Tucked away on two private acres in southwest Virginia, this peaceful mountain retreat offers seclusion, scenic beauty, and adventure. Minutes from Dragon’s Tooth and McAfee Knob, it’s perfect for hiking, about 30 minutes from Blacksburg and Virginia Tech for game days and visits. Enjoy fresh mountain air, quiet surroundings, and evenings by the fire pit under starry skies. With open space, natural views, and seasonal touches, it’s an ideal place to relax and experience Virginia beauty.
We want to make sure you have the utmost convenience! You'll be provided an access code to the side or driveway entrance prior to check-in. The owners are local, and will be able to be reached by platform messaging during the duration of your stay.

Minutes from Appalachian Trail access and iconic hikes like McAfee Knob, Dragon’s Tooth, and Tinker Cliffs, this rural retreat is perfect for nature lovers. Wineries, restaurants and breweries are within a short drive. Blacksburg, Roanoke, Salem and Christiansburg are all within 35 minutes.
The home was lovingly restored, painted, and decorated in 2026, featuring a new kitchen with appliances, a new main-level bathroom, a cozy fireplace in the great room, a relaxing library perfect for reading or remote work, a banquette room off the kitchen with both Keurig and traditional coffee options, a main-level queen-size Murphy bed, two upstairs bedrooms with a queen bed and workspace in the main bedroom and twin beds in the second bedroom.
To reach the house, take VA‑114 W / Catawba Valley Drive and continue through the scenic countryside, then turn onto Upper Craigs Creek Rd, with drive times of approximately 30 minutes from Blacksburg, 35 minutes from Christiansburg, and 45 minutes from Salem.
Using the Fireplace: - Use the remote to turn it on, and make sure to turn it off before you leave.
Using the Firepit: - You are welcome to walk the property line along the fence and collect wood for use in the firepit. - Some logs are provided. - Please keep flames under control and within the ring. - Tend the fire and make sure it is completely out before going inside.
Walking around the property: - There is an electric fence on the other side of the wood fence to keep the neighbor animals in their pasture. Please don’t touch it or try to feed the animals.
Maximum of 6 guests - however, you are welcome to enjoy small gatherings as the property lends itself to outdoor fellowship. There is one bathroom in the house, and it is on the main floor.
The stairs to the second floor are very steep. Please be careful going up and down. Do not leave children unattended near the steps. We offer WiFi through Hughesnet. The area is a dead zone for certain carriers including Verizon. While we are able to send and receive emails and texts, making and receiving calls with certain carriers including Verizon can be unreliable. Guests using ATT and T-Mobile have reported more luck with making calls.
-To allow us the opportunity to assist promptly, we kindly ask that any issues or concerns at the property be reported during your stay whenever possible. Issues reported after check-out may not be entertained.
-Please note that during the summer months, non-venomous black snakes may occasionally be present around the property due to the natural environment. While they are generally harmless, we would like to make you aware for your comfort and safety.
