The Benson House is just a few blocks from the heart of town, the beach, and City Park. It is a perfect place to stay for all the summer activities and events that Coeur d' Alene offers.

This centennial home was built in 1907 and has been completely restored, keeping many of the original features. It has been updated with all the modern amenities, INCLUDING WiFi.

The wrap around porch is especially charming with cushioned wicker furniture creating a relaxing "step back in time" feel. The huge fenced backyard has a large new deck with gas grill, table and chairs. A large back yard provides plenty of room for games. Lawn games provided include: volleyball, badminton, croquet, and horse shoes. This park like setting makes the Benson House an excellent location for a large group.

The second floor offers a large bedroom with a king-size bed. A second bedroom which has a queen-size bed, and a third bedroom with lots of character offers a twin-sze bed. The bathroom features a claw foot tub and and connecting shower.

The main floor has a nice-size living room and large dining room that seats 10. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the amenities. The fourth bedroom, located on this floor, offers a double bed with an adjoining bathroom.

LOCATION IS EVERYTHING: From the Benson House, you can walk to any number of coffee shops, restaurants, clubs, art galleries, antique stores and shopping boutiques. The beach, with all the boat rental and water sport activities, is just a short walk from the house.

Minutes away from world famous golf courses, great fishing, bike and hiking trails, and horseback riding. Within a short distance you can ride the worlds longest gondola at Silver Mountain, enjoy Silverwood theme park, visit the Coueur d' Alene Casino, or go white water rafting.

THINKING OF A WINTER GET-AWAY? Ask about our non-holiday off season specials. You'll find this house to be a cozy winter retreat. Silver Mountain Ski Resort is less than an hour's drive. The Thanksgiving FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS is spectacular, drawing people from all over the northwest. Downtown Coeur'd Alene has all the beauty and charm of a scene from Currier & Ives over the Christmas Holiday Season.

Charming property walking distance from downtown

  • 4 of 5

We would definitely stay here again. The property is quite charming and everything was ship shape; the home is well stocked with pretty much everything you need. Though we didn't spend much time there during the day, the back yard is beautiful and equipped with gas barbecue's if you're inclined to grill. The owner is easily accessible and responsive which made everything that much easier. The property location is terrific as you can take a few minutes brisk morning walk to downtown for breakfast or just coffee. Plus it is in a relatively quiet neighborhood so there were no intrusive noises. The wi-fi and cable TV worked great which can be a real annoyance otherwise. Coeur d'Alene is one of the most scenic places in the USA and is well worth the trip - this was my second time back to the area and it did not disappoint. The only reason this is not a 5-star review is that I felt the cleaning fee was high, particularly in view of the fact we did not cook and used only one of the bedrooms plus the 2 bathrooms for our 3 night stay. That said, I would not hesitate to rent this property again as the positives vastly outweigh the cleaning fee.

Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay. It was perfectly located for downtown activities and in great proximity to restaurants and other shopping, including groceries. The house has old-house charm and every accommodation has been considered (towels, soaps, extra blankets, grill tools, etc.) The kitchen is small but clean, updated and well-stocked. The beds are comfortable, yard is spacious, neighborhood is quiet, porch is comfortable and charming.

Owners are very easy to work with and they communicate very responsively and thoroughly so you know what to expect when you get there. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect! There were lots of room for 5 adults, 1 teenager and 2 children with 4 nice bedrooms and futon in the living room. The beds were very comfy and the kitchen is well stocked with essentials and all kinds of cooking pans and utensils (even for my Chef son). The huge yard filled with snow gave the kids an opportunity to play and build a snowman. This house would be amazing in the Spring and Summer.

Better than the Coeur d Alene Resort

  • 5 of 5

Im so glad we found this house down town Coeur d Alene. Gary was great to work with and responded quickly to our questions. My wife and I stayed here with our two kids and my brother. We loved the location, and that it was walking distance to down town, stores, beach and resturants. The house was great to come back to after long days with family. It was also nice to have high speed internet and tv. The back yard is huge and makes for great games(house shoe pit). The wrap around front porch was one of my wife favorites. Waking up in the morning with coffee in hand and a good book she could be found there sitting on the swing or a cozy chair. I would recommend this home over any hotel including the Coeur d Resort! I have stayed at both. Thanks again for making our trip a special one.

Our Benson House Experience

  • 5 of 5

A family vacation was our plan. My husband, myself, our 3 sons, 3 daughters in law and 2 granddaughters. We stumbled upon The Benson House online. Old house, big...downtown, near the beach. Sounded okay. Let's give it a whirl. In one word....PERFECTION!! The moment my family entered this lovely house...we felt like we walked into a HOME. It has been cared for and there is a feeling of happiness and peace that lives within these walls. We made a lifetime of memories. Family games played in the spaces backyard. Oodles of BBQ's and homemade breakfasts on the back patio. We watch a gorgeous electrical storm from the comforting safety of the front wrap around porch. The amenities were beyond description. We wanted for nothing. The beds were most comfy and everything was clean and tidy. We treated your home with love and respect and would love to come back again. Thank you so much for the care and thought you put into each and every detail. We were so very please. Blessings from The Sado Family, Doug and Laurie; Johnny, Heather, Zoie and Adeline; Nathan and Sarah; Spenser and Katrina.

Great place to come home to!

  • 5 of 5

We loved every minute of our stay at the Benson House. It was a wonderful place to relax and recharge after a full day of vacation activities. The house is full of charm and character (the pictures don't do it justice) and it evident that the owners care a great deal about their vacation home. We started every day on the back deck and ended it gathered on the front porch. The house is perfectly located in the up and coming midtown area and a short walk of downtown. There are great restaurants, antique shops and grocery shopping within a few blocks. Kelly's Irish Pub & Restaurant (2 blocks) is rated high on our list. We would definitely stay again.
