There are two bedrooms, a queen-size bed in one and a bunk that has a full-size bottom bed with a twin in the upper. The great room was designed with family time in mind. The covered back deck has a patio table chairs and gas grill for outdoor entertaining. We have a full basement that is pretty much empty except for the washer, dryer and now a ping pong table. Designed and built by the owners this simple cabin utilizes many re-purposed materials. The floors are oak drawer fronts that were free and obtained from a cabinet shop that closed. The walls and ceilings are finished yellow pine, the window and door casings have mahogany boards. All of these boards were cut off the property then dried and milled.

About jennifer poarch
My husband and I live in Lenoir NC with our 5 sons, 2 daughter-in-laws, 3 grandchildren and now my precious father. I am an ER nurse, employed with Blue Ridge Health Care for the past 25 years. My husband is self-employed, pours concrete for a living and can do just about anything he sets his mind to.
jennifer poarch purchased this House in 2016
Why jennifer poarch chose Blowing Rock
Rocky Meadows is a special place. My father's great aunt, Minerva Walker Goldsmith, purchased this property around 1929 to spend summers away from the heat of Palm Beach. Aunt Bee was known for her modernist watercolor landscape and seascape paintings. She developed a love for the mountains and sold property to her friends, one being Phillip Moose, who established what is now Artist Alley. As a little girl, I loved spending parts of my summers in Blowing Rock which led to my attending Appalachian State and then eventually meeting my husband.
What makes this House unique
My husband and I built the cabin ourselves using re-purposed materials. What I love most about the cabin is the privacy that it provides. It is close to the road but offers a feeling of seclusion, it sits on 3 acres. It is completely surrounded by nature with no other homes in sight. While the cabin is secluded, it is just a short drive into town. There are restaurants, shopping and entertainment close by. It is also close to the Parkway, Moses Cone and Price Park.

Beautiful, clean cabin!
Dogs loved it! It was comfortable, well prepared. Would love to book the cabin again. Jennifer and Dennis checked on us since we were here during Hurricane Florence. The owners were nice and readily available.
It was a beautiful cabin, well maintained, with all the amenities.
The cabin is in a great setting and convenient to many scenic wonders.
Nice Little Get Away
Enjoyed our mini vacation in this cabin. Close to town but secluded and peaceful. The only thing that would make it better is a screen door on the front and back to get the cross breeze flowing through the house. We loved it and plan to come back.
This cabin is perfect for a quiet get away. It was perfectly stocked and great location from the trails and Blowing Rock. Great home!
Beautiful cabin and great location!
This home is just lovely and super convenient to main areas in Boone/Blowing Rock. I love that it's still secluded though. We had a lovely stay. A little mouse friend joined us in the garbage can in the kitchen, but it's the woods... It happens. I'd stay there again!
Every little detail of this was perfect! The cabin itself was so comfortable & every little detail was thought of by the amazing owners! My family of 5 loved everything about our stay. The location was so perfect-we went snowboarding at App Mountain one day and then skiing at Sugar Mountain the next day. Because the weather was unusually warm we weren’t about to go to Beech Mountain since they closed. Instead we went trout fishing at a local trout farm and then cooked our fish for dinner that same night. It was so nice having everything we needed and even a washing machine/dryer. Jennifer has been amazing to work with and I’m hoping to cement our dates in for next year. Thank you SO much!!
