Secluded Beach, World Class Snorkeling, Private Roof Top Pool & Patio, Sunsets
View our recently uploaded YouTube video called: The SandBarr - Roatan - this video walks you through the villa and the beautiful Meridian grounds. The SandBarr is a private second storey three bedroom, three bathroom, modern with a luxurious two story ocean front condo with 3,600 square feet of living space (2,000 on main level and 1,600 square foot upper level with family room, mosaic travertine tile patio and private rooftop pool) where you will enjoy the sound of the ocean, sunsets, incredible night sky views, and the peacefulness of a nearly private beach immediately off the front of the villa. Perfect for that romantic getaway or bring the family for that memorable trip. We do not rent a car - we prefer to walk into West Bay Beach but you may find that you prefer to rent a car - this decision is totally up to you.
The Sand Barr is located at the Meridian, one of the most exclusive developments on Roatan. It is set on the western most tip of the island overlooking the beautiful turquoise waters of the Caribbean. The are five buildings which will contain 19 luxury villas fronting on 680 feet of private shoreline that includes white sand beaches, the 'iron shore' and tide pools.
The Meridian has old-world European styling with a Mediterranean feel. The grounds are lushly landscaped with a newly opened restaurant. An infinity pool is situated along the beach where you can enjoy the sunset. A larger tropical swimming pool with a swim up bar is expected to be completed in the spring of 2017.
Building construction is concrete with tile roof and triple pane German design windows. The inside is finished with the best in granite, stone, and hardwood cabinets. Highly efficient central air conditioning keeps it comfortable on the hottest of days and allows you to sleep comfortably.

About Gordon & Arlene Barr
Our family of four was looking for a investment and retirement property for later in life. We live in Calgary and love Canada but sometimes the winters are a bit long!
Gordon & Arlene Barr purchased this Villa in 2014
Why Gordon & Arlene Barr chose Lighthouse Estates
We visited Roatan as a family in the summer of 2013 and we all fell in love with the island. We stayed at The Meridian and during our trip we looked at other resorts and homes. As the guy said on House Hunters International, 'We didn't come 2000 miles not to go the last 200 yards to live on the beach'...and that thought stuck with us as we looked at different places for sale. Nothing compared to The Meridian! It is private, luxurious and the views are unparalleled, hear and see the ocean while sitting on the front porch or rooftop patio, or gaze at the amazingly clear night sky...all this and just over a five minute walk to West Bay which is one of the nicest beaches in the Caribbean.
What makes this Villa unique
Sitting on the front veranda outside the master bedroom and living room, you overlook a private beach and watch the surf break over the reef just in front of two of Roatan's best drift dive sites. The Honduran hardwood, travertine flooring, and showers, granite counters, stainless steel appliances and all furnishings are top rate. The private rooftop pool and patio are what set this villa apart from the rest. Imagine soaking in your own private pool with a glass of wine or a beer looking out over the Caribbean soaking up the sun or watching the sunset...you won't want to leave!

Beautiful property, villa feels brand new
We visited Roatan the last week of December with a group of 6. We had a wonderful experience with the Meridian, loved the property and staff. The unit is beautiful, feels new and very high quality. Everything was in good shape and clean. The dishwasher was not working during our stay, and the staff were trying to get a repairman. The management put in a new router immediately when the WiFi was not working, which we greatly appreciated. The unit is very spacious and pretty, with an amazing ocean view out the front patio and master. Pool view out the other two bedrooms. Music at pool was a bit loud but festive. Pool area, grounds, landscaping, private beach, swim up bar, beach restaurant (Kismet) and shoreline path along rocks with iguanas and palm trees were magnificent. Snorkeling off the beach was challenging due to a narrow path to swim through rocks, but so worth it! We were told by several people that the snorkeling just outside this property is the best on Roatan! You can easily (If strong swimmer) snorkel from Meridian to West Bay beach near Grand Roatan Hotel. Hope to return! One thing to note is the island’s need for conserving resources. Electricity is powered by fuel powered generators! Very expensive! So it’s understandable why there is no access to washer and dryer. However, we were always hanging wet suits and towels around- part of it! Everyone on the island drinks filtered water from jugs so you do not have to worry about getting sick. We learned that single use water bottles are frowned upon there because they have no recycling capability. I hope they will find a way to recycle in the future! Roatan is a beautiful paradise!
Thank you for taking the time to write a review on our lovely villa The SandBarr in Roatan. It is very much appreciated. We enjoy our vacations in Roatan as well and love The Meridian grounds where The SandBarr is located. We hope that you consider The SandBarr on your next vacation in Roatan.

Absolutely stunning villa, you won't be disappointed.
We stayed at this beautiful villa for a week at the beginning of Oct 2017. We had a wonderful experience from the minute we arrived at the property. The villa and the grounds are immaculate, and the views - just wow! Take the time to read over the information package that is sent with your rental contract, because it is chock full of great information, and should answer any of your questions before you go. We were greeted at the airport by a driver that Arlene recommended, and he was great. He waited patiently for us to stop off for at the grocery/liquor store before taking us to the villa. Because we were there in low season, we felt a little spoiled because we had the main pool all to ourselves for most of the week, and of course, we also had the private roof-top plunge pool. You can sit in the pool and take in the ocean view, it's beautiful! The ocean is crystal clear and fantastic for snorkeling right off the beach; we saw loads of fish and coral there. In fact, snorkeling boats brought swimmers to that spot on a daily basis. We only ate at the on-site restaurant once, but it was good, and you can't beat the view. There are lots of restaurants a short walk away on West Bay beach. Be prepared to climb the hill - it is quite the climb (but you can enjoy that monkey lala guilt-free afterwards!!!) Try the coconut shrimp at Bananarama, yum yum! If you are looking for something a little more fancy, we celebrated a special birthday with dinner at Igabari, and it was fabulous. I made our reservation and they arranged for a taxi all from their Facebook page. As far as excursions, there is no shortage of activities. My husband did a private fishing charter with Herbert at Roatan Ocean Adventures, and would go with him again in a heartbeat. I enjoyed a morning of snorkeling with dolphins at Anthonys Key Resort. Otherwise, we just relaxed either at the property or at West Bay beach. Overall, the villa is absolutely gorgeous, and fully stocked with everything you need for your stay. The bugs are bad in the evening, but hey, that's what you get in the tropics so just be prepared with a good bug spray. If you are thinking of spending some time in Roatan, I highly recommend that you book your stay at the SandBarr! Thank you so much Arlene and Gord for sharing your piece of paradise! Our family has traveled throughout the Caribbean and without a doubt, The Sandbarr is the best place we have stayed. Believe all the 5 star reviews because they are spot on! The pictures don't do it justice. The craftsmanship of the villa and decor provide an incredibly comfortable and luxurious stay. Our family particularly enjoyed the rooftop pool both day and night. A terrific place to enjoy your morning coffee and with an open sky you can see passing satellites along with numerous constellations at night.
The snorkeling right off the Meridian's beach is unmatched. We have never had the quality of snorkeling so easily accessible. We were out there every day, multiple times a day. West Bay beach is right around the corner and easily accessible by car and foot if you don't mind the steep walk. After dinner in West Bay or West End it was nice coming back to the peace and quiet of The Meridian. We chartered a boat with Herbert at Roatan Ocean Adventures for a private ride out to Pigeon Cay for a day of unbelievable snorkeling where we saw both a Reef shark and Nurse shark along with every fish imaginable.
We can't say enough about both The Sandbarr and Roatan in general. My whole family agreed that it has been our favorite Caribbean vacation and we will be back! Thank you Barr Family for sharing your slice of paradise so others can experience the home away from home that you have created.
We were very happy to hear that you enjoyed your Roatan vacation. Thank you for taking the time to send us a review - it is very much appreciated. We agree the snorkelling is absolutely amazing out front of the villa - we try to snorkel every day when we are there. And of course we think our villa is paradise. We hope to see you on your next Roatan vacation.
From the minute I connected with Arlene the owner, she was able to tell me so much about the villa, places to eat, car rentals..... My daughter had 46 guests for her wedding in July, most guests stayed for the week. Even though my daughter had a wedding planner(Carmella) without Arlenes information, it would have been very frustrating. Arlene and Gordon communicated with me prior to our stay with all we needed, rules, maps, places to eat shop, names of drivers, as well as to site see. I thought she owed the Villas😜.
Megan escorted us to our Villa upon arrival.
The Villa was immaculate, and stocked with basis supplies. We were raving about the size of the rooms, the decor, the views of the ocean or the pools, most of all just the overall workmanship.(top notch)!
It was like a pinch me moment. The photos don't do it justice.
The Meridian is well run, and Arlene made sure I had anything I needed restocked, garbage bags or even water. The manager Megan made sure daily to check on us. We were spoiled!
My daughters wedding was beautiful as well. She did have several issues with her wedding planner, but that has nothing to do with how wonderful we were treated by The Meredian Staff or the Barr's .
The service at Kismet-Superb !
Food quality - Wonderful, Delicious
Grounds-Beautiful/Construction was happening daily. For the most part you hear nothing.
The Villa- Stocked with EVERYTHING ! Internet, Games, books about fish/snorkeling, novels, cleaning supplies, shampoo, bath towels, hair dryers top of the line appliances, toaster, coffee pot, microwave, iron, hangers, flashlights.....
The roof top plunge pool is to die for. Appointed lounge chairs and a table to dine while you soak up the sun setting!
3 bedrooms and flat screen tv with your own high end full bath!
I can't say enough about this Villa. Arlene and Gordon have made this Villa a place to remember.
I will forever be greatful that they shared this Villa to my family for my daughters wedding.
Thank you to Arlene and Gordon and The Meridian Staff.
Congratulations on your daughter's marriage, The Meridian is the perfect spot for a wedding, the ocean views are amazing. It was our pleasure to help make your stay in our villa as memorable as your special occasion. We appreciate that you took the time to send us a review - Thanks! We hope to see you back in Roatan for a visit soon.

Really nice Condo in good location
The SandBarr is a really nice condo inside The Meridian. We had a good time, and good communication with the owners. The condo has everything you need, it's very comfortable and spacious. The Meridian grounds and Pool are really well kept and everyone was friendly and helpful during our stay. They have a convenient restaurant and bar on the beach. Other things to consider: Condo is less than 10 min walk to West Bay, but you have to go up and down a steep hill to get there. The beach is very rocky and has no real place to swim, nice if you want to snorkel since the reef is right there, but you have to get out of the rocks first, which can take some maneuvering.
Thank you for taking the time to submit a review for our villa The SandBarr Roatan. We were happy to hear that you enjoyed our villa and The Meridian grounds and amenities. We were also glad that you appreciated our "Notes to Guests" that we provide upon booking. As for the hill, we enjoy the walk but it is not for everyone and the beach is more of a snorkeler's paradise with the amazing reef so close that you have swim out access. With the gorgeous West Bay beach is so close and provides more of a swimming beach experience, our guests have a choice. We hope you consider The SandBarr Roatan for your next visit to Roatan.

There are not enough adjectives to explain the wonderful time we had at The Sandbarr. The 4 of us had the time of our life, and since it's the down time on Roatan, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. We spent quite a bit of time snorkling for free right off the point where numerous boats were bringing snorklers and scuba divers from other resorts, and at quite an expense for those staying other places. The beach is great and very private. Only saw 1 other person the entire week. Got to use the salt water infinity pool in front of building 3 for 1 day, then they drained it for repairs. Glad we got in before that happened. The main pool was very nice and work seemed to be progressing on the swim up bar, which i'm sure the frequent travelers to The Meridian are very much looking forward to it's completion. It will be an awesome addition. Most of our time while at The Sandbarr was spent on the rooftop deck and plunge pool. The views are breathtaking to say the least. We looked up the cruise ship schedule and watched them float by numerous times, you can't take your eyes away from the gorgeous sunsets, and floatiing around in the private plunge pool both day and night are relaxing beyond words. Star gazing is amazing at night and you can just sit and stare at all the different colors of the water surrounding you during the day while listening to the waves. We visited the Kismet our first day there to buy some drinks, but it seemed to close early most nights throughout the rest of the week, most likely since we were the only ones there. The internet worked fairly well, but cell phone service was pretty much non-existant for us until we went closer to West Bay and West End. Other tips to consider...Take flashlights, power outages seem to be frequent and expected on the island. They do occur frequently. Take a blue tooth speaker for the upper deck. Ours was on all the time when we were up there. The walk to West Bay is over a BIG hill. It's a workout getting over it if you're in shape or not. We did it a few times, but never coming back. Get to talking with a few guys around the the West Bay Mall, we always found someone to give us a lift back over the hill for around $8. Well worth it !! Great people at the Mall...Captain vans, the coffee shop, and a carry out plus some other shops.Check them out. I could go on and on but I'm out of space, so just go see for yourselves. It's paradise!!
Thank you for taking the time to write a review from your stay at The SandBarr in Roatan - we appreciate it! We are so happy that you had a fantastic vacation in Roatan. We also love the roof top plunge pool and deck; we spend a lot of our vacation time up there too. You are right about the ocean views, star gazing and floating in the plunge pool being so relaxing. We hope that you consider staying at The SandBarr for your next Roatan vacation.

Roatan is one of the top snorkeling and scuba diving spots in the world, and The Meridian is located on one of the most beautiful spots on the island! Walk the 680 feet of beachfront, from the sandy beach to the famous 'Iron Shore' were you might spot hummingbirds, the local toucan, or iguana's. You can even plan to have your wedding on the grounds, ask for more information Less than ten minutes walk and you will be on West Bay Beach, one of the nicest in the Caribbean. Rent an umbrella and lounge chair or set up your towel and relax in the sugar white sand. Restaurants and bars line the beach, and happy hour is available at most places! You can rent paddleboards, jet skis, parasail, play on the huge inflatable slide / play structure, go fishing, or catch a water taxi to West End.
