Famous Mt. LeConte Dramatically Ascends over One Mile Directly in front of Spectacular Vista Lodge, making it the Tallest Mountain East of the Mississippi River. The View of Mt. LeConte from Spectacular Vista Lodge is truly Breathtaking.

Spectacular Vista Lodge features an incredible Great Room with a soaring 25 foot ceiling. The Great Room features a 60 Inch Flatscreen HDTV and Bluray DVD Player and wood-burning fireplace in an expansive living area. The Dining Area of the Great Room offers two dining room tables that seat 20 at one time, all with Striking Views of the Great Smoky Mountains.

The Game Room on the Third Floor features a Regulation Size Pool Table and full-sized Foosball table.

Spectacular Vista Lodge is located in the middle of 100 acres of virgin forest but is, almost unbelievably, only 3 minutes from traffic light #1 in downtown Gatlinburg and 9 minutes from traffic light #10 in Pigeon Forge. There are only 3 cabins on this section of the mountain spread out over 100+ acres.

Go to traffic light #1 in Gatlinburg. Turn (the only way you can turn). Go ¾ of a mile to Kristis Place on the left. (If you get to an apartment complex, you have gone too far.) Turn left and go .4 miles. Spectacular Vista Lodge is the fourth cabin on the right and is much larger than all of the others.

Check-in: There is a lockbox next to the back door. The key to the cabin is inside the lockbox. Open the lockbox, take out the key, and go in. Check-in is that simple. Please text (865) 253-4626 several hours before your arrival with your cabin name for the most recent lockbox code and cleaning schedule. We are flexible on check-in and check-out times. Usually check-in is at 4pm but you can come in as soon as it is cleaned. Usually check-out is at 10am but we can often arrange a later time.

Pet Fee: Pets are welcome. Please add $48 to the total for the pet fee.

WIFI: We have Verizon Jetpacks for WIFI which can handle up to 10 devices at one time. We ask that you not download movies or videos though as each movie costs us approximately $30 once we go over our monthly limit.

Cancellation Policy: If you have to cancel, please give us as much notice as possible. We will return all of the deposit for all of the nights that we can rebook.

Reservations: To make a reservation, please send a request via email to the manager requesting the specific cabin and dates and wait for a responding email confirming the reservation. SENDING THE DEPOSIT DOES NOT MAKE THE RESERVATION. We make the reservation for the party who EMAILS us first requesting the reservation, not the one which sends the deposit first. Thank you.

Deposit: If you make a reservation, we ask people to send 50% of the total (or more if you wish) as a deposit. You can pay by check or credit or debit card if you have a PayPal account.

Email the manager to get more information on Spectacular Vista Lodge.

About Edward Bates

We have completed a Revolutionary, 4-part business plan.

Originally, we built this cabin 22 years ago. We quickly developed a loyal clientele who returned year-after-year and sometimes several times a year. We were packed. We then changed to a management company which raised the prices and added extra fees and we lost our loyal clientele from the '90s.

Now, here's our Revolutionary, 4-Part Business Plan.

First, we created a product that is much better than it was in the '90s. We completely restored the Lodge to a condition even better than when it was new. Also, we reengineered the road to meet the highest city standards. Finally, we installed WIFI and 8 Flatscreen TVs in the Lodge, one 65" in size.

Second, we removed the trees in front and beside the Lodge to create, arguably, the best 180 degree view of the Great Smoky Mountains anywhere.

Third, we decided not to require that the guests put the typical $100.00-$500.00 security deposit, purchase $39.00 insurance policy, or even a submit a credit card number! Everything's on the honor system! That's why the final bill is so low. The honor system is working. Not one item has been stolen or broken!

Finally, we made the most Revolutionary move. We fired our management company, listed the Lodge with VRBO and slashed prices LOWER than in the '90s! As a result, we have booked over 200 nights in the past several months and received 12 5-Star Reviews! We are developing a new, loyal clientele that is already rebooking for next year. This allows us to spend less time marketing and more time continuing to improve the property to the highest standards possible.

Our corporate mission is the same as the Apple and Disney Corporations: to offer a great product at a great price and make people happy. Our 40+ 5 Star Reviews and repeat clientele show that its working. Please join our family of friends who vacation with us over and over.

Edward Bates purchased this cabin in 1993

What makes this cabin unique

The Great Smoky Mountains are our great love and passion. We believe you will fall in love with them too. The greatest compliment we have received on the property has come from about a dozen guests over the past five years who have asked, 'Is this a part of the National Park?' The boundary between our Property and the National Park is almost indistinguishable. The photos are real and not retouched. Remarkably, our forest appears to be contiguous with the National Park. We truly have one of the best views and one of the best locations in America.

Owner Is The Best!

  • 5 of 5

I just wanted to say one thing, and that is how fabulous this owner is. My sister came down with a serious illness and we needed to cancel our vacation. The owner had no problem with refunding us our entire payment due to this extinuating circumstance. Our vacation was supposed to be 6-11 through 6-17, and I am sure he would love to have our slot booked. This house will be our first choice from now on, and I so wish we could have came. The renovations look beautiful! Don't pass this house up, because it's a keeper!

Owner's Response: These guests were great. We received several inches of snow this weekend and, when a young couple from another cabin backed into a ditch, they came down twice to help get them out. Since the fire everyone has been wonderful but this party went above and beyond. Thanks Again!

Thanksgiving 2016 Amazing View

  • 5 of 5

This was our first Thanksgiving in the mountains. Our family Thanksgiving included 18 family members. The drive up looks more intimidating than it is. Our daughters meeting us there were both in their small SUV's and made it up just fine without issue. There were a couple of family members in small compact cars, they had no issue either. There was plenty of parking for 9 vehicles including a large SUV & truck, just parked them close together. The view was spectacular from the decks and also the bottom floor. It was absolutely breathtaking. The kitchen was perfect in seating all 18 of us at two large tables. We were cooking Thanksgiving dinner and had plenty of room to prepare. Our turkeys were cooked outside so no worry on oven space. The cabin was clean and accommodating with the 6 bathrooms, even though we had to share it was no issue. There was one bath with very low water pressure and Ed the owner was very quick to respond and take care of the problem. The kids & some of the adults enjoyed the loft with the pool table & foosball. It was NCAA football that Saturday and plenty of room for us all to watch our games in the main room, and if you happened to be wanting to stay up on another game, there were large tv's in many of the bedrooms. Trash was no issue for us. We would let Ed know we put the trash out in the morning & it would be picked up shortly after. I was so hoping to see a bear! The hot tub was used almost every night with no problems. The stars at night were amazing as well as looking at the lights in Gatlinburg! The only thing I can really suggest in a cabin this large is maybe another refrigerator, we had no issue as we all had large coolers. (We were cooking Thanksgiving so maybe we just had way too much food). The day we left we noticed on our way home the fire on chimney top mtn. We are so saddend by the damage that has resulted from the fire. I am so hoping & praying Ed's Large Cabin with the Stunning View has not been touched. Thank you Ed for allowing us to have such a wonderful Thanksgiving at your place of Paradise. Prayers for you & all the families that have been affected by this devastating fire.

Great Bear siting opportunities

  • 3 of 5

The cabin was about average from what we've rented in the past, when we arrived the owners worked very hard to accommodate our arrival, they were recovering from flooding of the bottom floor from a broken pipe. The cabin itself was nice, the issues we were having was parking and the hill climb to the cabin, pictures on this site were not update, it looks as if the re-done the parking area and build a retaining wall that remove most of the parking area in front of the cabin. The drive up to the cabin was not idea for a car, luckily it was not raining because the road is a not paved, it would have been nice if this site would have gave warning about the many transitional bumps, large pot holes and gravel road (would have drove my truck). Trash was our issue because the owner only supply one trash can that was not Bear proof. We had a visitor which was kind of cool-large Black bear, great photo opportunity!

Amazing views, great owner

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on 4/1/2016 for our family spring break vacation. There were 5 families, 18 people total. Communication from Ed, the owner, was excellent throughout the booking and up to our arrival and during our stay. Ed was very prompt in addressing questions and helpful with any requests.

The drive up to the lodge on Kristis Place is intimidating at first, steep and bumpy, but easily navigated in good weather in any vehicle. The lodge was still in the renovation process, and there were a few loose ends that were left undone, however they in no way affected our stay or the enjoyment of our families. The hot tub did malfunction, but it was on our last day and Ed was very responsive in getting the problem addressed. My sisters family showed up with their large dog (unbeknownst to me and the property owner). Ed was more than accommodating given the situation and simply expressed his wishes for us to enjoy our time on vacation and not to worry. How many property owners would do that?

There is plenty of room on the main floor for a large gathering, plenty of seating and the kitchen is large enough to prepare large meals without issue. The loft was a hit with the kids and teenagers, playing pool and Foosball. Each family had their own bathroom, and most are connected to the bedrooms making late night trips unnoticeable to others.

Now the best part, the view! Absolutely breathtaking! Mt. LeConte is directly out the front windows and both decks. Watching the sunrise is amazing, and the nights looking over Gatlinburg and the surrounding mountains will bring joy to your heart. This is truly a special place, and we will surely return, as will you I'm sure.

Thanks again Ed!

Spring Break

  • 5 of 5

The cabin has the best view! The big spectacular windows are wonderful to see the mountains! There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone, we did have a large family. The very first floor has many bedrooms and bathrooms, while it is still in renovation, the owner is working very hard to make it completely disability accommodating! While it sits on top of the mountain, the drive way was a little scary for me, UP HILL.. but the owner worked diligently the entire time on the road and other aspects. The second floor that has the kitchen and big huge family style tables, was beautiful, there are two bedrooms and baths on this floor, a TV that looks like a movie screen, wow, if we could have fit it in our car! The loft area has the pool table and a sofa on it, the kids enjoyed playing pool. We only had a couple of items that we discussed with the owner and he was very kind and worked with us to fix what he could. I would love to go back once all the renovations and outside work is complete, I know that it will be a beautiful spot after the Owner is complete with his plans.
