Idlewild Estates House Rental Photos and Description

Secluded 4 Br, 3 Ba Cabin W/Mountain Views, Backs 120acres of Conservation Land

Enjoy this secluded 4 BR, 3 BA roomy cabin at the end of a private drive set in the trees on one acre of land. Take in beautiful secluded mountain views on a property surrounded by 120 acres of private land, yet only a convenient 8 minute drive to Ouray (4.9m) to soak in the Hot Springs or 10 minutes to Ridgway (8m).

Brand New Beds (same as Courtyard by Marriott), New Appliances, Renovations to kitchen and bathrooms. Enjoy a beautiful location with lots of amenities.

Sleeping: The Loft is an upstairs honeymoon master suite with King bed and full bathroom, complete with jet tub and glass shower. Enjoy forest and mountain views from the bed and bathroom. Two main floor bedrooms—the Room with a View (Queen) and The Dreamer (King) access a full bathroom on the main floor. The downstairs Cub Cave contains two pair of stacked bunk beds (sleeps 4). Ten people sleep comfortably spread out in four bedrooms with access to three bathrooms. The Rest Inn Cabin is comfortably luxurious.

Eating: The fully stocked gourmet kitchen is cook friendly. It includes a brand new gas stove-top, oven, dishwasher, new refrigerator, new large sink with disposal, and many kitchen amenities. Enjoy long conversations around the dining table, the living room bistro table, play games on the game table or sip a favorite drink outside on one of three separate decks. All decks have mountain views and forest views.

Relaxing: Hang out in one of two living rooms by a gas log stove. Gaze out the IMAX windows at the mountains, the Ponderosa pines, and wildlife. Take a walk in the 120 acres of mountain forest on public conservation land (BLM) that surrounds the one acre Rest Inn. Take a bike ride down CR17 south to Ouray with spectacular views or north to Ridgway and see the Ridgway State Park. Kick back and read a book on one of three different patio decks.

Access and Amenities: The cabin is one mile off the main road (550) past the KOA. It feels so remote at the end of a private drive resting on the edge of 120 acres, yet you can quickly access either quiet Ouray or Ridgway in 10 minutes. There are excellent restaurants with absolutely stunning views. Take a mine tour or Jeep tour. Enjoy the shops of Ouray’s 100 plus year old mining town or the Farmer’s Market in Ridgway. Lots of outdoor activities like hiking, rock climbing, white water rafting, biking, ice climbing are available in Ouray or Ridgway State Park. Spend a day skiing at Colorado’s finest resort in Telluride or in the summer ride the free Telluride Gondola for airborne views. Fish the streams or golf in Montrose if these are your leisure choices. Less than one hour takes you to Silverton, where your group can ride the famous Silverton to Durango train.

Come away and Rest Inn Ouray, CO.

About Brady

When our family first discovered Ouray, we booked plans for a return trip before we even left town. The spectacular San Juan Mountains are the ideal setting for hiking, biking, and rock climbing.

Many Ouray experiences captured our very soul: soaking in Hot Springs, hiking Box Canyon and the Perimeter Trail, or climbing the towering Cascade Falls.

Our kids enjoy hiking the open spaces, going down the two small water slides at the Ouray Hot Springs, or biking the State Park.

Like a gold prospector willing to sell everything to buy a claim, we found a way to buy this cabin home. This spacious, attractive, secluded cabin drew us in as the perfect place. We take great pleasure in sharing this cabin home with you, our friends whose names we know and those we will come to know.

We intend you find that the Rest Inn Ouray, CO offers space for the rest and refocusing you need with your friends and family. No, we are not a chain of inns—this cabin is our home. We liked the double meaning of “rest in Ouray.” Please enjoy our home and the surrounding forest and mountains of the Western Slope, leaving them better than when you arrived for our next guests. We hope that, like our family, you will return again and again to Rest Inn Ouray.

With love and thanks,

The Bryce Family

Rest Inn - Aptly Named

  • 5 of 5

The Rest Inn proved to be just the place for my wife and me to kick-off the next phase of our retirement life - traveling to beautiful places and staying in a 'home' atmosphere for an extended period.

It is clear the owners take great pride in keeping the cabin clean and well appointed. Brady and Donna were always responsive to our needs and were delightful to work with.

The cabin in particular is located in a place with easy access day-trips to Ouray, Telluride, and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Provided was access via DVD to the movie 'True Grit' which was filmed in the Ridgeway area. We enjoyed watching it and then finding the places nearby where it was filmed.

As avid cyclists it was fun to ride the mountain passes. (recommended for road riding is Hwy 62 toward Telluride as it has a good shoulder and the nearby mesa north of 62 and for mountain biking Owl Creek pass - access just north of Ridgeway on Hwy 550). Also recommend the sedate bike path to Ridgeway State Park,

We recommend this property!

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing Rest Inn! We love to hear how cyclists enjoy the "bike out the backdoor" of the cabin approach to rides. Hope you can come again.

Beautiful cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My brothers and their families recently stayed in the cabin for week while attending a wedding in the Ouray area. It's very attractively furnished and offered comfortable gathering space for the group, including the outdoor decks. It is very well designed for family reunions such as ours. It was a great week!

Owner's Response: Pleased to hear that the spacious layout and furnishings made for a great reunion. The layout is one thing our families love about being there . . . space, privacy, seclusion, yet good gathering spaces, too.
