Located in an excellent part of Silver Lake in a quiet residential neighborhood above Sunset Blvd. Situated between Downtown LA and Hollywood. Walking distance to cafes, restaurants, shopping, bars and farmers market. Silver Lake is a very artistic community featuring various architectural styles of homes surrounding a lake/reservoir. There is a beautiful walking path surrounding the lake for strolls.
This 1920's Era Chateau, is a two story, one bedroom home. Character abounds with a gated & hedged entry leading you into an arched doorway. There are hardwood floors, original wood windows, lovely light fixtures, and remodeled kitchen. Inside of the home is beautiful craftsman wood staircase. The kitchen has wood butcher block counters, farmhouse sink, and stainless steel stove/micro. There is a new LG washer/dryer, all in one machine, in the kitchen. The large bedroom has a new organic bamboo queen size bed. There is a private courtyard with alfresco dining for 4 on the vintage french cafe set. Air conditioned for the hot summer days of Los Angeles.
Gisele and Guy are the owners of this property and bought it as a fixer. After restoring the interiors, they were ready for occupancy. We have lived in the Silver Lake area for over 15 years now and really enjoy it here. Gisele is a Los Angeles native and a local real estate agent, and Guy has been here over 25 years from Illinois, so that makes him a native as well. :)
Gisele Plouffe purchased this chateau / country house in 2011
This is our second VRBO rental and have had glowing reviews from our guests so far. We really enjoy it and always make sure the home is ready for our guests. Silver Lake is a very special place for us as well as Los Angeles in general. It is a wonderful place to live, and growing up here cannot imagine living anywhere else.
We love to own a piece of Los Angeles history. Built in 1920, we are sure if these walls could talk, we would have some very interesting story's of old Hollywood. As soon as we walked into this home, we knew it was the place for us. You will see while staying with us, just how special the setting and character are. From listening to the birds in the morning to the cathedral bells in the distance, it is a quiet hideaway in LA.
We were in-town for a wedding and stayed 4 nights, if you've been to this side of LA before you know how expensive and chancy it can be to book lodging. This place located in a very safe neighborhood couldn't have turned out better for us, street parking directly in front of the private vine covered gate entrance, then 15 steps to your private front door. Interior was super cool, upstairs very comfy, the lower level kitchen/dining area with secluded outside patio couldn't have worked out better for us, this will be my first choice to book when I return again in the future.
We arrived at night and walked through the lit path to the Château with a note on the door welcoming us . The château is adorable and has everything two people can need for a romantic getaway . 10 minute walk to Sunset Boulevard note that the walk back is quite a hill a good exercise. Note that the directions say to keep your dog off of the furniture so we did not know that at first and had to encourage our dog to stay down the whole time. We recommend this chateau and would stay again
Thank you Gisele for a wonderful stay in your adorable Chateau. My husband and I found it to be a perfect place to stay while visiting our daughter and hope to return often. We greatly appreciate all of your efforts and thoughtfulness in having a comfortable, clean, welcoming place to come to.
Many, many thanks!
Our second visit to Gesele's accommodations, very nice and we will be back!
Thank you so much, Gisele, for making this adorable Chataeu, right in the heart of exciting Silver Lake, such a delightful retreat to call a home base ! We were full of smiles and warmed hearts upon arrival, the welcome note on the front door, even for our furry family member!, and the fresh flowers throughout the cottage and all the fantastic chic decor and how spotless and welcoming every single room was ! We were so thrilled, what a charming place to arrive at after a lonnnng drive ! We were so happy, we even "Snapchat" videoed the whole place to brag to our friends and family !!! Haha! They now all want to know where/how they can book too! It's so photogenic but it's also beautiful in person too. It's like a fairytale entering this cottage, which feels like it belongs in Paris. The bed was SO comfortable !!!! And the temp was kept perfect by the 2 a/c units upstairs and down. Honestly, it felt like every detail of comfort was so well thoughtout, like a 5 star hotel. Everything we needed was there, from plenty of correct clothing hangers to ironing board and iron, to bountiful bathroom amenities and a full length mirrors, to an abundance of kitchen supplies and dinnerware, even charming nightligts to help out in the middle of the night, and a pitcher of chilled water for us in the fridge, as well as other thoughtful goodies. I could really go on & on, we felt pampered. We'd love to return. We recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay, it's truly is the best for the price and as cozy, private and safe as can be. Parking right next to the gate leading to the Chateau was always a piece of cake. Plenty of room for our SUV. Neighbors were also so friendly: smiled/waved, whenever you'd see one. And the location is so well situated too. Within seconds you are on Sunset Blvd. Gisele is a joy and very quick to reply to correspondences. If you don't mind some stairs, don't hesitate to book! And enjoy your stay! Just don't book too many dates, hehe!, as we want to come back often!! :) Merci beaucoup !
