My wife and I celebrated our anniversary by escaping our lives for a few days to stay at this wonderful home in Del Norte, CO. We didn't know what to expect, having never been to this corner of the state, but it was a real utopia for outdoor activities. It's a great area for mountain biking and hiking. (Though the elevation is high, so visitors from lower elevations might find themselves struggling through moderate exercise.) We hiked Middle Frisco Trail, walked the river walk in "downtown" Del Norte, and explored the property the house is on. We loved it. Our dog loved it, too. She's not used to being off-leash, and she loved being able to run around at full canine speed.
The owner was helpful and communicative, suggesting activities we might like (and did), and generally making sure were were enjoying ourselves.
The house itself is wonderful, with an eclectic mix of art, sustainable building materials, solar power, and a kitchen that has everything you might need. The sun deck in particular was a great place to unwind and watch lizards, birds, and distant cattle. And the stars! I had never seen the Milky Way before. It was overhead every night. And I've never seen so many stars. It was breathtaking.
The town is only a few miles away, if supplies are needed.
I can't remember the last time we were this relaxed.
Wonderful vacation spot!
