About this property

Theater + Game Room + Hot Tub + Sauna | Mins to Smokies | Evergreen Escape

Evergreen Escape: a 6-bedroom Smoky Mountain lodge for 12 with a game room, movie theater, hot tub, cedar sauna & fire pit.

Some houses ask you to go out and find the fun. Evergreen Escape keeps most of it right where you are.

Set high on the wooded east side of the Smokies, this lodge-style home sits well back from the Parkway crowds — towering evergreens, a long approach, and the kind of quiet a group notices about ten minutes after they drop their bags. Inside, the open living area is the natural gathering point, anchored by a fireplace and a big TV, with a dining table for fourteen and a breakfast nook for six just beyond it. The kitchen is fully equipped and laid out for the reality of feeding a crowd: someone flipping pancakes at one counter while someone else is already thinking about lunch.

Then there's everything else. The game room — ping pong, air hockey, foosball — tends to become headquarters by the second night, and the private movie theater takes care of the rainy afternoon and the post-dinner wind-down. Six bedrooms sleep twelve, so nobody ends up on a couch. Two king suites come with private ensuites, and queen rooms, a double room, and twin bunk space fill in around them, letting families and friend groups sort themselves however makes sense. A bonus den adds one more place to slip away with a book.

Outside is where the mountain does its part. The hot tub bubbles away for the end of a long hiking day, the cedar sauna handles the cold-weather version of the same idea, and the fire pit seats ten once the ridgelines go blue. There's an outdoor dining table for ten with a BBQ grill alongside it, a hammock strung under the trees, and a putting green for the ongoing tournament nobody officially started.

Location-wise, you're on the Highway 321 side of Gatlinburg — closer to the mountains than the neon. The Greenbrier entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park is about fifteen minutes down the road, and it's the quieter way in: trout streams, spring wildflowers, and the Ramsey Cascades and Porters Creek trailheads. Bent Creek Golf Course, a Gary Player design, sits at the bottom of the mountain, and the Pittman Center backroads and Emert's Cove Covered Bridge make an easy afternoon loop. Downtown Gatlinburg is roughly twenty minutes west when you want it — Ober Mountain, Anakeesta, the SkyBridge, and the arts-and-crafts loop — with Pigeon Forge and Dollywood another fifteen beyond that.

Most nights, though, the drive back up the mountain is the best part: the porch light on, the sauna warm, and somebody already racking the ping pong balls.

Local Attractions: Great Smoky Mountains National Park, The Island in Pigeon Forge, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, Dollywood, Cade’s Cove, The Comedy Barn Theater, Legacy Mountain Ziplines, Rocky Top Wine Trail, Sugarlands Distilling Company, The Local Goat.

We enjoyed the location of this home. The kitchen was well stocked for our family of 10. Plenty of dishes etc. The bedrooms and bathrooms were good. The property has lots of amenities but things are worn and the property is seeming a bit tired. The floors were filthy when we arrived but the host was quick to provide us with a working vacuum. Overall we enjoyed our trip but beware bears visited daily with their cubs!!!

A family of 10 puts a kitchen to the test, so we're glad it had everything you needed. Thank you for the honest notes on the condition of the home, which have been shared with our team so they can be looked at, and we appreciate you letting us know our host was quick to help. Sounds like the bears made the trip memorable in their own way. We hope to welcome you and your family back again.

The drive up the mountain is not for the faint of heart, narrow, steep and curvy. The house has everything shown in the pictures. Everyone enjoyed the house. There was an issue with fruit flies. They were dealing with it when we arrived. Most of them were killed and vacuumed. There were a few quirks in the house but it was great for our family. The location for going to Dollywood and Gatlinburg was about 30 minutes and the drive is beautiful. A suggestion if you are going: there is not close supermarket. We had biscuits but didn't bring butter or honey so remember everything you use. There are black bears, a mama and her 3 clubs came and investigated the deck. We had left no food outside so they looked and left. But we did get great pictures of them.

A mama bear and three cubs on the deck is the kind of memory you can't plan for — glad you got photos and that everyone stayed safe by keeping the deck clear. Sounds like the house delivered on what was promised and worked well for your family, with Dollywood and Gatlinburg an easy scenic drive away. Thank you for the honest notes too; the pest issue has been passed along to our team, and your practical tips about the mountain road and stocking up on groceries beforehand will be genuinely useful for future guests. We'd love to welcome your family back to the Smokies anytime.

The house had plenty of room for our large family, beds were comfortable, kitchen had plenty of dishes, pans and glasses. The house was far from clean, floors, bathroom towels( one had mascara left on), The outside areas were filthy, the mini golf was horrible, filthy grill and patio. Hot tub leaked and did not work ( AvantStay ) did have someone come fix it after we tried refilling it, the grill had 2 empty tanks ( we had to go buy one) dishes were dirty and the worst was the fruit flies, especially downstairs where my grandkids stayed, we found bug spray and saturated everything there to stop the infestation. Avant Stay offered to send a cleaner but we had already cleaned the house. They were responsive to our concerns. I'm hoping with this review the next guest will arrive to a clean and functional home, which is what we expected. The house is a good size in a beautiful location, it's a shame that it was disappointing.

It means a lot to hear the home's space, comfortable beds, and well-stocked kitchen worked well for your family, and we are sorry the condition of the home upon arrival did not reflect the level of care we aim to provide. We are glad our team was able to respond during your stay, and the concerns you raised about the cleanliness and upkeep of the home, inside and out, have been escalated to the team responsible for the home for a full review. Your hope for the next guest's arrival is one we share, and it is exactly the standard we hold ourselves to. Should you consider staying with us again, we would welcome the opportunity to provide the experience you expected. We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention.

Overall the property was great. Positives are plenty of room for everyone, beds were very comfy, large deck with plenty of seating, mama bears with cubs visited us everyday including coming on the deck while we were sitting there, lots of games and activities for the kids, beautiful location, large fire pit area, very peaceful. Towels are provided but only one per person, so you might want to take some extras with you. When we were there the sauna did not work and the hot tube only heated to 90 degrees. That was really disappointing. For what we paid everything should have been in working order. The TV in the main room did not work so we called management and it was replaced the next day. Be aware the drive up to the house is very steep with several hairpin turns. I would suggest all wheel drive or front wheel drive.

So glad the home was such a comfortable, peaceful spot for your stay — and what a treat to have mama bears and cubs visiting the deck! Really appreciate the detailed feedback on the sauna, hot tub, towels, and the steep driveway too — all super helpful and definitely should have been working properly. It's great that the team got the TV swapped quickly, but we'll be sure to pass everything else along so we can get it sorted. Hope to welcome you back for a smoother stay next time!

We had a man come to the door the first night we were there to say he needed to spray for bugs. That in itself is concerning, I was not told he was coming but there were flying insects everywhere so we let him in and I contacted customer service to inquire about him and I got a message back saying she would check into who he was and why he was there and I never got another response. The house has plenty of room for a big family ( we had 17 people) . When we got there the cleaning lady was still there and I don’t blame her because that is not something one person can do well if it’s quick turnover. My son got on the top bunk and something broke from the top bunk onto the bottom, someone could have gotten hurt, a chair at the kitchen table had a broken arm and when my daughter sat in it the leg broke too ( I’m glad it was not my 85 year old father). We had babies with us who needed bath tubs and neither would hold water, the downstairs tub had so many bugs and worms in it we couldn’t use it anyway. There was a strange smell in one of the bedrooms and we discovered a cup with some kind of liquid in it and lots of mold and maggots. There was a nasty old bra hanging in a bedroom and everytime we moved a cushion or a piece of furniture there was a LOT of random stuff under it. We spent a ton of time cleaning and vacuuming but the vacuum cleaner was not very good. We had to wash the sheets before sleeping in one room because the pillow cases had blood on them

We're glad the home's space worked for your family gathering, but we're deeply sorry for the condition of the home and the concerns you experienced during your stay. What you've described falls well below our standards on several fronts, and it has been escalated for a full review of this home's readiness, safety, and the visit you told us about that we failed to follow up on. Our team has been in contact with you directly and remains available as this is addressed. We appreciate you taking the time to document this, and we're sorry your family's stay carried this weight.
