About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 6

Headlands Cove is a three-bedroom, two-bath home located at the north end of the Mendocino Village. It sits high on the bluff for blue and white water views of Agate Cove, the Headlands, urchin divers in the cove and hovering Ospreys in summer. But truly, year-round, this Mendocino vacation rental is a true escape!

Less than a mile from the center of this quaint village, you can walk to town in less than 15 minutes. Hike around Mendocino Headlands State Park, spend an afternoon browsing galleries, or sip pints of Peregrine Pilsner at the Mendocino Brewing Company. And if you want a bit more hubbub, Fort Bragg, Mendocino's neighbor to the north is only nine miles away.

This home's interior combines beautiful redwood paneling and pastel colors, with a gas-log fireplace and large windows to take advantage of the expansive ocean views and natural light. Leather furnishings and art work emphasize comfort in the living space. Two queen bedrooms are located at the east end of the house with a bathroom in-between. The bathroom includes two vessel sinks and a multi-head shower with steam feature. The living room, dining area, and fully equipped kitchen separates the spacious master suite from the rest of the house.

The master suite includes a queen bed, a sitting area with two leather chairs and table, its own bath with a jetted tub and shower, with a separate front deck entry. The Murphy-style beds in both the small bedroom and master suite are a unique feature that are comfortable and easy to use - plus, they provide the option of putting the beds away during the day.

Ideal for a couples or friends traveling together, this Mendocino vacation home offers a private, scenic getaway. Varieties of rhododendrons and coastal flowers, especially Matilija poppies with their paper-white flowers and butter-yellow centers, surround the residence. Decks on the front, side, and rear offer opportunities for outdoor cooking and eating as well as relaxing and enjoying the views.

This is a wonderful Mendocino vacation home for a quiet retreat just minutes away from the heart of Mendocino village or the Northern California Coast areas of Jug Handle Beach, Fort Bragg, and all points north.

Mendocino splendor.

This home was beautifully positioned to view the sea, the whales and the sunsets. Very, very comfortable with all the necessary and most of the optional comforts in place. A place to rest, a place to view the sunsets, a place for whale-watching. Wonderful!

lovely location

  • 4 of 5

We could never lock the house because we couldn't find the back-up box with the keys. There are 3 lights out above the sink in the kitchen. Outside lights are mostly out or we couldn't find the switch. Hair dryer in the bathroom off the living room smoked, sputtered and died. Driveway lights were never on. The hedge around the house number at the street needs to be cut back. The numbers cannot be seen. Lights above the dining room table only have two working. The master bed speaks to you every time you move. Hot water valve leaks when you turn on either the hot or cold water in the master bath. It took a day and a half to warm up the house. Some one needs to stay there for a night and check it out. Needs a little TLC. But, location is lovely, garden is beautiful and we felt very safe and special to be there. All that is wrong is small and can be fixed in a day. We would come back.

Lovely location.....nice garden.

Very comfortable home to stay in with a few improvements needed. I'm sure they will be taken care of. the location is very close to town, but, my friends and I were not willing to walk along the road to town, so, we drove. Only 2 minutes, but, we made it and didn't get run over! Deck has good views and could be accessed in the better weather. it was too cold to stay out there in January!

Nice location

  • 4 of 5

House in good location near Mendocino. Good appliances, beds comfortable, kitchen well appointed. Interior welcoming. Heating a bit slow to warm up, showers could use some repair (defects in walls). Although near Mendocino, no sidewalk to walk on, making it a bit dangerous to walk to headlands. Overall nice experience.

About Vacasa, CA - Northern California Coast Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!
