This exclusive property is located in the heart of Savannah’s Landmark Historic District, specifically within the trendy Design District, on renowned Jones Street, a cobblestone paved lane that Southern Living Magazine called “one of the prettiest streets in the South”. Nestled among Spanish moss draped oak trees, Jones Gem is a short walk to anything you will want to experience in downtown Savannah. Once you arrive, stash your car keys for the duration of your stay because you are just a few blocks from both the lively atmosphere of City Market and River Street in one direction and the quiet beauty of Forsyth Park in the other. Directly across the street is world-famous Ms. Wilke’s Restaurant (where President Obama dined during his recent visit) as well as some of the most popular boutiques in the city. The St. Patrick’s Day parade route is just 1 block away, Paula Deen's Lady & Sons is a leisurely 5 minute stroll through the picturesque squares, and the wonderful beaches of Tybee Island are only a short 15 minute drive. Jones Gem is a completely renovated 2 bedroom 2 bath flat with 1,740 square feet of living space that occupies the 2nd floor of a federal style brick mansion built in 1850. While having all of the modern amenities and cleanliness one would expect from an upscale hotel, the home’s character and ambiance remain true to the historic charm of Savannah. With antique heart pine floors, high ceilings, original moldings, crystal chandeliers and 3 fireplaces, it is also well-equipped with free Wi-Fi, cable TV, and premium fixtures, appliances and furnishings.

The large living room features original wood floors, a decorative fireplace, 48” flat screen television (cable and DVD player) and a queen-sized sleeper sofa. The updated kitchen features custom cabinetry, natural stone floors and granite countertops with a tumbled stone backsplash. The Kitchen Aid stainless steel appliances include a two-drawer dishwasher, 30-inch range, microwave, wine refrigerator, full sized refrigerator/freezer and a Keurig coffee maker (K cups included). There is also a Bosch front loading washer/dryer. Directly off of the kitchen is a cozy dining room that overlooks a common courtyard.

The oversized master suite boasts heart pine floors, decorative fireplace, trunk room, and a king-sized four poster bed. Connected to the bedroom is the private master bathroom, which features yet another fireplace, claw foot soaker bathtub and shower, oil-rubbed bronze fixtures and dual custom vanities with natural stone surrounds. A favorite feature of our guests is the heated natural stone floor.

The guest room has two twin beds that can be combined to make a queen, original wood floors and high ceilings. The guest bathroom, located in the hallway, has a large shower in natural stone surround with a built-in bench and also features a heated floor.

A staircase leads from an outdoor deck off of the dining room to the charming courtyard below, the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine with friends at the end of the day.

We provide all of our guests with an iron/board, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. We are happy to help arrange private tours, fishing charters, boat excursions or to assist in making reservations at any of the wonderful local restaurants. Visiting Savannah for a special occasion? FAQ:

What about parking? Although there is no private parking, there are always ample spaces available on the street in front of the property. You may also purchase a 48 hours visitor's pass from the city parking office for just $12 that will allow you to park at any metered space in the city for free.

Are there stairs? This is a 2nd floor unit. There is a set of exterior stairs that leads to the building's front door. You then ascend a set of interior stairs to access the unit. The pictures show both sets of stairs.

Are linens/toiletries included? Linens, toiletries, hairdryer, iron, dishes, coffee maker, blender, etc.... anything you would expect in an upscale hotel, and more, is included.

Is there air conditioning, internet service and cable? There is central heat and air, free high-speed internet and hi def cable TV.

After visiting the Hostess City for a long weekend in 1998, he fell in love with it's beauty and charm and decided to make it his permanent home.

As avid travelers, we have spent extended periods of time overseas and have been to some of the most exotic places on the planet, so we have a unique perspective on hospitality. One of the reasons we purchased this property was because we absolutely love hosting guests and enjoy introducing others to our fascinating hometown. We strive to provide our guests with the same discriminating level of accommodations and experience that we expect when we travel.

We chose to purchase this property because of it's ideal location and it's true-to-Savannah charm. Jones Street has long been considered one of the most exclusive addresses in town. Very few streets in America offer such character. When the opportunity to own a piece of such storied history presented itself, we couldn't resist.

What makes this condo unique

While there are many nice vacation properties available in Savannah, many of them offer nothing unique. Because so many properties are in recently finished loft spaces or in newly constructed complexes, they are no different than thousands of other condos in any city in America. Folks come to Savannah for its unique history. Why would you come to a place for its charm and character but stay in a property that lacks it?

And don't forget about location. Stay too far down town and you'll end up battling unbearable noise and impossible parking. Stay too far South and you'll be inconvenient to shops and restaurants. Jones Gem offers the best of both worlds - a leisurely 10 minute walk through beautiful squares to either end of the historic district but with the peace and quiet of an upscale residential area. Be careful when selecting a location! Many properties tout their location as being ideal. However, if you are staying close to the City Market, River St or Broughton St areas (north), you will likely have late night noise, young partygoer crowds and parking difficulties (even if you are offered a free space, it will likely be blocks away from your property in a city garage). If you stay near Forsyth Park and the Victorian District (south), you will have a long walk to the areas above and will be very close to the 'transitional' areas of Savannah. Jones Gem is situated perfectly in between the two, offering the peace and quiet of an upscale residential area but within a 10 minute walk of both ends of the historic district. Compare our location to other properties using the 'location' tab or map. You won't find a more centrally located property. Be wary of properties that don't show their location.

Gorgeous Condo and GREAT Location

I could not recommend this place enough. Not only was Michael super flexible on check in time and quick to answer any questions, the place is just gorgeous! Some friends and I went for a bachelorette party but wanted to have a place that wasn't too close to River St as we wanted to have a peaceful night's rest for the weekend. This place was perfect. Its only half a mile to river street, SUPER EASY to walk. There is a coffee shop about 0.2 miles away, which was a lifesaver for me. The cobblestone streets, gorgeous condos and carriage houses and friendly faces are what make Savannah a wonderful place and this condo made the stay PERFECT.

beautiful unit in historic building on gorgeous street

This unit was even nicer than advertised... spacious 2/2 in part of a converted 1850 mansion. The unit was very light and airy - an end unit with windows on 3 sides and 12 foot ceilings made it look even bigger than its 1700 square feet. Even the wood trim and moldings looked beautiful and original. Everything was set up well for a rental visit, from the extra towels to extra folding stands for the luggage. The street was also beautiful, with old oak trees and lots of history. Enjoyed being very close to Forsyth park which made for great morning runs. Was a little surprised by the lines queuing every morning across the street but found out that Ms. Wilkes restaurant has been a legend in the lunch game in Savannah for over 70 years. The location was a walkable distance to the popular riverfront area, but a couple of times we just used uber to save time and energy. I do recommend the large and new shower in the second bedroom as the shower inside the beautiful (but high-sided) tub in the master bedroom is a little bit of a challenge :)

We highly recommend this unit for a visit to the great city of Savannah.

It was amazing better than pictured.

We had a great time. It was the perfect location, close to everywhere so we walked. The house had everything we needed.Thank you Micheal it beats staying in a hotel. Will recommend it to everyone and hope to be back soon.

beautiful apartment

This Jones Gem was really wonderful to stay at for our vacation. The location was great. Proximity to shops on the river was within a short 5 minute drive, or a long walk if you are up for that. We never had trouble finding parking on Jones street. The apartment is well maintained, has so much historic charm, and is beautifully decorated. It was a comfortable place to hang out between our adventures. We especially loved the master suite! We would highly recommend the Jones Gem to anyone looking to vacation in Savannah.

The Jones Gem is a perfect location in Savannah. The apartment is roomy and has everything you need during your stay. We walked to all the attractions and restaurants. We enjoyed our 7 night stay and look forward to visiting Savannah again soon!
