Overview

About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 6

Come stay at your own private ski chalet at this beautiful two bedroom Olympic Valley condo - just steps from Squaw Valley Ski Resort! This prime location is across the street from the Tahoe Bike Trail, and in winter you can walk to the lifts.

Located all one one level, the great room features a stunning stone-faced, wood burning fireplace, corner windows for an exceptional view, and a buttery leather sofa for relaxing. Borrow a book from the shelf for some late night reading in front of a toasty warm fire, or sit back and watch a DVD on the flat screen TV. There's also cable, so you can catch a game or sit back and surf the channels. Of course you can always just enjoy the beautiful tree-lined mountain view.

The dining room table is set up by windows overlooking Squaw Creek, and is just off the kitchen for easy meal preparation and serving. In the kitchen you'll have all the basic appliances, including a dishwasher. On chilly nights, you can come back from the slopes and heat up a big pot of coconut curry or roast a chicken in the oven. Of course, there are also plenty of restaurants to choose from for an apres ski snack.

Right off the living room is a nicely-sized patio for relaxing outdoors when you're not out hiking, biking, or skiing. Sit out here with a glass of wine in the evenings, or sip your morning coffee while you listen to the sounds of the birds waking up.

One bedroom brings a bit of the outdoors inside with a warm, snuggly quilt and wildlife themed accessories. Settle back in the red and black plaid chair with a book, or open up your laptop and use the WiFi to check email before bed. There's also a TV in this room, plus an attached full bathroom.

A kid's room is just down the hall has twin over full bunk beds and an additional twin trundle bed, and a comfy butterfly chair. An additional full bathroom has a walk-in shower. This home will sleep up to six guests in comfort, and also welcomes one well behaved dog for an additional pet fee.

Other amenities include a private washer and dryer for guest use (no more trying to dry wet socks in front of the fireplace!), and an iPod dock. But probably the best amenity of all is the no-hassle, dream of a location! Once you arrive and park your car in your numbered parking spot, you'll be able to walk right to the lifts and explore the area on skis, foot, or bike tires.

Squaw Valley is a world-class skiing destination with 3,600 skiable acres and six peaks, including night terrain for skiing a 3.2 mile mountain run. And when you're ready to put down the skis or snowboards for the day, the Village at Squaw Valley offers shopping and dining - there are even yoga classes at Wanderlust Yoga Studio. Before heading back to your cozy Christy Lane Condo, if you don't grab a full meal, at least stop at Batch Cupcakery and pick up the evening's dessert. And if you want to mix it up a bit, from here you are only about seven miles from Alpine Meadows for even more skiing and snowboarding options.

In summer, take an aerial tram ride at Squaw Valley Resort up 8,200 feet and enjoy panoramic views of the mountains and amazing, blue Lake Tahoe. There are plenty of activities up here at High Camp, including ice skating, a swimming pool (additional fees may apply), and dining options. There are also hiking opportunities to be found - just grab a trail map before you head up.

Other activities include golfing at the Resort at Squaw Creek, a bike ride on the Tahoe bike trail - it follows the Truckee River all the way to Lake Tahoe in Tahoe City. And if you do want to go on a drive, pack the car up with a picnic, and drive the seven miles to one of Tahoe City's beautiful lakeside, sandy beaches.

For a memorable ski getaway or a hiking and biking adventure, this Lake Tahoe vacation rental in Olympic Valley is sure to please. Bring the whole family (four-legged member included!) or plan a romantic weekend getaway for two and escape year-round to the beautiful Tahoe region.

Squaw / Alpine Ski Trip

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here for a four day ski trip (2 days Squaw / 2 days Alpine Meadows) with my two adult kids (18 & 20). Place a bit aged but perfect lodging for what we did. Across from Squaw ski resort but need to cross the street and the entire parking lot, so long walk with all ski gear. We did it once and decided better to drive extremely short distance so didn't have to walk as far both ways. Nice having two bedrooms so my kids didn't have to hear me snore. My kids were impressed with the accommodations - their only complaint is their was no jacuzzi on the premises. I'd stay here again.

Needs TLC and updating and Wifi still does not work

  • 2 of 5

It is a great location and kept us dry and warm. Beyond that it is rundown and needs some serious updating. Wifi still does not work (and won't for quite a while according to AT&T), so they need to stop advertising that the unit has wifi. The bedroom windows were boarded (as previously noted by earlier review)... no big deal; they had to protect the windows from the huge amount of snow. However the boards would knock during the night (first two nights no big deal, final night was windy so one of the boards was constantly knocking against the window all night. No sleep.) Probably wouldn't stay here again unless they did some updating and fixed the wifi.

We will not be back

  • 1 of 5

We are glad to be back home!

Pros:

1. Location - The condo is across the street from Squaw's parking lot. It is a flat 10 min walk or a minute's drive.

2. The dishwasher and refrigerator are functional

3. There is hot water

Cons:

1. No wifi - Wifi was down but the property management company did not inform us beforehand. After multiple voicemail/email/text exchanges, we were informed the wifi will not be repaired until the following month.

2. Lack of security - The entrance door to the condo does not have a double lock.

3. Stove - only one of 4 burners are functional.

4. Boarded windows - Bedroom windows are boarded up from the exterior. Be prepared as I was taken back when I saw the wooden boards.

5. Remember to bring your own salt, pepper, saran wrap, foil, sandwich bags, etc.

Hallway lights - To turn on these lights, try pressing down on the middle switch next to the entrance door.

I do not mind old or rustic, but this unit lacks attention and care.

Beautiful picture windows overlooking mountain

  • 4 of 5

Great location, fabulous views of the slopes.

Overall great place, but little rundown with some repairs needed. But nothing that ruined my stay. Just a bit older appliances.

Beautiful condo -perfect for walking to Squaw

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay overall. The neighbor above had a leak but he was very polite when having to access the condo while I was staying there. The communication was very good with everyone. The only problem was that the Wifi never worked. Luckily, my friend had a Mifi so we were able to access the internet (had to do some work during the stay). Other than the wifi not working, everything else worked out great. I look forward to staying there again this year! Thank you!
