About Rodney

Hi, My name is Rodney. I was born and raised here on the farm. I moved to Asheville (downtown) for a few years while going to college, but then returned to the family farm to live in the original farm house my Grandparents built. We are a tight knit family and we all still live on the working farm. You will always receive a kind wave as anyone as they pass by. :)

Why Rodney chose Smoky Mountains

I am renting the family farm house to help keep improving the overall farm. We are currently re-fencing the 136acres which is a monumental task when it comes to purchasing supply’s now a days.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Take a break from the daily grind. Set back on the porch and listen to the stream roll by.

Our Second Time with this property!

  • 5 of 5

That's right... the first time was so good we had to do it again. :-)

The property owner is on top of everything. Looking for some farm fresh eggs? Just give him a minute. ... One of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in.

This lovely place is out in the county, and it really is a working farm; horses and cows across the street. This is a family valley, and you can feel that as you are driving in.

The owner made us a little fire in the fire pit Friday evening. The night temps were in the high 50's/low 60's so sitting out in the back yard with glass of wine in hand watching for shooting stars was Heaven. Earlier out grand child (age 4) had come over to play bubbles in the front yard. Really if you are looking for rest and relaxation this is the area in which to do it.

Weaverville (downtown) with restaurants for grabbing a bite to eat, and unique shops for spending money is ten minutes away at most. This area just north of Asheville is the perfect place to recharge your city worn out batteries.

Tell Rodney we sent you... it won't get you a discount, but it will let him know we are thinking about him. :-)

Quiet and Cozy! Perfect for our 4 day getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Rodney and family for an excellent stay. The house was exactly as described, and had just about everything you could think of. We really loved the fire pit and exploring the property. It was the perfect location to explore downtown Weaverville, Asheville and was just a few minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Thank you so much for stopping by several times to say hello and ask us if we were comfortable. You and your family are tremendous hosts and we highly recommend the house for families with small kids. Thank you again!!

Very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property for three nights in July. We were very pleased. The house was very clean and well stocked. Rodney and his family members were friendly, but not intrusive. The cable and WiFi worked great and the tv in the living room was huge.

We especially loved sitting on the front porch and watching the birds at the multiple bird feeders in the front yard. We even got to see some of the horses and cows across the street from the front porch. The location was really perfect. It was a peaceful spot, but still just a short drive to restaurants, etc. We enjoyed the coffee shop in Weaverville every morning and Asheville was a quick 15-20 minute drive.

I would definitely recommend this rental to anyone. I suggest bringing an eye mask if you like your bedroom very dark though. It didn't bother me at all, but the sun did brighten the master bedroom in the mornings. There were blinds, but no curtains.

Great place! Lovely setting, peaceful and comfortable.

Great home, great location, great view. We loved staying here. Nestled in a valley close to Weaverville, it was a perfect get-away after a day with kids and grandkids. The property is on a working ranch with horses, and family live across the road. They were very friendly, and offered us fresh vegetables from their garden. We love this place, and will be back!
