Enjoy an easy inexpensive weekend getaway in this rustic mountain cabin just an hour and a half from LA, halfway between the I-5 at the Grapevine and Santa Maria on the coast. Located on a cul-de-sac in Pine Mountain Club, a private community in the Los Padres National Forest. 35 minutes from Pyramid Lake and 45 minutes from Magic Mountain.
Available for rent any time. $140/night, 2 night minimum. 3 night minimum at $165/night some holiday periods. Ask about 3rd night free with rentals Monday through Thursday, except during holiday weeks. (if you're interested in this 3rd night free discount, ask about it when you first inquire, as VRBO won't allow me to adjust the price after it's booked.)
My cabin is located on two lots, total 2/3 acre, and backs up to a green belt, so it feels very private even though there are other cabins on the cul-de-sac. All knotty pine interior with lodge-like furnishings. Two large bedrooms (one with queen bed, one with one full bed and one twin bed); 2 extra twin mattresses in walk-in closet; portable crib and high chair; one bathroom with combination tub/shower; stone fireplace; large deck overlooking wooded area. Large well-equipped kitchen including blender, coffee grinder, microwave, crock pot. Beautiful stained glass window in living room with scene of local hills. Three TVs; DVD, VCR and laser disc players with over 200 movies, plus books, board games and puzzles. Dual-pane windows for comfort summer and winter. Wifi internet connection ("wifi lite" for internet and email, not for streaming) and Magic Jack phone for domestic calls.
Rental includes access to beautiful mountain golf course; swimming pool in summer months; stable with trail rides; catch-and-release fishing in Fern Lake, a 15 minute walk away; tennis courts; basketball and volleyball court; clubhouse with video game room, restaurant, free wifi and lounge with live music on weekends. Village business area has restaurants, market, laundromat, post office; gift shops, internet cafe plus seasonal festivals and fairs. Hiking, sledding and cross country skiing on Mount Pinos (8800') 25 minutes away. And just across the street from the cabin is a lovely wooded area with pathways leading to the village, and rustic tables under the trees - an easy woodsy walk without getting in the car, especially nice for little kids.
In the winter I provide sleds, and you are welcome to use the extra boots and gloves for adults and kids that I keep at the cabin.
This is a HOUSEKEEPING CABIN - the rates are low because guests must provide their own sheets, towels and firewood and must clean the cabin in readiness for the next guests before leaving. Cleaning checklist and supplies are provided; cleaning service and/or linens can be provided at an additional cost. There is no smoking in the cabin. Refundable $200 cleaning/security deposit required to hold reservation; deposit will be returned in full once the cabin has been checked and found clean and undamaged.
Roads are very well maintained by Pine Mountain Club but weather can change quickly in the mountains so be prepared with 4-wheel drive or chains in winter. During snowy weather the rangers may stop you from driving up to Mt. Pinos if you don't carry chains.
There is now Verizon cell phone service in PMC and I provide a house phone for domestic calls.

About Toni Devereaux
I retired from Walt Disney Studios in 2007. Now I love to travel; I do home exchanges all over the world so I know how to make a home comfortable for a guest. I grew up in upstate NY, went to college in Ohio and lived for a time in Chicago, so I'm used to snowy winters and I actually miss them! I love coming to the mountains for the change of seasons, hiking and x-country skiing, or just watching the birds from the deck.
Toni Devereaux purchased this Cabin in 1985
Why Toni Devereaux chose Pine Mountain Club
My ex-husband and I bought this cabin in 1985. We wanted a retreat where he could golf and I could x-country ski and we could enjoy nature with our family. We had thought of looking in Big Bear, east of LA, but a friend told us about Pine Mountain Club which is so much closer and quieter. It's never crowded, even on holidays, and has a real small town feel, plus it's only 90 minutes from my home in Pasadena.
What makes this Cabin unique
When I'm in my cabin I feel like I'm in another world. It's absolutely quiet on the cul-de-sac. You can't see other cabins from the back deck which looks out onto green space with birds, squirrels and the occasional deer. The interior is all knotty pine, even the ceilings, and there's a big stone fireplace. Starting right across from the cabin a neighbor has built a series of rock-lined paths through the woods, with little tables and seats made from tree stumps; it's just a 10 minute walk to the village through the 'enchanted forest.' I love to hike and x-country ski on Mt. Pinos, and enjoy the live music, swimming and tennis at the clubhouse. For home entertainment, I have accumulated a library of over 200 movies on dvd, laser disc and tape. I enjoy sharing my cabin with guests and I use it myself as often as I can; a weekend at the cabin feels like a real vacation.

Beautiful and cozy!
Loved our stay at this cabin! It had everything we needed inside, awesome backyard and loved how many birds came so close to get bird seeds 😍 thanks Toni! Our whole family had a great time!
Quiet, relaxing, cozy.
Great place to get away from all the stress of city living. This was my second stay here and can't wait to come back. I specially like how the owner (Toni) is willing to work with you to make your stay even more enjoyable. Outside of towels and bed sheets, this place has everything you could possibly need. From fridge, to microwave, coffee pot, to toaster, movies and games, no need to bring anything. Thanks again

Very cozy. LOVED IT. Thanks Toni
This cabin was amazing. Had a great time from start to finish. All of my family felt right at home as soon as we stepped into the house. A lot of things inside to keep kids busy like movies and board games. The bottom heater was enough to keep the cabin warm during the night. The pool was close for the season which was something we where looking forward too. Missed it by 2 weeks. We ended up going to the horse stables and the kids loved it. Would really recommend this to others and a place I would love to return to.
lovely place to stay and relax
This beautiful peaceful cabin is a wonderful place to get away from city and you can just sit and relax. Very nice and clean with a rustic decor. My husband, me and our dog really enjoyed our time there and highly recommend the place. Our dog became friend with the friendly neighbor's dogs and she had fun :-) Very beautiful hiking trails closeby and the nearby village is cute. I highly recommend to use the birdseeder!! The Cabin's owner Toni is very organized and she had a good taste of cabin decoration!!
Just what we were looking for!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was clean, well stocked and in a great location for day trips to Sequoia or Santa Barbara, etc. It also has a community common area with a pool, game room, general store and much more. My 12 year old loves horses so the onsite horse stables was fun to visit. We also participated in a "Movie on the Green" night outside the clubhouse. It started at dark, you brought your own blanket/chairs etc, they had snacks/drinks for sale and it was just cool enough to snuggle up with your family. And because of the clear skies, you could see a sky full of stars and mountain ranges. Toni place is quaint, quiet and stocked with all you need to cook, watch movies and enjoy an outside BBQ. Her information "binder" is a plethora of great information for those staying in the home and wanting to explore the surrounding area. There is also a great trail to the common area that is fun to explore and my understanding is there are many trails that originate from the community. FYI, I missed this on my original exploration of this cabin on VRBO but take note that sheets are not provided (a little difficult in traveling by plane) but Toni will provide them for a nominal fee. Also there is no air conditioning (there is heat) .. as a South Carolinian, I was a bit hesitant but very cool at night with the windows open and fans going. Overall, I would highly recommend her little slice of serenity!
Lovely Mountain Getaway
We had a lovely time at the Devereaux Cabin. Toni was very attentive throughout the whole booking process. The cabin has all the amenities you need and is surrounded by a lovely patio deck that faces the pine trees. We definitely plan to come back!
Location
Birdwatching - bird feeder with supplies - birds put on quite a show on the deck. But be VERY careful to empty bird feeder or bring it in at night so as to not attract bears. Boating on Pyramid Lake 35 minutes away. Telescope for viewing the clear night sky away from city lights.
