Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

Family-friendly house comfortably sleeps 14

Located in the Big Trees area, this Arnold/Dorrington house comfortably sleeps 14. There are 4 downstairs bedrooms, all with a queen bed (rooms are all equal sized) plus a 5th bedroom in the loft with 2 queen beds and 2 twins (bunk bed style). Stocked with fun games (upstairs loft area with Ping Pong, Air Hockey and Foosball) for the kids and a large common area downstairs, you can host a large group without feeling cramped. In the winter, this is the closest stop to Bear Valley and in the summer, you're minutes away from the Stanislaus River and Big Trees State Park and a short drive to Murphys (wine tasting, caving and more). We have a welcome book at the cabin highlighting activities in the area, as well as some fun ideas for in the cabin. Hope you enjoy your stay! (For families, this house has been 'baby-proofed' with safety gates, high chairs (x2), toys and pack-n-play (x2) available).

For summer and holidays, we typically require at least a 3-night minimum but feel free to inquire about 2-nights and we'll let you know.

About Ben Studer

We wanted a house up in the mountains to bring our family to over the years. We're excited about hosting friends and family and making lots of memories!

Ben Studer purchased this house in 2013

Why Ben Studer chose Gold Country & High Sierra

We love the layout of this house, although we spend most of the time on the back deck in the summer. While it's right off the highway, it feels secluded (and there's no road noise) and provides a great spot close to skiing, Stanislaus River and all kinds of activities

What makes this house unique

Lots of room! 4 equal sized bedrooms (so no fighting over who gets which one) as well as a loft bedroom upstairs with two queen beds and two twin loft beds

Great Experience

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 nights here, and wish we had stayed longer. The owner was exceptionally communicative and accommodating. The cabin was perfect for us (8 adults and 6 children aged 1-14). The layout was comfortable and facilitated spending time together. We were traveling each day to Yosemite; my kids requested that we cut on day in the park short so they could spend more time playing at the house! We hope to return soon.

Great house!

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of three families, there were bed for everybody and even comfortable sofas to nap during the day. It was really easy to get to the house even when darK. The kitchen had all we needed and more! Toys for the kids and snow to play outside. I would really recommend it! Owner was very nice and let us check in early and check out late since the house was empty.

Great cabin, great owner!

  • 5 of 5

We visited during the winter with a group of 12 (6 adults and 6 kids) and had a wonderful time! The cabin is perfect for a large group- plenty of space for everyone and the kids LOVED the upstairs playroom. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you'll need. The cabin is conveniently located off highway 4 and plenty of driveway space for our 3 SUVs. Finally, the owner is absolutely wonderful! Full of great tips, very responsive and accommodating. Would definitely recommend staying here!

  • 5 of 5

Was everything the description and pictures said it was. Well stocked and clean. Stayed in the entire time and never felt cramped with multiple couples. Will definately go back and recommend to anyone. Well stocked for kids which was excellent as we had with us a 1 and 3 year old.

Great time with relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The mountain home is a beautiful home to get away and relax. It more than easily accommodated our group of 8 adults and 7 kids. Plenty of family games and toys for the little ones. We played ping pong the whole weekend. We didn't realize how close it was to Calaveras SP where we walked amongst the giant sequoia trees. We cooked a lot of meals and the kitchen was well stocked and made it very easy to prepare food. Ben made the experience easy and is very responsive to any requests we had. Thank you for providing such a wonderful home! We will definitely be back!
