About this property

Cozy River House in the Historic District of Cambridge, MD

Our home built in 1916 is a perfect mixture of old and new. The newly renovated kitchen and bathrooms bring the home into modern day with updated amenities while the character and some decors pay homage to its original 1916 river house roots. The outside of the home has new siding and paint along with a cute front porch with 2 rocking chairs to enjoy your morning coffee or afternoon refreshments. When you walk into the front door, you will be greeted by the main staircase as well as a parlor off to the left of the staircase. The parlor is a great room to hang out in and chat with family and friends, play games or do puzzles, enjoy afternoon beverages or just to relax. The next room is the living room furnished with a comfy queen sleeper sofa as well as two reclining chairs to relax in while watching the smart TV. The living room opens right up into a brand new, open concept kitchen with all of the amenities and seating for 6. A great space to enjoy being with your family or anyone you may be traveling with. Washer and dryer located in the mud room just off the kitchen. Upstairs are two bedrooms and 2 brand new bathrooms. One bedroom features 2 full size beds with its own en-suite bathroom complete with a tub. The primary bedroom features a king size bed, a large walk-in closet and its own en-suite bathroom with a double vanity and a large walk-in shower. What makes our home unique is its location in the heart of Cambridges Historic District, giving guests easy access to downtown, local restaurants, shops, nearby parks, and the Choptank River. It's also an ideal stay for Eagleman and Ironman visitors, placing you right in the middle of the action.

About the host

Hosted by Charles Akinmade

Host profile image
I am a native Floridian and, throughout life, have split my time between living in a small town in GA (just outside Athens, GO Dawgs!) as well as living in big cities such as Miami and Tampa. I am a wife and a mom who likes to be outside, can't learn enough about history, a traveler, lover of the beach, all things Disney and enjoy going to sporting events.

Why they chose this property

Cambridge reminds me of the Hallmark Channel and Mayberry tied into one amazing place. With it's access to all things water and outdoors, to great food, amazing people and cute boutiques and grand homes, I love Cambridge. It's 60 miles east of Ocean City and the Atlantic Ocean. My daughter loves sailing on the Choptank River and we love the slow pace of the peaceful town.

What makes this property unique

During renovations, we took the downstairs part of the home down to the dirt and to the studs to update it to modern day, yet we were able to salvage a lot of the home's charm and character that keeps it set in the 1916 timeframe from when it was built. What makes our home unique is its location in the heart of Cambridges Historic District, giving guests easy access to downtown, local restaurants, shops, nearby parks, and the Choptank River. It's also an ideal stay for Eagleman and Ironman visitors, placing you right in the middle of the action.
