Our Weekend retreat from the world!

  • 5 of 5

While picking our weekend get away, I appreciated the quick, courteous response from the oweners. We weren't sure of our arrival time, so the owners make it possible for quick and easy access by giving us door codes in case we arrived late. I was impressed at the cleanliness and how well stocked the home was. All we had to do was furnish our food. The decor was very warm and "homey" we loved sitting on the couches while the fireplace glowed all evening. We slept so well, the beds were absolutely wonderful and so comfortable! It was so refreshing to walk in and feel just like we were home. One of the high spots for us was the internet TV. How refreshing to have access to such a wide variety of programming on the flatscreen TVs. I would highly recommend this vacation home. It was a wonderful experience from the kindness extended to us by the owners to the beautiful decor, the large backyard complete with lawn furniture, firepit and firewood. We actually have plans to book this home again this winter.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure meeting you both and having you stay in our vacation home. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. It sounds like our decision to purchase high quality mattresses and linens for the beds are providing our guests with a great nights sleep. We also love our large private wooded back yard and have enjoyed time sitting around the fireplace under the star filled night sky. Nothing like roasted marshmallows and s'mores on an autumn night. I'm so glad you enjoyed our Internet streaming TV entertainment system. We have 2 young children, and when we stay in our vacation home, we find that Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus subscriptions provide for a wide variety of entertainment for both adults and kids. We look forward to having you stay at our vacation home again in the near future.

Just as described. Clean. Recently renovated.

What a great rental!!

The owners were very helpful before our stay; and were easily available via phone.

Home accessibility is easy; no keys needed.

Home has been recently renovated and is very stylish and comfortable. Linens and towels appear in like new condition. New kitchen cupboards and counters a combined with a wide variety of kitchen gadgets and pots/pans made for a nice kitchen that we could cook all our meals in. There is NOTHING besides salt and pepper. So bring oil, baking soda, seasonings, honey, sugar, flour etc. this was told to us prior to our trip so we weren't surprised. But requires planning at home!

We enjoyed Tunnel Park the most- a three minute drive and just $7 for non residents to park. Bathrooms and vending machines on site. Large park for kids to play on (ages 4+). Grills and tables available too first come first serve.

We would have appreciated a list of owners favorite local places, but they did provide a great binder with pamphlets and maps of the area. We found the other info we needed online.

The beds were very comfortable and the ac worked well to keep us cool. Bathroom was exceptionally clean!! (A highlight for me when traveling with young kids).

Owners let us use a high chair which meant one less item to pack. There is an available washer and drier- being your own detergent. Dishwasher detergent was provided for the new dishwasher and made cleaning up easy (who wants to wash dishes on vacation??). Tv in main room and master have a ROKU device which we'd never used but was easy to figure out and gave us tons of selections.

the back yard is perfect for families. Lots of room to play and the fire pit looked great (but we never used it). I would bring bug spray.

Note for families with young kids and or idea for owners; bring a child lock/anti knob turn cover for the door off the kitchen into basement. It is a long flight of wooden stairs and has no lock on it. Our 19mo old was mesmerized with an unlocked door and really was unsettling. We ended up by blocking it with our luggage but still made us uneasy.

I look forward to booking again and can't recommend it enough!!!! Super, super, super clean. Very well maintained.

Nice family get away

  • 4 of 5

We chose for our family trip this property for it's closeness to Holland state park and because the price was right. The 3 BRM ranch home was nice and clean. The walls have very fresh looking paint. And everything worked as it should. The beds were comfortable and the linens were crisp and clean. Both the full bath and the half bath were nice and clean. The fridge worked as it should. But there is no ice maker. We got a bag of ice at Meijer, no big deal for us. The stove had the front right burner that went to glowing red when I started it on High and it did not quite calm down when I switched it on level 2 or 3. The rest of the stove and oven worked fine. But again no big deal for us, I usually cook everything on full high anyway. And we only made breakfast at the house and ate lunch and dinner out. They furnish a drip coffee maker, while most of the world has switched to K cups. But we brought some grounds of our own as suggested and our caffeine urges were satisfied. We have taken spring break vacations the last few years with our one grand daughter. She has not been happy with staying in a strange hotel. This trip it was nice to have a house to stay in that is much more like home than a hotel. Also I have traveled to the Grand Rapids area for business area many times over the years. And have always enjoyed my short trips to Holland. This is the first family long weekend to Holland. Everyone enjoyed the trip and felt comfortable staying in this property. When we come back we will look to see it this house is available and would most certainly request to stay in the same place again if it is open.

Great Location

House was as advertised. Clean looked to be recently remolded. Great location close to everything we wanted to do. Tucked in a nice quiet neighborhood. I would definitely consider staying at the same location in the future.
