About this property

The Roost - A Pet Friendly, Creekside Mountain Cabin in the Heart of Adventure!

Perched high overlooking Wilson Creek Wild River System, one of the region’s most scenic fly-fishing escapes, the Roost Cabin offers a pet-friendly experience with an unforgettable blend of primitive charm, modern comfort, and unmatched natural beauty. Wake up to sweeping mountain views of the Pisgah National Forest, spend your day exploring the legendary trails, mountain peaks, and waterfalls of the Gorge, and cast lines in the heavily stocked creek. Then unwind beneath a blanket of stars listening to the sounds of the rippling water below. Whether you’re seeking adventure or peace and relaxation, this cabin sets the perfect mood.

Lovingly hand-crafted and nestled like a treehouse, this cabin sits on 5.5 acres and is reached by a natural pathway with sturdy, man-made steps guiding you up to a wraparound porch. From here, every direction is a postcard—towering forest pines, over 35K acres of mountain ridgelines, and a sparkling creek weaving through the valley below. Immerse yourself in nature and make yourself at home while you cook on the BBQ grill, lounge on the porch, and take in the glow from the solo stove. The fire logs are free!

Inside, the bright open-concept layout creates an inviting space designed for simplicity, warmth and connection. Thoughtful rustic details make the space feel homey and large sliding door windows bring the beauty of nature indoors. A plush queen-size bed set under a ceiling of lanterns is accompanied with sheets, a duvet and cover, and additional blankets and pillows, creating a snug retreat at the end of a long day. A dimmable lamp with USB charging ports and AC outlet sits bedside, ideal for curling up with a good book.

The modest kitchenette provides you with everything you need for making easy meals a breeze, offering convenience with a fridge, microwave, toaster, and electric single burner, while including cookware, serve ware and additional essentials. For those who indulge in soothing beverages, a tea and coffee station is provided. The two-way coffee machine is compatible with pods and grounds, plus you will find an electric kettle for boiling water. A portable (hot and cold) water dispenser is supplied as well as a portable water basin for handling dirty dishes. Disposable dish cloths are also provided to make cleanup a breeze.

A fully stocked private 1/2 bathroom sits just five steps up from the main space and is accompanied with an incinerating toilet and vanity mirror. While the cabin does not have running water, a custom portable and filtered water sink is provided next to the bathroom, along with 3/5-gallon jugs of water. There is no shower or bathtub at this cabin.

While the cabin maintains its unplugged, nature-first atmosphere, you’ll still enjoy the convenience of Wi-Fi and Internet during your stay. Just minutes from world-class fly fishing, the Brown Mountain OHV trail system, swimming holes, scenic overlooks, hidden waterfalls, and endless hiking trails, this secluded, handcrafted retreat gives you the best of mountain adventure with the peaceful privacy travelers crave. A perfect basecamp for anglers, explorers, couples, solo travelers, and anyone seeking a serene escape filled with fresh air, big views, and unforgettable moments.
