About Bob and Rosey Susbury

Rosey is a lifelong resident of Byron and Bob, who grew up in a neighboring town, moved to Byron in 2002. Bob is an Electrical Contractor and Rosey owns the Coos Canyon Rock & Gift Shop just up the road from the Cabin.

The river is the common link which brought us together. We both were prospecting for gold in the same area along the river, and we found the greatest treasure of all -- each other.

We both love the outdoors and enjoy all of the activities which are provided through the nature that surrounds us.

We built this cabin together knowing one day we would build another home on a 100 acre piece of property which we own at the other end of town. Thus, our Cabin became available to rent.

Bob and Rosey Susbury purchased this cabin in 2005

What makes this cabin unique

The Swift River is the most important aspect of our property. Besides the fun recreational activities it provides, it is also soothing and meditative. Nothing eases the stresses of daily life better than spending time along the Swift River. And this cabin is built right on the edge of the water.

Home Away From Home

My husband and I recently spent a week at Swift River Pines Cabin. It was a great place to relax and unwind. Although it is convenient to the activities and sights in the area, it is also secluded, peaceful, and quiet. The cabin is clean, beautiful, and well-equipped, and as other reviewers have said, the photos do not do it justice.

Rosey was very helpful and answered all of our questions promptly. The information provided about the cabin and the things to do while visiting helped to make our stay enjoyable. We loved driving the back roads and our trips to Grafton Notch State Park, Rangeley, Small Falls, the covered bridges, and seeing a moose on our last night in Byron. The fall foliage was amazing while we were there, and we hope to return for another stay in the future.

Perfect, Peaceful, Private Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at the Cabin and loved every minute of it. From the moment we began communicating with Rosey on VRBO we knew it was going to be a great vacation. Rosey was more than helpful and patient answering all of our questions in a timely manner.

When we got to the Cabin we were welcomed by Rosey, who showed us around. She was so hospitable. We were a little taken back because the cabin was more than we expected. It was bigger than we thought it would be and we were so pleased to see how clean, neat, and organized everything was. Every room was beautifully decorated and stocked with everything you might need from home. You can see the River from almost every window.

The River flowing over the rocks has a nice melody and plays its own special song. It is very relaxing and also fun to explore and take a dip. You can even teach your dog to swim like we did. We were thrilled that pets are allowed at the Cabin and were very happy to able to bring our dog with us on vacation. The dog run was great. The private land to be able to walk the dog was so peaceful and helped our dog, who suffers from anxiety, find a safe place to be. He really enjoyed it.

We also enjoyed the fire pit, the hammock (no, the dog didn’t lie on the hammock), and relaxing on the back deck. There is also a horseshoe pit and there is panning for gold in the River. Rosey and Bob will get you started.

Rosey has a printed list for all the guests of things to do in the area. We took a few rides for some scenic views and saw the beautiful sunset at Height of Land. It overlooks Mooselookmeguntic Lake. We also saw two moose on the way back to the Cabin. We believe they were in Beaver Pond. They’re huge! Don’t forget your camera!

Rosey also leaves a little surprise for you which is so generous and such a nice touch.

All in all, you can tell we liked it very much and can’t wait to book our next trip to Byron so we can stay at the Cabin again. We highly recommend this wonderful private getaway.

P.S Although we never actually met Bob, we hear he is a great guy! :)

Serene Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This dog friendly family vacation surpassed my expectations. The layout of the land was perfect, private and lit by the moon. We spent most of our time outside playing and enjoying the beauty of the land and the river. We all had a great time playing and floating in the river. Lots of things to see and explore up and down river! Camp fire time was also another plus! GREAT fire ring, we cooked all our dinners on that. I did make side and things inside as the kitchen was also stocked with all the things you need for cooking.

At the end of our long adventure days and late fire nights, the kids found comfort inside. They had options of dvds, board games and wifi all provided. The house is cute and cozy so they had no problems. They even had night lights here. :)

I would definitely make a return trip and recommend this to any and every.

Thank you Rosey!

A fantastic getaway

  • 5 of 5

We were there over Memorial Day weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin is lovely, well appointed, very clean and beautiful. The Susbury's were great hosts, answered all our questions and made us feel right at home. The cabin is perfect for a group of 4 or even 6, but it was just right for the 2 of us. There's a full kitchen, a queen bedroom and bunk beds upstairs, along with a half bath. Downstairs is the aforementioned kitchen with seating for four, a living room and the jewel of the place in my opinion, a covered porch overlooking the Swift River.

The cabin is wood exterior and almost all wood interior, giving it a cabin feel but also a slightly modern vibe because it is fairly new and in good shape. The lines are clean, the floors in great shape, really an arcitectural masterpiece. There's a full bathroom with shower on the first floor, clean towels and linens. Windows with screens line the place every room has a great view. It is private and there is plenty of outdoor room for games, running, walking the dog.

Rosey owns and runs the Coos Canyon gift shop just a quarter mile up the road and is more than willing to answer any questions, help out in any way. It was such a relaxing enjoyable weekend. We went to Angel Falls (highly recommended) and drove around at dusk and dawn scouting for moose, which we managed to see. Four of them actually!

A great spot, wonderful cabin, gracious hosts... who could ask for more? We will definitely be back. Thanks so much! -- Tim & Mary

Beautiful Setting

I fell in love with the cabin on the website, but in person it was much more beautiful. The sound of the river was so relaxing. My kids loved it as well. Would recommend to anyone.

This was my first time using this site and I fell in love with the pics of this cabin. It didn't disappoint. We had such a fantastic time. The cabin was absolutely stunning and had everything we needed. We all enjoyed playing along, and in, the river. There was so much space for the kids to run around and play. I loved going to bed every night by the sound of the river and the kids loved the bunk beds. We took a drive up to Rangeley to Moose Alley Lanes. Such a beautiful ride. We would absolutely stay here again. Thank you so much for such a memorable family vacation!
