Perfect location to enjoy Spruce Pine, Little Switzerland and the High Country! The house was spacious and very clean. Bed was comfortable and temps were easily controlled. Highly recommend!!!

The property was clean and well stocked with starter supplies and toiletries The ad was true to the property. It was beautiful and quiet. Tons of deer roaming the woods.You do need 4 wd to get to the river. You could walk it but its steep. We will definitely be back for a quiet weekend away.

The cabin was exactly as pictured and wonderful, very clean and had more than enough starter supplies. The area around it looked like more of a yard in the pictures but you are right on the edge of the ridge, which was not a problem but there was some mowing/ trimming needed as it was rather high and over grown. The river access was a little surprising (that’s where 4x4 was a necessity) but the privacy and relaxation at the river was WELL worth it. Overall we had a great stay and enjoyed the cabin and river .

Beautiful property for me and my 3 young adult kids to spend five nights in. Spacious upstairs and downstairs so we could be together for dinner and game night and then they could head downstairs to play video games while I relaxed upstairs. The short drive down to the river is an adventure through the woods of the mountain, but completely worth it when you get down to the river. It’s so beautiful and peaceful down there and exactly what is needed for fun but also peace of mind.

What a beautiful home and property! Getting to the actual property in the dark for the first time was a bit harrowing but oh so worth it. Opening the door to the home took my breath away. From the layout to the finishes, it played into “mountain chateau” to a tee!The only drawback, if you would call it one, is the accessibility to the river itself from the home. It’s most definitely not a stroll from the house. That’s easy to get past because of the spectacular views from the back deck of the house. You truly get the mountain, woods, and river views all while enjoying a beverage and relaxing. I for one couldn’t ask more from a vacation. Thank you for providing that mountain escape!

Perfect getaway

This is the cutest house in the forest. My stay was so peaceful and quiet. The perfect getaway for a while! Everything was extremely neat and tidy and the host was always responsive and helped me whenever I needed something! Looking forward to coming back :)

Home away from home

Needed a place to stay while in town working. The house was in a very quiet location with deer and other wild life to observe. The bed was very comfortable and the temperature was controlled at east.. The kitchen had everything I needed. Will stay again.

Wonderful secluded mountain getaway

We rented Spirit of the River this past weekend and were highly satisfied with the beautiful house and Pristine staff. Everything was as expected and I was contacted before, during and after our stay. I didn’t have any issues or needs but it was nice knowing they were there for us if we did need them. This rental has to be very new. It was spotless and wonderful. Would definitely rent another property from them again!

The house and location are great. The signage to the property could be improved. The property manager uses a generic information packet. Many things did not apply to this listing, such as hot tub and no dogs allowed. The only issue we had was that the out door water spigots had the water turned off and we needed to wash our dog's paws off. We were able to get that resolved. It was a beautiful place with a great spot to go down to the river. I felt the total cost for 3 nights was high compared to comparable VRBO's we have stayed at.

was pleasantly surprised that all was exactly as advertised. perhaps the only thing that wasn't clear to me was the steep hike down to the river thus steep hike back to the house!! fortunately we are both very fit. they DO say you need a 4 wheeler or all wheel to access river but i thought that meant if you were unloading a canoe or bunch of kayaks. the house was impeccable. the river, in spite of the ravages of helene a year ago, was also beautiful and clean. you do get A LOT of communications (texts/emails) from rental company-- way more than what i needed as they had a tendency to be redundant--but i guess that's better than no communications. its a bit expensive but worth it.
