Luann Doll purchased this cabin in 2012
This property is located a short distance from a cabin owned by my husband's family. Property went up for sale when the economy took a turn for the worse. We would drive by it every time we went to our cabin and finally Lisa said, let's check out that cottage...and here we are.
The 3 bedrooms, full bath and dining room have been remodeled. The walls are now log and have hardwood floors and/or new carpet. It is just beautiful. We plan to continue to remodel the rest in time. The cottage is ready for rent!!! The lake is quiet and you won't see much boat traffic, it is a small lake. You can enjoy the loons from the dock, or listen to them calling from inside the cottage. The sunrise is OUTSTANDING... if you can get up that early to see it. I know some of you can!
I have always wanted to rent a cabin on a lake for a week and just relax. We weren't sure what to think never having heard of the lake but it was exactly what we needed. The lake was quiet and we pretty much had it to ourselves during the week. Absolutely no disappointments.
Cabin was perfect. Three bedrooms (even though we only used 2) a bath and a half. The kitchen hardware was well stocked. Used the fire pit almost every night. Also grilled every night.
Luann and company provided a binder which helped us to find the closest grocery store, hiking trails, kayaking rivers etc. They also had snowmobiling and 4 wheeling information.
Kayaked, boated, swam, fished, hiked and met some neighbors. Best night was the lightening show on the lake - absolutely amazing! But the sunsets were equally amazing!
We liked it so much we will be back!
Thanks for providing us such a wonderful experience.
The cabin is beautiful, the lake is beautiful and the neighbors are amazing. We stayed for a week with 4 children under 10, they were never bored. We did not have internet service and it was so nice to disconnect!
We had a wonderful stay at the lake house. It was so great to wake up and look out the window to see the sunrise over the lake. We really enjoyed using the kayaks and taking advantage of the beach just steps away. Loved,it, and we may be back next year!
House was clean and comfortable, lake was quiet, and fishing was ok. Hosts did take the kids out on the pontoon which was very nice. Hope to be back next year.
We had a very comfortable and peaceful week at the lake. The cottage is well-equipped, the deck and pier wonderful venues for enjoying the lake. Master bedroom is spacious and bed very comfortable. One thing to note is there is no air conditioning but we had pleasant breezes up until the very day we left. Not a problem at all for us. Great place to stay.
We spent a wonderful week at LLT Lake Camp. There was plenty of space for the two of us and our dog. When we arrived there was a personalized welcome message on the refrigerator, making us feel right at home. The cottage was very clean, had all the amenities that we needed, and everything worked (which, as we have come to realize, should not be taken for granted). The pictures posted are accurate, but cannot do the cottage justice. It's bigger inside than it looks, there are large windows with unobstructed lake views, and the back deck is huge, with plenty of space to grill, congregate, relax, etc. Each of the bedrooms is spacious and has its own unique theme. There is plenty of space to park out front and the sandy beach is a 2 minute walk (or kayak ride) away. We hiked, fished, and kayaked the days away while we were here. There are some county guides in the dining room drawers that suggest some good hikes. If you like running water, go for the Michigan Rapids hike along the Peshtigo River. It's not too long, but follows a well-marked trail that is rustic and remote enough to please outdoor enthusiasts. And, the river is beautiful. I recommend renting the rowboat and kayaks if you go during warm weather. Van Zile lake is small enough to get around comfortably with either option. The large mouth bass fishing was also fantastic. Nightcrawlers worked as we dragged them across the bottom near weed beds, and the topwater action was really exciting. We caught several between 14" and 19", decent sizes for this far north-dawn and dusk were most productive. We also met a couple "neighbors" during our stay. They were friendly and open. Do bring bug spray during rainy months, which is not at all out of the ordinary for this area, but also know that there is usually a calming lake breeze that keeps bugs at bay. On clear evenings and early mornings, the loons that call Van Zile Lake home will serenade you. Go experience it for yourself! We had a great time and the owners were very responsive, welcoming, and accommodating. We will hopefully be returning soon. Great stay.

Enjoy swimming, waterskiing, kayaking, tubing and fishing on a small (78 acre) lake. Several waterfalls in area you can get to by ATV. Pack a cooler and make a day of it!! Closest shopping town is Crandon, about 20 minutes away. Winter enthusiasts will enjoy sledding, ice-skating and ice bowling right on the lake next to our pier. Downhill and cross country skiing 30 minutes north of cabin at Ski Brule, Iron River MI. Easy access to ATV/snowmobile trail. Drive your sled out the driveway!!! Our access is onto Forest County snowmobile trails. Forest County has over 400 miles of state-funded snowmobile trails and are maintained by 5 area snowmobile clubs.
