Hi Tad, we are at the airport getting ready to fly back to the real world. I can't tell you how much we enjoyed your gem of a property Aqua Vista.
In all the years we have traveled and places we have stayed, I don't recall using the outdoor space of a property as much as we used this one. The pictures you have posted just doesn't do it justice.
We did travel to a couple beaches we found last year and found a new one this year which I consider the best on the island you can get to by car. Coco Plum Beach, not sure if you have been there, but is a must see next time you are here if you haven't.
Alex was a real pleasure to work with. When we arrived he had our car waiting for us when we walked out, so we were able to load up and go straight to the house.
All in all we had a great trip and look forward to returning to Aqua Vista again in the near future. Thanks to you and Alex for making this trip seamless and extremely pleasurable.
Oh WOW! Where to start? You know how you see some rentals have pictures posted and when you get there it's not exactly what you expected? NOT THIS PLACE! WOW! It ALL looks just like the pictures! It's amazingly beautiful. We never got bored of just sitting out on the deck or the dock and just looking around in awe of the beauty. All of our friends and family thought we went to Bora Bora or Bali from the pictures we showed them. It really is a little slice of heaven! The house is fully equipped and spotlessly clean. Everything works as it should and it was very comfortable.
Customer service from the owner, Tad and the caretaker, Alex, are also top notch. They anticipated any and all needs and made the stay very smooth and comfortable. Alex knows the island top to bottom. He'll tell you everything you need to know from the best places to shop and eat, to the best beaches and snorkel spots. He knows everyone and everyone knows him!
Overall we love the house and the island and we can't wait to return very soon!
Just got done spending 9 days at AQUA VISTA and we didn't wanna come home. The house looks the same as it does on the website which is refreshing since so many times things aren't as they appear. Tad, the owner was always quick to respond to your texts and his house manager TONY was at the airport to greet us, help us get our rental car and show us how to get to the house. AND we were an hour late getting there due to flight delays. You definitively wanna get a car while your there because the house is off of the beaten path about 2 miles down a dirt road and I don't think a taxi driver would know how to get there. A word to the wise, if you are going around easter like we did the whole island pretty much shuts down GOOD FRIDAY, EASTER SUNDAY AND EASTER MONDAY (I didn't even know that existed) so be prepared food wise. As for the house, it us shaped like an octagon with windows on every wall. It was pretty windy the week we were there so we just left the windows open instead of the air conditioner for the most part. Just the 2 of us had the house to ourselves and the bed in the master was very comfortable for a queen size. No cable but a good selection of movies to choose from at night, we ate at the house most of the time and it has all you will need to do so..it had a nice raft in the water to lay out on and to my surprise even came with a 15 ft power boat Even though the wind stopped us from using it. The house runs on a well and they put chlorine in the water to treat it so be careful. Our first 2 loads of laundry got faded or bleach stained but you are on a remote part off the island and I guess the chlorine is necessary .besides that and low water pressure in the master shower, everything worked just great. We loved how secluded it was. It's about 10 minutes from town by car (you drive on the left there) and your in the middle of exuma so your only 30 minutes or so either direction to each end of the island. Its perfect for 4 people. Although there are 2 rollaway in the closet. We took 4 c's adventures to swim with the pigs, rented a boat from MINN'S to go to stocking island, ate at SANTANAS,SHIRLEY'S FISH FRY, THE CONCH SALAD STAND NEXT TO SHIRLEY'S. we did it all. By far the best vacation we ever had an can't wait to return in a year or so. You will fall in love too. We're gonna try around July next time for less wind and a little warmer water. Quit reading this post and go book the property and come fall in live with paradise.
My husband and I stayed at Aqua Vista for 3 weeks, that went by way too fast,
Aqua Vista is like the steps to a piece of heaven, waking up every morning to the wonderful ocean view, that depending on the sun and clouds, the color of the ocean was mesmerizing,
The house is welcoming and we felt at home the moment we got there, and it was very clean and very well equipped, the bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable, there were plenty of clean linens and towels, lots of drinking water that Tad supplies and if you run low, Tony was more then happy to bring more,
there is a full size fridge, large microwave and a great oven, and there were plenty of dishes and utensils,
we also used the barbecue every night when we didn't go into town for dinner,
there were many days we just stayed at the house and enjoyed lounging in the sun,
Randy fished off of the rocks when we were not out on the boat or exploring the Island,
Tony the caretaker for the house was awesome, he was waiting for us at the Airport and went with Randy to pick up the rental car, and then we followed him out to the house, he even picked up the groceries and beer we had requested, which was nice and chilled when we got there,
we took the boat out around 5 times, due to the winds and tides, but all we can say is WOW!!!, on the far side of one of the little islands we went to, there are incredible large Starfish, Stingrays and we saw a huge school of bone fish, and even a few sharks
We had our rental car for the full 3 weeks we were there and toured the whole Island and little Exuma as well, if you get a chance go to the Tropic of Cancer beach, it is well worth the drive, it is such a beautiful beach, we went there 3 times and brought a picnic basket and our beach chairs and umbrellas, and did a lot of serious chilling out!!!
we also went up to Exuma point and the people at the Exuma bar and grill were awesome and very friendly,
we have traveled a lot of the Caribbean Islands but this one is at the top due to the location and our stay at Aqua Vista.
Tad, the owner was also great as well and was quick to answer any questions we had,
and he is very guest orientated and wants you to have the best time at his home,
not only did we fall in love with Aqua Vista, but also the whole island of Great Exuma,
as the people there were all very friendly and helpful, and we left to go back home with heavy hearts and will definitely be going back to Aqua Vista
Linda and Randy
I am so impressed with this house! We booked our stay back in Aug. for March 2017 vacation and stayed for a week. I did rely on Tad to during the process with multiple questions and concerns which were all answered in a timely manner.
On the way, we had plane trouble and again I was able to chat with Tad so that he could let the property manager, Tony, know of our delayed flight. As expected, Tony was right outside of customs and was very helpful in getting the car, luggage and answering questions. We followed him to the house and he stopped at several places to get us oriented with the Island, with only one road, driving is a breeze. The road to the house is mostly dirt with some paved areas and lots of potholes. This is typical here so we just took it slow and our mini car which we rented from Thompson's had no trouble at all.
The house had everything that we wanted and more. The kitchen was fully stocked with spices, jugged water, pots, pans etc. It even had a coffee pot which you could use k-cups as well as a big, normal coffee pot. We found everything to be clean and in good working order. We did have trouble with the home phone and brought that to Tony's attention. He got us a local phone and added $20 worth of minutes for us in case of an emergency. That was super helpful after I dropped my phone in that beautiful, clear water.
The house was clean and very comfortable. We used the fans and opened the door almost the entire time, even at night. It was nice to hear the waves and smell that wonderful beach smell. We used the master bedroom and the bed and firm yet comfortable. The pillows could use an update as they were extremely lumpy, but we still slept great.
We were concerned with the shower, but Tony explained that they use a salt water well system which makes you feel like you are bathing in salt water. It isn't good for drinking nor brushing your teeth but it wasn't a problem showering for us. It was difficult to get soap to lather but it appears you can get soap to help with this. Also for the ladies, I would suggest a shaving foam instead of the gel, making it again easier with this style of water. But again, with everything this house has to offer, that didn't bother us at all!
Perfect house, perfect location. I could go on and on but have hit the max characters. I will also be reviewing on TripAdvisor, KSaul, if you have additional questions or want to read food/activity reviews.
Oh the memories of this wonderful place we stayed at 3 years ago! Funny story..... while I was making eggs on the first morning, we laughed about how at least 6 eggs had double yolks. (So weird at the time as I had never seen a double yolk). My MIL said "oh twins, maybe a sign". No lie - I completely got pregnant with twins during our stay here! :) Anyway - what a great place to visit off the beaten path. The house was great for 4 adults and a toddler. Pier and water - absolutely stunning! Do all of the touristy activities - swimming pigs tour, eat at the little shack with the lobster, go to the island across the way. I'd love to go back some day and take the twins but I would be scared to eat the eggs! ;)
Okay where do I start? My wife and I lived in the Bahamas for 4 years in the 90's. So we've visited many family islands and swam many gin-clear waters but nothing compares to the water just 20 feet from the back deck of this property. The colors--the glowing, other-worldly aquas flowing into the aqua-mairines and deep blues--are like an impressionistic painting from God. And you have a view from every room in this home thanks to its unique, 360 design. The place is spacious and filled with everything you need for the week. The kitchen is huge to make large meals if you choose to. We just cooked breakfast and lunches and wemt out for dinners as the Bahamian food on the island is fantastic. The beds are very comfortable--and I'm a large guy--as are the living room furniture. Now if you are expecting a Four Seasons with flawless bathrooms and towels and fixtures etc, then do yourself a favor and book a 5-star hotel in Nassau. This is island life. And everything about this home accentuates that experience. The best being the backyard which is 5 square miles of some of the most amazing water I've ever explored. Wonderful little keys with private, unspoiled, white-sand beaches where the only footprints you will find are your own. Great little snorkeling spots like the shipwrecked sailboat just 500 yards down the coast. Amazing bonefishing everywhere. This is heaven on earth. But it is also a pretty undeveloped island. So are there no-seeums and misquitos on windless days and night? Of course. Bring bug spray and solve the problem. Are there pot holes on the roads? Of course. Drive around them. Bor an island home, it is VERY well-maintained. Like I mentioned, if you want perfect, 5-star accomodations, don't go to Georgetown and be willing to pay 3 to 4X for a more antiseptic experience. The sea kayaks (2 full size ocean kayaks) and the paddle board are so useful. And the swimming area out back in like your own private pool It doesn't get any better than this--and certainly not for the price. And Tad, the owner, either picked up the phone or called back within an hour or two. He was on it. He has a Bahamian caretaker who will take care of things. But it is the islands and things move slower there. You are not bringing America to the Bahamas. Let go and enjoy the new pace. It can be life-changing. I've already booked my next trip.
