Best location in Gig Harbor!
We reserved this property because a friend effused to my wife about how great it is. (The friend has stayed there several times.) I was skeptical, thinking that it couldn't possibly live up to its billing. But it does. In fact, it exceeded. The owner had several delicious treats waiting for us when we arrived. We immediately felt at home. The view of the harbor is unobstructed and gorgeous. We could have sat on the deck and watched the boats come and go for hours. But there was no time for that with so much to do within driving distance. Seattle is less than an hour east. Olympia National Park is 1.5 - 2 hours west, depending on which entrance you take. Tacoma is 20 minutes or less. And even when we did hang around the house, there is plenty to do, with kayaks and a paddleboard free for the guests' use. Oh...and the hot tub! The kitchen is fully equipped and we cooked several meals. We bought most of our own food, but when we realized we were missing something, there it was in the pantry, cupboard, or refrigerator. When we did eat out, there were great restaurants nearby. Try the fish 'n chips and clam chowder at Tides Tavern. (But if you have kids under 21, you have to get the food to go.) On our first morning in the house a bald eagle flew past the window, and we saw them several other times as we sat on the deck and kayaked in the harbor. The whole experience was magical. I will definitely recommend this home to others.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Dianne is a great host, very responsive and her home was well appointed for a week long stay. Beautiful view of the harbor, loved the hot tub, kayaks and paddle board. If we make a return trip to this area, we would definitely book again with Dianne. For those making their first trip to the area, Gig Harbor was ideally located for what we wanted to do. 50 minute drive to Seattle - easy day trip and stayed for a dinner. Great location if you want to visit Olympic National Park and Mount Rainier National Park. Under 2 hours drive to each park. We went for day hikes in both parks and really enjoyed the soothing hot tub while watching the sunset afterwards. Dianne's Gig Harbor restaurant suggestions are excellent - follow her advice.
We had a lovely five-day stay at Dianne's place - the views are gorgeous, the beds are comfortable, the house is very clean and very well equipped. We used the kayaks and paddle board every day which was great. Dianne was a generous host, leaving us lovely wine, coffee and pumpkin bread and being very flexible for check in and out. Thanks Dianne!
Great week in Gig Harbor. Unbelievable views of the Harbor and great house with all the amenities. Comfortable beds, hot tub, kayaks, paddle board etc. Just a short paddle across the harbor to fantastic restaurants. Easy drive to Seattle to catch a game or shopping. Great service from the owner. We will be back for sure. It's such a beautiful, quiet place to relax and spend time with family. Thanks!
