About Vacasa, OR - Central Oregon Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Nice house, very misleading description, lots of little things that need to be fixed

 • 1 of 5

The description for this house is very misleading, if not an outright lie. We rented it because of its proximity to a neighborhood pool and tennis courts. The description mentions those amenities as do many of the prior reviewers. Even the access instructions provided by VRBO/VACASA talk about a pool and tennis court key in the house to access those facilities. Upon checkin, and looking for the key, we were told by a VACASA agent that the homeowners association recently changed their policy and now only allows owners to use the facilities. We contacted VRBO/VACASA and they said they "forgot" to update the information. This messed up our entire weekend, as we had planned to hit the pool and tennis courts daily. My wife's parents were visiting from New York and are big into tennis. They had planned to play there every morning.

In addition to that, there were a lot of other issues with the house:

- My wife fell through a dining table chair at dinner the first night. She leaned back and it collapsed. Luckily she is in good shape. If it had been one of the grandparents that were attending, they might have broken a hip.

- There were no clean sponges for dishes.

- The upstairs toilet didn't flush or barely flushed.

- Several of the windows that should have opened were broken.

- The master bathroom bathmat was dirty and had not been cleaned.

- There were mouse droppings in cabinets.

- The coffee table wobbles a couple inches and it close to collapse.

- All the bedroom pillows were paper thin.

- Upon first use of the BBQ, the propane ran out after about 1 minute. Thankfully, there was a spare tank in the garage.

- The BBQ grill brush was completely worthless. Looked like it was last replaced in the 90's.

Overall, the house is nice, it just needs some updating and better care. However, I would not rent it again after this experience.

We feel ripped off by VACASA/VRBO. BEWARE!

Owner's Response: We sincerely apologize that this visit did not meet this guest's expectations. We appreciate receiving this feedback and would like to respond to the list included in the review. The broken chair has been removed from the home, we will remind housekeeping to leave sponges for guest use, the windows have been fixed, the rugs have been washed, mouse traps have been set, the coffee table will be repaired, and a new BBQ brush will be purchased. We have advised the owner of the toilet and pillows. Thank you!

No longer able to use the closest pool

 • 1 of 5

We booked this house after reading all the reviews that said the best thing about it is that it's 2 doors down from the pool. We also confirmed by looking at the satellite view that it is indeed within walking distance to a pool. The check-in confirmation email from Vacasa the week before our arrival also confirmed that the house comes with access to this neighborhood pool.

Upon arrival, we were unable to find the cardkey needed to access the pool. After a few calls to Vacasa we were finally told that 2 weeks prior to our arrival, the HOA changed the rules and no longer allowed guests to use the neighborhood pool, and that someone from Vacasa was supposed to inform us but didn't. We were redirected to the 2 resort pools, both are quite far from the house. We drove to check them out and both were very small and ridiculously crowded on the one 99F day that we wanted to use the pool, so we were unable to use them. We told Vacasa that the primary reason we rented this house was because of its proximity to this pool that we can walk to, and that had they informed us timely we would've changed our reservation, but they refused to compensate us in any way. I guess customer satisfaction was nowhere near as important to them as making a few extra bucks.

As far as the house itself, it is an older home (built in the 90s?) that is not particularly well maintained. It's spacious and has a nice big deck fronting the golf course. The AC worked well after we figured out how to set it. The kitchen is big and has its usual stash of worn out pots and pans and dull knives as what you would expect in most rental homes.

The moment we walked in we were immediately greeted with a very strong odor of either cat litter or rodent droppings. We tried to open the windows to air things out and found out most of the windows were broken and wouldn't open. The smell was so strong we couldn't sleep the first night. The house was also quite dusty with cobweb on picture frames and had very dusty blinds. One of the bathroom floors was not very clean when we got there. The mattress in the King bed upstairs was so soft it gave my husband a backache the next day. The bed also squeaked and made a lot of noise at the slightest of movement.

I would not rent this house again and I certainly would not rent from Vacasa ever again.

No longer able to use neighborhood pool

 • 1 of 5

We rented this house because we saw from the map that it was 2 doors down from the pool. Many of the reviews said the best thing about this house is that it's within walking distance to the pool. Our check-in confirmation mail also said this house comes with access to that neighborhood pool. Upon checking in, we could not find the card key needed to access the pool. After several calls to customer service, we were finally informed that the HOA had a change of rules a couple of weeks prior to our arrival and that guests are no longer allowed to use that neighborhood pool, only homeowners are now allowed. Had Vacasa informed us timely we would've switched to a different house. The 2 resort pools were tiny and super crowded, and far from the house so you have to drive to them, i.e. they were as good as useless to us. Vacasa refused to compensate us for their gaffe despite the fact that it greatly marred our vacation. Apparently customer satisfaction is nowhere near as important to them as making a few extra bucks.

As far as the house itself, it is spacious and has a nice big deck that's on the golf course, but it is an older home (built in the 90s?) that is not particularly well maintained. The minute we walked in, we were immediately greeted with a very strong cat litter odor. The first night the odor was so strong it kept us up. The next day we tried to open some windows to get some fresh air and found out half the windows were broken and couldn't even open. We also noticed cobwebs on the picture frames upstairs and a lot of dust on the blinds, the downstairs bathroom floor was also not very clean when we checked in. The King bed upstairs has a mattress so soft it gave my husband serious back pain the next day. The kitchen is well stocked with the usual requisite useless pots and pans, i.e. non-stick pans so scratched up they are no longer non-stick, seems de rigueur for rental homes these days.

I would not rent this house again, especially now that it no longer has access to that neighborhood pool, and I definitely would not rent anything from Vacasa ever again.

Great location. The house is showing its age. Kitchen cupboards have dark stains where years of hands have pulled on doors and drawers (there were no pulls). No ceiling fans caused the upstairs to overheat when the ground floor was a comfortable temperature. Even so, the visit would have been a "4" except for VACASA. There is no need to add hundreds of service and other charges to the presentation set up by VRBO. The owner is ducking a responsibility. We will never rent another property which uses VACASA as a secondary manager.
