Go to traffic light #1 in Gatlinburg. Turn (the only way you can turn). Go ¾ of a mile to Kristis Place on the left. (If you get to an apartment complex, you have gone too far.) Turn left and go .4 miles. Spectacular Vista Lodge is the fourth cabin on the right and is much larger than all of the others.
Check-in: There is a lockbox next to the back door. The key to the cabin is inside the lockbox. Open the lockbox, take out the key, and go in. Check-in is that simple. Please text (865) 253-4626 several hours before your arrival with your cabin name for the most recent lockbox code and cleaning schedule. We are flexible on check-in and check-out times. Usually check-in is at 4pm but you can come in as soon as it is cleaned. Usually check-out is at 10am but we can often arrange a later time.
Pet Fee: Pets are welcome. Please add $48 to the total for the pet fee.
WIFI: We have Verizon Jetpacks for WIFI which can handle up to 10 devices at one time. We ask that you not download movies or videos though as each movie costs us approximately $30 once we go over our monthly limit.
Cancellation Policy: If you have to cancel, please give us as much notice as possible. We will return all of the deposit for all of the nights that we can rebook.
Reservations: To make a reservation, please send a request via email to the manager requesting the specific cabin and dates and wait for a responding email confirming the reservation. SENDING THE DEPOSIT DOES NOT MAKE THE RESERVATION. We make the reservation for the party who EMAILS us first requesting the reservation, not the one which sends the deposit first. Thank you.
Deposit: If you make a reservation, we ask people to send 50% of the total (or more if you wish) as a deposit. You can pay by check or credit or debit card if you have a PayPal account.

About Edward Bates
We have completed a Revolutionary, 4-part business plan. Originally, we built this cabin in 1993. We quickly developed a loyal clientele who returned year-after-year and sometimes several times a year. We were packed. We then changed to a management company which raised the prices and added extra fees and we lost our loyal clientele from the '90s. Now, here's our Revolutionary, 4-Part Business Plan. First, we created a product that is much better than it was in the '90s. We completely restored the Lodge to a condition even better than when it was new. Also, we reengineered the road to meet the highest city standards. Finally, we installed WIFI and 8 Flatscreen TVs in the Lodge, one 65" in size. Second, we removed the trees in around the Lodge to create, arguably, the best 180 degree view of the Smoky Mountains from the Tennessee side. You can literally see the entire Tennessee side of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Third, we decided not to require that the guests put the typical $100.00-$500.00 security deposit, purchase $39.00 insurance policy, or even a submit a credit card number! Everything's on the honor system! That's why the final bill is so low. The honor system is working. Not one item has been stolen or broken! Finally, we made the most Revolutionary move. We fired our management company, listed the Lodge with VRBO and slashed prices LOWER than in the '90s! This allows us to spend less time marketing and more time continuing to improve the property to the highest standards possible. Our corporate mission is the same as the Apple and Disney Corporations: to offer a great product at a great price and make people happy. Our 40+ 5 Star Reviews and repeat clientele show that its working. Please join our family of friends who vacation with us over and over 2016 Fire Update: We have tried to make it clear that we have a 40 mile view of the National Park and that most of the National Park did not burn. We have removed all of the trees in from

What makes this Cabin unique
The Great Smoky Mountains are our great love and passion. We believe you will fall in love with them too. The greatest compliment we have received on the property has come from about a dozen guests over the past five years who have asked, 'Is this a part of the National Park?' The boundary between our Property and the National Park is almost indistinguishable. The photos are real and not retouched. Remarkably, our forest appears to be contiguous with the National Park. We truly have one of the best views and one of the best locations in America.

Will not return will look elsewhere for a cabin
Nice house. It lacked cleanliness, safety and child friendly . Looked like windows upstairs were ready to fall out which is a safety factor, atrem doors downstairs were not safety someone could come in. Junk room downstairs needed to be in order or locked. Dishes in the cabinet Was Dirty with food on them (a few). I feel My cleaning fee was not put to good use (ladybugs, cobwebs behind beds), dirty floors and dishes. We was afraid to really stay there because of the doors downstairs there was one family that left Saturday because of this. The cabin is pretty
The Lodge is one of the safest buildings in one of the safest locations is Gatlinburg. It has never experienced a break-in or burglary in its entire 26 year history. There is only one road that leads to and from the Lodge and it is monitored with several security cameras and routinely patrolled by the police department. The Lodge does not have atrium doors. It has two sets of French doors on the first floor, each of which have three locks. There are two sliding glass doors for the view which are currently padlocked. The storage room is key locked. The other two doors on the first floor have key locks and dead bolts. The same is true for all doors on the second floor. The four large windows in the great room on the second floor each have THREE locking latches making it impossible to “fall out”.
This poor woman from the country (whose accent we had trouble understanding) confessed upon arrival that she had an anxiety disorder which included a generalized agoraphobia, a fear of heights and Vertigo. She also admitted that she had never been on a mountain before and that our amazing views of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park made her dizzy and nauseous. Apparently, Spectacular Vista Lodge is not for everyone. If you are looking for a house in crowded neighborhood with a view of a street and noisy neighbors, to paraphrase Bob Dylan, “It Aint Us Babe.” If, however, you are looking for peace, tranquility and solitude with panoramic vistas of the entire Tennessee side of The Great Smoky Mountain National Park on the side of a mountain with your own private road shared with only three other cabins located, unbelievably, only 5 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg, this is the place! One woman who fell in love with the rugged beauty of our mountain suggested the motto, “No wimps allowed.” We like that.
The cabin was beautiful! The water pressure was very low, the hot tub didn't work that well, the game room is hard to maneuver and its squeeky, but those were just small things as compared with all the great things. The view was wonderful and it made for wonderful wedding pictures. My whole family got to stay in one place and we had a great time. Less money than renting a bunch of hotel rooms and a better time! I would definitely stay here again! And Edward is sooo nice and accommodating! One of the drains was clogged and they came within an hour to fix it!
There were 15 of us and everyone had plenty of room to spread out. The view was stunning, and the kitchen had everything we needed plus a lot we didn't need. Plenty of dishes, silverware, pots and pans, 2 refrigerators and even a Keurig. They have quite a collection of DVD's and the kids and a few adults enjoyed watching Popeye while eating their breakfast. We loved that there was enough table space for everyone to sit down and eat together. I had read about the steep driveway and being the anxious person that I am really dreaded it but we all made it up and down the hill several times in all sorts of different vehicles and did ok. We all did an indoor waterpark at Westgate, the Ripleys aquarium and a hike in 30° weather and loved each outing.
Absolutely coming back! Highly recommend this cabin and the owners. It was great for a weekend away with friends and was so close to downtown Gatlinburg. Recent renovations were also really nice. Hoping to make this an annual trip!
Thank you for your kind words!
What a great view!
The weather was extremely cold when we were there, but the owner kept delivering firewood and even bought extra space heaters for us to keep us warm. The drive to get to the house feels like it's straight up so try to arrive in daylight for the first time you make the drive. An excellent place for extended families to stay. Very nice great room for gathering!
Our recent vacation experience was phenomenal and we enjoyed each day spent at the cabin!
Mr. Bates was one of the best cabin owners I’ve had the pleasure of renting from. We created so many first time family traditions and our kids loved the experience! Mr. Bates was very accommodating and was very available to us whenever we needed his assistance or had questions about anything. I would highly recommend this cabin owner to all! The view was breathtaking!
Thank you for your kind words!!!
