About Amanda Baxter

We built the cabins on our farm in 2000. We are two miles from the VA Horse Center. These cabins are ideal for people showing horses at the Horse Center because we are two miles away. Only 5 miles from downtown Lexington.

Amanda Baxter purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Amanda Baxter chose Shenandoah Valley

You feel like you are way out in the country because of the surrounding farms and pastures yet you are minutes from downtown Lexington. We have the best of both worlds. The views of the Blue Ridge are beautiful.

What makes this cabin unique

Situation to Lexington and the Virginia Horse Center make this an idyllic play to stay. Relaxing, lots of space to walk, fish, enjoy the countryside and wildlife, yet only 10 minutes to downtown Lexington

Very Nice Cabin and Experience

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our 3 night stay in one of the cabins. This property has 2 cabins and a house that can be rented. If you rent one of the cabins, you cannot see the other cabin while on the patio which I felt was nice. The cabin was clean and was exactly like the pictures shown. It is well maintained. The king bed was so comfortable. I enjoyed my morning coffee on the patio watching the fog over the mountains. Amanda provides coffee and creamer; however, we chose to bring our own. We only cooked two meals here and everything we needed was provided in the cabin. The drive into historic Lexington was only about 10-15 minutes so you can get away from the city to enjoy the quiet of this cabin. After a day of sightseeing, we spent most of our time on the patio looking at the mountains while sipping wine from a local winery (Rockbridge). I didn’t find the chairs on the patio that comfortable. Also, the couch is actually the futon so the angle at which you sit isn’t great. These are not negatives about the cabin, just my perception. I would definitely stay here again. You won’t be disappointed.

Quiet, cozy, comfortable mountain get-a-way

  • 4 of 5

Loved staying at Lazy Acres with my husband and 9 year old son. The cabin was very comfortable and in a perfect location...not too far from downtown Lexington and has beautiful mountain views. We had a very relaxing stay and will surely return for more mountain bliss!

Great rental

  • 5 of 5

This is a great rental. Very clean and an efficient use of space with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The owner is very attentive but not intrusive. Less than a five minute drive to the Lexington Horse Center for those early morning horse shows. We will definitely stay again.

Guests From Near and Far Enjoyed Their Lazy Acres Cabins

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I booked both of the Lazy Acres Cabins as weekend accommodations for out-of-town guests attending our daughter and son-in-law's wedding. Having already met Amanda and seen the cabins, we felt that our guests would be comfortable there. A niece, her husband and their 9-month-old daughter took one of the cabins (with plenty of room to spare!). In the other cabin were two members of our son-in-law's LA-based band, the band's videographer and the girlfriend of one of the musicians. When we stopped by on Saturday morning to see if everyone was doing OK, it was obvious that both cabins' residents were enjoying the heck out of their accommodations while reveling in the natural beauty of Lazy Acres Farm and the surrounding countryside. The views from the comfort of the cabin decks are phenomenal. The location proved easy to navigate to and from -- our guests had no trouble whatsoever finding their way to our house in downtown Lexington and to the wedding site, which was another few miles beyond Lazy Acres along Route 39. Fun living environments, great appointments, loads of natural beauty, a convenient location and a wonderful host.

Christmas vacation at the cabin

  • 5 of 5

My family decided to rent a cabin in Virginia for Christmas vacation, and I'm so glad we chose Lazy Acres Lodge. With several generations present, including two 2-year olds, there was something for everyone. Beautiful panoramic views, a fireplaces inside and out, well-stocked kitchen, and not to mention a great Disney VHS collection, all welcomed us. We made a couple day trips to Lexington and to the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway. Thought about skiing but never went - maybe next time! The beds are all very comfy and the rooms are nicely compartmentalized so you can be with everyone or you can go do your own thing for a while. Amanda was great and always communicative. Overall I would highly recommend Lazy Acres for your next vacation.
