Spectacular Vista Lodge is located in the middle of 100 acres of virgin forest but is, almost unbelievably, only 3 minutes from traffic light #1 in downtown Gatlinburg and 9 minutes from traffic light #10 in Pigeon Forge. There are only 3 cabins on this section of the mountain spread out over 100+ acres.

Go to traffic light #1 in Gatlinburg. Turn (the only way you can turn). Go ¾ of a mile to Kristis Place on the left. (If you get to an apartment complex, you have gone too far.) Turn left and go .4 miles. Spectacular Vista Lodge is the fourth cabin on the right and is much larger than all of the others.

Check-in: There is a lockbox next to the back door. The key to the cabin is inside the lockbox. Open the lockbox, take out the key, and go in. Check-in is that simple. Please text (865) 253-4626 several hours before your arrival with your cabin name for the most recent lockbox code and cleaning schedule. We are flexible on check-in and check-out times. Usually check-in is at 4pm but you can come in as soon as it is cleaned. Usually check-out is at 10am but we can often arrange a later time.

Pet Fee: Pets are welcome. Please add $48 to the total for the pet fee.

WIFI: We have Verizon Jetpacks for WIFI which can handle up to 10 devices at one time. We ask that you not download movies or videos though as each movie costs us approximately $30 once we go over our monthly limit.

Cancellation Policy: If you have to cancel, please give us as much notice as possible. We will return all of the deposit for all of the nights that we can rebook.

Reservations: To make a reservation, please send a request via email to the manager requesting the specific cabin and dates and wait for a responding email confirming the reservation. SENDING THE DEPOSIT DOES NOT MAKE THE RESERVATION. We make the reservation for the party who EMAILS us first requesting the reservation, not the one which sends the deposit first. Thank you.

Deposit: If you make a reservation, we ask people to send 50% of the total (or more if you wish) as a deposit. You can pay by check or credit or debit card if you have a PayPal account.

Email the manager to get more information on Spectacular Vista Lodge.

About Edward Bates

We have completed a Revolutionary, 4-part business plan.

Originally, we built this cabin in 1993. We quickly developed a loyal clientele who returned year-after-year and sometimes several times a year. We were packed. We then changed to a management company which raised the prices and added extra fees and we lost our loyal clientele from the '90s.

Now, here's our Revolutionary, 4-Part Business Plan.

First, we created a product that is much better than it was in the '90s. We completely restored the Lodge to a condition even better than when it was new. Also, we reengineered the road to meet the highest city standards. Finally, we installed WIFI and 8 Flatscreen TVs in the Lodge, one 65" in size.

Second, we removed the trees in around the Lodge to create, arguably, the best 180 degree view of the Smoky Mountains from the Tennessee side. You can literally see the entire Tennessee side of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

Third, we decided not to require that the guests put the typical $100.00-$500.00 security deposit, purchase $39.00 insurance policy, or even a submit a credit card number! Everything's on the honor system! That's why the final bill is so low. The honor system is working. Not one item has been stolen or broken!

Finally, we made the most Revolutionary move. We fired our management company, listed the Lodge with VRBO and slashed prices LOWER than in the '90s! This allows us to spend less time marketing and more time continuing to improve the property to the highest standards possible.

Our corporate mission is the same as the Apple and Disney Corporations: to offer a great product at a great price and make people happy. Our 40+ 5 Star Reviews and repeat clientele show that its working. Please join our family of friends who vacation with us over and over

What makes this cabin unique

The Great Smoky Mountains are our great love and passion. We believe you will fall in love with them too. The greatest compliment we have received on the property has come from about a dozen guests over the past five years who have asked, 'Is this a part of the National Park?' The boundary between our Property and the National Park is almost indistinguishable. The photos are real and not retouched. Remarkably, our forest appears to be contiguous with the National Park. We truly have one of the best views and one of the best locations in America.

Owner Is The Best!

  • 5 of 5

I just wanted to say one thing, and that is how fabulous this owner is. My sister came down with a serious illness and we needed to cancel our vacation. The owner had no problem with refunding us our entire payment due to this extinuating circumstance. Our vacation was supposed to be 6-11 through 6-17, and I am sure he would love to have our slot booked. This house will be our first choice from now on, and I so wish we could have came. The renovations look beautiful! Don't pass this house up, because it's a keeper!

Ok cabin with water/plumbing issues

  • 2 of 5

Although customer service was excellent the property had plumbing issues our whole stay to the point the water was turned off several times. We couldn't flush the toilet or wash our hands. We had a couple of jacuzzi tubs but was told not to take baths because of the plumbing. Several showers had didn't have knobs. We had to use pliers to turn on and off. Items previously left in the fridge. Several people in our group tried to find a hotel room. Said cabin wasn't clean enough for them. Others in my group was comfortable just didn't like the plumbing issue. You get what you pay for and it was worth the price we paid.

Owner's Response: In the last 25 years, this AA group from the far north was probably the roughest group we ever had in the Lodge. They promised to bring 8 adults and no children. We counted at least 30 at one time, mostly young people. The first night they broke a $700.00 shower diverter and the loss of water was constant throughout their stay causing numerous problems with water pressure which were not completely fixed until they were gone.. They broke numerous water glasses, wine glasses, and plates. Somehow they even strained the electrical system to the point that they broke the breaker for the lights in the Great Room. They checked out at 1pm, three hours late. When they left, they took every roll of toilet paper, every roll of paper towels, and every trash bag. They trashed the Lodge leaving garbage and dirt everywhere. It took several days to get the strong smell of the hair gel out of the first floor. We have warned potential victims of this group in our review of them. All of the broken items were repaired or replaced within a few days of their departure at a cost of over $1,100.00. Again, this was probably the worst group in the past 25 years and was not at all representative of our clientele . Most of our guests have been wonderful and very considerate, especially since the 2016 fire which took 4 of our other cabins. Our guests understand that we have worked 100+ hours a week to rebuild our surviving cabins to new levels of excellence. They have returned year-after-year and have especially supported us this past year. Their kindness and generousity have helped us survive this singular ordeal.

The cabin was beautiful and the views and seclusion were amazing!

  • 4 of 5

This property is beautiful. It really is the best that Gatlinburg has to offer. It is tucked away and peaceful, but only 5 minutes from Gatlinburg and 10 from Pigeon forge. Other than a hiccup we had with water (which was quickly dealt with) the stay was amazing! The drive up isnt bad, all of our vehicals made it up and down with no issues and most of us has either crossovers or smaller suvs. The owners are great and worked with us on every question we had! A wonderful trip!

Great views, cabin pretty but a little run down

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed out time in the smokies, and this allowed a lot of people to stay together for a reasonable cost. There were lots of little things that weren't perfect - a broken window, not enough forks, showers that didn't drain properly - but the beds were comfortable, the showers hot, the view truly amazing. The drive up the mountain is rough! We did see bears not 100 feet from the cabin - amazing to see, but they do make a mess of any trash you leave outside, so be careful! Overall, though, our family enjoyed it very much. Thanks!

Amazing view and close to town

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our week at this vacation home. We spent lots of time in the hot tub and on the deck enjoying the view. The house accommodated our group of 16 perfectly. The location was very convenient to downtown Gatlinburg and great hikes and sites in the Smokies. The driveway was steep, but our cars made it up although it was a bit challenging for a standard vehicle. The owners were great!
