About this property

Handcrafted Cabin · Sunrise + Blue Ridge Views · 5 mi to Chattanooga

Handcrafted from trees milled on the property — a wood-filled retreat with sweeping Blue Ridge views, just 5 miles from downtown Chattanooga. The 400 sq ft deck is the showstopper: take in mountain views for miles, grill dinner, and watch the sun rise over the city. Hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, downtown restaurants, and grocery stores are all close by. Quiet, private, and full of character.

THE SPACE
Welcome to a cozy, hand-crafted retreat on Signal Mountain. Every wall, ceiling, and floor was milled from trees harvested right here on the property — a warm, wood-filled cabin surrounded by sweeping mountain views.

Inside: An open-concept living and kitchen area bathed in natural light, with custom red-oak floors and large windows that frame the view. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances and everything you need to cook, dine, and unwind.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
• Master Bedroom — King bed, full closet, dresser
• Bunk Room — Twin-over-twin bunk bed plus a pull-out queen sleeper (sleeps up to 4)

OUTDOOR LIVING
A spacious 400 sq ft deck with mountain views for miles. Outdoor dining table for six, a grill, and the perfect spot to watch the sunrise with coffee or unwind with a drink as the sun sets. The lawn below the deck is great for kids to throw a football. Our property also extends up to the 100-foot cliffs above the cabin — a great hike for views and exercise.

EV FRIENDLY
The parking area has a Level 2 EV charger.

THE DRIVEWAY (PLEASE READ)
It's classic mountain getaway style — long, winding, and gravel. Good news: the road itself is smooth, with no ruts, washouts, or rocks to clear. You don't need extra ground clearance — small sedans make it up just fine. The only catch is traction on the gravel, so 4WD is nice but not required, and momentum is your friend. 2WD pickups tend to spin more than anything else. We'd rather over-prepare you than spring a surprise on arrival.

About the host

I grew up in the Atlanta area but came to Chattanooga for college and rock climbing. Thirty years and 6 kids later I am still climbing and enjoying the Chattanooga community. I enjoyed the creative process of taking raw land( just boulders and kudzu when I bought it) and turning it into a place that our family and guests will enjoy. I enjoy hospitality and I find it very rewarding when our guests have relaxing enjoyable getaway at our cabin.

Why they chose this property

I was originally drawn to this the area because of Walden’s Ridge Park which is only a half mile uphill from Cabin. It features Chattanooga’s only purpose built downhill mountain biking trails. Additionally there is rock climbing(mostly bouldering) and hiking.
The view from the cabin is bonus. After buying the property I spent many weekends camping onsite before determining the location for the cabin. Hiking around one morning in the Fall I noticed that from the location of the cabin you could the see the mountains and the Chickamauga Lake.
Lastly, the convenience of being 10 minutes from city center made it a home run in my view.

What makes this property unique

Aside from the aspects mentioned above this property is unique because I used the trees that were felled from construction of the driveway and house and to open up the view to the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance. The exterior is all white oak milled on site and installed. Most of the interior walls are cladded with poplar. The posts and rafters were milled from red oak, white oak, and I there is at least one hickory rafter. Even the flooring was milled on site!
Mornings are spectacular. Sitting inside feels like you are floating in the clouds while the sun comes up over the distant mountains. Evenings on the deck overlook the lights of the valley. Typically, you will see red tail hawks circling during the day and often deer in the morning.
Need a donut? Head down the mountain in jiffy and grab donuts from dunkin and come back and relax on the porch with you coffee.
