About the property

2BR, 2Bath With Lake Superior Views That Change Daily, Sometimes Hourly

Open floor plan home just feet from beautiful sand beach on Lake Superior. Upper level patio with stairs to the beach. Tandem kayak available, canoe and paddle boat available in summer. The two bedrooms are down the hall and across from each other. Both rooms have large closets. The queen room has view of the lake with sliding glass door to upper patio. The patio is huge and has a table and chairs. The other bedroom has a twin daybed and a double bed. The living room and dining room are one large area. There are 2 couches and a love seat. Sleeps 5 only. Kitchen has electric stove, fridge, toaster, microwave, coffee maker, dishes etc and brand new dishwasher. New grill available on the deck in the summer. There is a TV/DVD/Wii and movies. Basic cable (in summer). No dedicated wifi but can sometimes catch my signal. There are many awesome restaurants and coffee shops with free wifi too. Laundry room in the basement which shares the other bathroom. There is no bathtub in the home - unless you count Lake Superior! Two showers total. The basement is used for our storage.

Speaking of things to do, there is an awesome running/skiing/mountain biking trail system in Marquette known as the Noquemenon. There is also a ski marathon associated with the Noquemenon that is in January. Also near by is the North Country Trail which goes across the entire country. Also, there are so many snowmobile trails here that you can't do it all in one trip. The trails are all groomed. There is also a downhill ski area that is very fun. In addition to the wooded trails there is a paved bike path that runs for miles along the lake shore. The bike path is 1/4 mile from our rental. We really have a great location, that is the best part of this rental. About 3 miles away you can rent bikes. We are about 2 miles from Northern Michigan University.

About Nina van den Ende

I am from the Marquette area. Having gone to high school here and never moving away, I obviously love it here. We have 2 children so we know all the fun stuff to do with your kids if you bring them. I work as a nurse at a veterans home and my husband works for the local hospital. He is originally from the Detroit area but has been here for 20+ years. We live next door to the rental so we are usually around if you need anything.

Nina van den Ende purchased this house in 1995

Why Nina van den Ende chose Upper Peninsula

This property is prime location in Marquette. My mother in law lived here until her passing years ago. We are not interested in selling so we decided to rent it. We are fairly new to the renting scene. It is a special place to us.

What makes this house unique

The location on the lake is why we fell in love with the home. The views are spectacular and so are walks on the beach. But yet we are in the city limits of Marquette.

Absolutely perfect property in Marquette!! Right on the edge of town, right on a beautiful sand beach and right next to Presque isle park and on a quiet dead end road, checks all the boxes!! House is very nice and functional. Big open floor plan on main level and big unfinished basement, make the house feel a lot bigger than it is. Used the kayaks and paddle boat that are supplied by the owner and had a beautiful paddle out into superior. Wonderful spot for a vacation and we will be going back.

Great location and outstanding qLake Superior view

  • 5 of 5

Can't ask for a better location next to Presque Isle Park and right on the water. The owners, who live next door, are friendly, responsive and helpful. Big open living area with lots of Windows overlooking lake. Kitchen is adequate. Two nice bedrooms with shared bath (second bath in basement). Master bedroom has 180 degree water view! Highly recommended.

Spectacular view! Best of both worlds location!

  • 4 of 5

If you want to relax right next to Lake Superior, this place is for you. The deck is huge! Owner was lovely & helpful but respected our privacy. The location makes you feel like you are out in the woods & is right next to Presque Isle Park for hiking & biking. Yet, you are on the edge of town & it is a short drive to interesting shops, restaurants, & food co-ops. The older part of Marquette is charming–a great combination of historic buildings and new construction along the waterfront. Big box stores and chain restaurants are also within easy reach if you want them. For a two bedroom, one bath it feels spacious. Large, though oddly decorated, living room and dining area, with many large windows looking out toward the lake. Master opens onto the deck & you can wake up to a stunning view of the lake from your bed. Prop up the pillows and soak it in! Catch the sun rise if you get up that early. Located on a bay, the big lake stretches out before you but there is little danger from large waves if you want to wade, kayak or paddle board. My only suggestions for owners would be to lose the 100% polyester sheets, (especially in this price range). Fix the lighting and/or leave instructions on how to turn them on. Definitely leave instructions for how to work the television or show movies on the system. Kids might figure this out right away, but some of us are not techno savvy. Loved the friendly cat who visited whenever we were outside. (Be warned if you are going in July or August, there is no AC.) Overall, an excellent space. The view is worth every penny. I would definitely recommend it to family & friends.

Owner's Response: It is listed as having no AC. It is near the world's largest air conditioner :) We also provide fans, which are located in the closet. There are labels on the walls near the light switches that tell you what they are for. Perhaps I will try to make these more visible. We are available to call anytime if you have problems turning on the TV/cable, lights. There is not a sound system, just TV/cable/Wii which also plays DVDs. I thought it would be simple to figure out but I will add directions in the binder that is on the counter. I can understand where you on coming from. Thank you for the nice review and feedback. Nina

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

I really enjoyed staying here, the location is great, very clean and large house. Would definitely stay here again!

My only suggestion would be to make sure the driveway is salted when it's icy outside. Providing renters with some salt to do it themselves could definitely prevent someone from falling if it's icy.

Owner's Response: Great idea! Thanks Ryan, I will make sure there is salt over there. Nina

Fall weekend in Marquette

Nice clean house... beautiful view of Lake Superior. We enjoyed the Fall color and a nice walk along the beach. Great food downtown Marquette and a hike in the woods made for some good memories.

Perfect place to spend a week!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place to enjoy Lake Superior and Marquette. We are four retired school teachers on a road trip from Florida and this lovely home was a great place to spend the week. The very large deck and beautiful beach are perfect. The location, right next to Presque Isle Park, was excellent for biking and playing on the rocks. We were also close to town and enjoyed the recommendations of local restaurants given by the owners. The very large living room gave each of us our own couch to relax on in the evenings after our busy days of playing in and around Marquette. The main bedroom is a magical room with corner windows/doors on Lake Superior so you wake up feeling like you're sleeping right on the lake! The paddle boat was lots of fun - only sorry we never got around to using the kayak the owners have available. Great place. Great time.

I can answer any questions on things to do in Marquette. There is always something going on. For example, the sled dog races are coming up in February and are a local favorite.
