My wife and I live a busy life so when we go on vacation we really just need to unplug and relax. Aqua Vista was as advertised and we had a great time. Thanks Tad for sharing your little piece of paradise with us.
The Amazingly Blue Water was the Star by far!!!
The pros: The water, dock, Tony.
The Cons: the road in is a deal breaker for me coming back. It’s not “just a few pot holes, it’s 1 1/4 mile of torturous land mines. And the bed linens need upgraded.
Tad, Aqua Vista is amazing and Tony is an awesome host, We didn't want to leave, but Tony said we had too... more guests were coming. Ok, so we'll just have to come back. We were lucky enough to have three days of no winds and water like glass. Because of this, we were even able to stand up paddle board to one of the closer cays.Took the boat to the rest. Non stop relaxation and fun. Strangely enough, even with no winds, very few mosquitos and noseeums. Maybe it was the religious application of deep woods off. Weather was perfect, water was perfect, everything was perfect. Thank you!
Beautiful home! I am one of those people who gets a little skeeved out staying away from home - but felt completely comfortable in Tads home. It was very clean, beds were comfortable, kitchen was stocked with plenty of plates/cups/pans, things we needed to cook most of our own meals rather then going out, which was our goal. As other users mentioned, some of the items get rusty just from the salt exposure, however..no big deal. Some of the older reviews of the home indicate that "there is no one around", however, they have more recently built another home that is immediately next to this one..that being said...it is a gorgeous home, and during our stay there wasn't a soul in it. So we definitely had a ton of privacy and even if they were there I imagine it wouldn't have been a concern at all. The neighbors house appears to be a vacation home that isn't occupied all that frequently?
We did not rent a car. We utilized a local taxi service but they DID grunt and groan about getting us because the road back to the house is VERY secluded, and has a lot of potholes. The taxi drivers in the Bahamas hate pot holes because they're concerned about their cars. Most of the taxi drivers did NOT know where the home was by its current road name. Apparently it used to be called something else which I will not disclose, but make sure you inquire with the owner.
The kayaks were great. Unfortunately the weather was very windy the week we came so we did not get to use the paddleboards. We could tell, however, that typically when it is not windy the water was could be like GLASS. It was a little rough during our stay. We had fun fishing around the little islands.
I would say that if I brought my kids to the Bahamas with me (hahahahahha), I wouldn't consider this the ideal home due to the lack of any beach. I know some say there is a small beach during low tide and when they say "small"..picture fitting like one beach chair on there. It would've been tough with smaller kids I think and I would consider a different house. For us adults, we preferred this home to others we have visited in the Bahamas due to its location, fishing, and adventuring opportunities. We would definitely come back!
A few small cons. As others mentioned, the water smell in the showers and sink was really bad initially. After the property manager treated it after a few days it wasn't so bad. Had some trouble with the oven which I will email owner about. Otherwise, amazing :)
Aqua Vista was great
Our stay at Aqua Vista was delightful - beautiful water, great accommodations and perfect weather. We spent our time sunning on the pier, kayaking, bone fishing and paddle boarding.
We hope to return to this laid back paradise.
Acqua Vista is ideal for fishermen.
My brother and i enjoyed our stay very much. Tad was a good communicator. Tony, the caretaker, was helpful and not intrusive (comes for the trash every couple of days.) We caught some bonefish (don't forget to go to the Government office for your permit if you DIY!) and had shots at some big ones. We bought conch off the conch boat and ate at the fish shacks a couple of nights (make sure you try fried barracuda!)
