice perk too. Stephanie is the local contact and she will meet and greet you.

This is a special place on our planet and I feel so lucky to have visited with my wonderful wife. Don't miss hot springs cove. Bear watching was amazing too.

Thanks again Chris for sharing your wonderful home.

Heaven on Earth!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough about my stay in Tofino and how grateful I was to find this place as my respite! The town itself is beautiful... and the drive in brought tears to my eyes from the sheer natural beauty, plus being greeted by roadside sightings of a mama bear and 2 cubs! What a welcome!

The condo is beautiful... pictures DO NOT do it justice. I extended my stay the moment I arrived. It has every modern luxury you could hope for (or at least all I needed) and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Everything was very clean, fresh feeling, loved and cared for. The finishes & simply beautiful art was beautiful and what's not mentioned on the listing is the really amazing soaking tub that had to be 6+ feet long! I filled the tub up to my neck and was able to completely stretch my legs, which was such a blessing after a day of exploring.

I thought I would do so much more exploring, but once in the condo it was so cozy and welcoming, I found myself having 4 days in one... mornings with coffee and breakfast on the patio watching the seaplanes and boats coming in and out like the tide in front of Meares Island... with bald eagles swooping above my head! Mid-day adventure to nearby beaches, hikes, and whale watching, back for an afternoon booking reading/nap on the couch with the sea breeze gently coming in, woke up for dinner.... then off to a beach or just in front of the condo to watch some of the most amazing sunsets. It was one of the most magical and rejuvenative trips I've ever taken and hope to return some day soon!

Chris was lovely to deal with throughout every step of the process. Thank you so much for welcoming me into your amazing home... I cannot wait to return!!

Exactly as described

Its just like being at home with all the amenities you need in a modern clean space. Everything in Tofino is walkable, groceries & restaurants and what is not is easily accessible right outside your patio door by water taxi or seaplane. There is a registered massage therapist upstairs which helps out after day long hikes along the nearby beaches or exploring the many trails. The magnificent views from the patio top it all off. Decided to stay three extra days at short notice and Chris was most accommodating booking in the extra time. Will definitely be back.

Perfect location in Tofino

  • 5 of 5

First of all, the pictures do not do this place justice. When I first walked in, I just felt like home. The decor is welcoming and the place is so clean. The windows in the sitting area and bedroom really make the place wonderful. We watched a bald eagle from our living room window! The location is perfect for tours. We walked out of our back door and took a boat to the hot springs & was dropped off by sea plane at the same place. Tofino is a wonderful place & staying here makes it even better.
