Wonderful mountain getaway!!
Our trip was amazing. We stayed at the home for 2 nights. We arrived to 4 inches of snow and woke up the next morning to about 7 inches. The house sits on a large open property that allowed lots of room for the kids to play. The house itself had lots of room and seperate spaces for us to gather. I also envision this being a wonderful place to gather for a trip down the new river. Great place. No complaints. And the view is spectacular
Stunning view. Private. Nicely appointed. This was far and away the best value I've ever experienced
Stunning view. Private. Nicely appointed. This was far and away the best value I've ever experienced. The house comfortably fit 8 adults. Do not worry about the lack of AC. We visited during August and it was not an issue. I tend to overheat easily. It was a nice touch to find window-mount fans near the kitchen, though. That kept the room cool enough for me to forget about a window AC.
A working dishwasher made clean-up easy. There was a large electric skillet that made cooking for the crew a breeze. Downstairs had an "in-law" kitchen if you were going to try to really go above and beyond on the cooking. There was a respectable flat screen downstairs. I heard nary a complaint on the comfort of the beds and futons. The router was blazing fast. I've got the same one on my Christmas list, now.
The house was clean. No need to check in, either. Simply show up and relax. There isn't much nearby, really. Jefferson isn't a sprawling metropolis, and you should know that already. There is a canoeing rental agency on the river very nearby. That will take up nearly a whole day if you want it to. Go to this property to get away and connect with friends. You will really need to find your own entertainment.
I'd recommend that the owners fix the air hockey and pool tables. They left a bit to be desired. The pool table was comically unbalanced. It became an awesome joke, though. It was like combining Putt-Putt and pool into one game. On second thought, it may be okay that way. These are small complaints that in no way take away from this property. I cannot undersell the view. Grab some friends and go.
Beautiful vacation home for the whole family!
My whole family loved this house. It was clean and well maintained and everything was as described. There were plenty of things for the kids to do (play outside, pool table, air hockey, ping pong, Wi-Fi) and the views were amazing! My picky 14 year old nephew even said he loved it. They also already have everything baby proofed, from guards in the electrical sockets to having extra doorway gates available so my two year old stayed safe. We loved this house and will definitely be back!
Thank you so much! We are so glad you enjoyed the home. We look forward to having you stay with us again!
A Spiritual Retreat Must!
Have stayed here so many times, twice to lead a retreat for Garden of Hope Ministries. Perfect for a private getaway or to take time to disconnect from the outside world and recharge. The grounds, I believe, are anointed by ab awesome Creator. You can enjoy His artwork the best at sunset and sunrise! Though there are a few updates needed - the house is fully equipped and offers everything you need!
The house was not exactly as described in the listing. There was no air conditioning as listed, and the grill that we were told personally was a gas grill was actually a charcoal grill. Because of this we ended up eating dinner the first night at 10 PM. The yard swing had tall weeds under it that should have been mowed and there were no chairs on the deck to enjoy the view. The pool table went unused as it was uneven and all the balls fell into the holes on one side with no effort at all. Another thing we noted was that the literature and direction postings in the house had discrepancies. It would be nice to have all information be the same.
On the positive end of things, the view is wonderful from the deck and from the gazebo. We took many pictures. The house is fully equipped and was clean. Fortunately, there were fans to use in the windows or we would have been very warm. We also enjoyed a movie night on the TV downstairs, as well as playing with the pegged Chinese Checkers board. Roasting marshmellows was also a highlight of our visit.
All in all it was a good visit. I would just like to have accurate information prior to arrival so it can be planned for. I wonder if the web site has a template that no one altered to actually fit the property as far as the amenities are concerned. We thank you for sharing the fantastic view with us and for the fans.
We so love hearing when folks enjoy this home... we never tire of seeing this incredible view and enjoy sharing it with others. We have added some porch furniture and are continually working to improve the amenities at Sunset on the Blue Ridge. Our home is cooled by wonderful mountain breezes and particularly the lower level stays cool year round. We hope you will join us again at Sunset on the Blue Ridge and enjoy all that the Blue Ridge Mountains have to offer.
Fall Outdoor Wedding
We wanted a mountain outdoor wedding in the fall not too far from Winston Salem, NC where our family lives. We heard about this place from our pastor and decided to drive up and check it out one day. As soon as we pulled into the driveway and walked into the back yard, we looked up to see a remarkable view of the mountain range my fiance and I realized this was the place for us to share our marriage vows. When we walked into the house, we became even more excited when we realized the house was big enough for our family and special guests. On a beautiful fall day in October of last year, we stood outside and shared our vows. We turned in into a big family reunion on both sides. Some members, the brave ones, even chose to camp outside in the back yard.
