About Steve Shapero
My wife and I both grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and after many years of working in the high tech industry started thinking about where we wanted to retire. After a long search we settled on Northwest Montana, and after buying some property we built our dream home overlooking Swan Lake about 10 miles outside of the village of Bigfork. We chose Montana because it had everything we wanted, boating, hiking, horses, camping, and was within an hour's drive of Glacier National Park, one of our favorite places to visit. We wanted a small town atmosphere where we could get to know everyone and Bigfork was just the right size for us. We love living here, even during the harsh winter months, and we have been able to do certain things, such as dog sledding, that we could never do in California. Even though we have only lived here for a few years, we can't imagine living anywhere else!
Steve Shapero purchased this Condo in 2014
Why Steve Shapero chose Bigfork
We started looking for a vacation rental property in 2013. Bigfork is a very popular resort area, and there were a number of rental properties for sale, but we wanted to buy in the best location, which meant as close to downtown as possible. We didn't want a large unit that would cost a lot to maintain and that we would have to charge a lot for. A 1 bedroom, 1 bath condo was the perfect size for us and would complement our original vacation rental which happens to be right next door. C
What makes this Condo unique
The best thing about this condo is that you can walk out the front door, cross the street, and be in downtown Bigfork. Just stroll down Electric Avenue and enjoy the shops, bars, restaurants and live theater available throughout the year. You can walk south on Electric Avenue, across the steel bridge, and spend some time either listening to a band in Sliter Park or letting your kids enjoy the playground area. Head north on Electric Avenue, turn right on Grand Avenue and walk up the hill to the trail head for the 2 mile Swan River Nature Trail. It's a leisurely hike that takes you along the beautiful Swan River. After you're done hiking you can head back into town and have an adult beverage at one of the two local bars, or grab something to eat at one of the many local eateries. You can wander through the shops and art galleries looking the the perfect gift for that special someone. Being located so close to downtown means you can walk to anywhere you want without having to get in your car.

Me and my wife booked this condo for anniversary trip to use as base camp for exploring the area including GNP. We were not let down. The condo was clean and had everything we needed. Bed was extremely comfortable. The back porch was peaceful looking out over the river. Our welcome gift basket was a nice touch. We picked Bigfork as basecamp because we tend to gravitate towards where the locals go. There is definitely a local feel in the town. There was a local market one night with local made goods that was fun. Local eats are very short distance from condo. We enjoyed walking to Saketome for sushi twice on this trip. Echo lake cafe was great for breakfast. Fieldshead Coffee was solid as well right across street from condo. Raven had great fish tacos on the water. There was many more great eats in addition. I have no complaints with our stay. I wish we had more time in the area. We will definitely come back again. You could spend a week here exploring local treasures and not get bored. I feel like we only scratched the surface.
We found this condo amazing! The views from the floor to ceiling windows are beautiful...overlooking the river and large patio. The condo was spotless and had everything we needed for our stay. The beds, linens and pillows were all very comfy.
The decor is very nice and the furniture is comfortable...we loved this condo!
National Parks Adventure
Our family of five did a Banff and Glacier National Park adventure. This condo is AMAZING. We had plans to stay for only two nights, but as soon as we walked in, the whole family immediately considered making changes to our travel plans to stay an extra night. Unfortunately for us, another family had already made reservation so we had to check out as scheduled.
The place feels “homely,” warm, inviting, with an amazing back patio view. Everything is well thought out, making you feel as if you are a special guest to the owner’s family. It is the little details that matter and Steve had obviously thought it all out. We would give this a 6-star if we could. Our family and friends are already looking at this property looking to book for their family vacation. Thank you, Steve, for being a great host and allowing us to stay at your property.
Clean, comfortable and a great location.
A great place to stay. Easy walk to historic downtown Big Fork with its cute shops and restaurants. The deck overlooking the river gives the condo a secluded feeling.
The condo was super nice, clean, beautiful place. It is right on the Swan River and the view off the deck is so peaceful and beautiful. Its also quiet, from inside we were not disturbed by any outside noise. Convenient to everything you want to do in the Bigfork area. Highly recommend staying here.
Fabulous condo on the Flathead River! We enjoyed the condo and the area so much, will return.
The condo was just perfect. It has everything you need. The wifi was very fast. Great condition and very clean. Bed and pull out couch was comfortable. Very nice linens and towels. We saw deer every day between the condo and the river. Fabulous patio area and the BBQ was a plus. I would highly recommend this condo and when I return to Big Fork will definitely try to get this one again. Thank you !!! Terry from Las Vegas, NV
The Village of Bigfork has many avenues for adventure throughout the year.
During the summer months there are the rivers and lakes in the area, including Flathead Lake (the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi River), Swan Lake and Echo Lake. Boating, Sailing, fishing, kayaking, swimming, and tubing are very popular activities for both visitors and locals. Surrounding Flathead Lake are many cherry orchards which means fresh sweet cherries during the summer.
Bigfork Village has many quaint shops for purchasing one-of-a-kind souvenirs and gifts. There is a fudge shop as well as coffee shops and full menu restaurants.
In the evening there are concerts in Sliter Park, and the Bigfork Summer Playhouse provides musicals and dramas throughout the summer months.
During the day there is plenty to do away from the water. There are hiking trails throughout the area and horses can be rented from one of the local dude ranches. There are also some challenging peaks in the area for anyone interested in mountain climbing.
