We really enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were big enough for two people each to share, and the house itself was big enough to accommodate 8ppl+, and more at times. Andrew was very friendly, and responsive throughout the whole stay. The location of this house is in a great neighborhood, and has copious amounts of things (bars, restaurants, trolley, café’) in very close proximity of the house. The house looks exactly if not better in person compared to the pictures, and has tons of space, and full stocked with everything (dishes, linens, etc). We all really enjoyed our stay, and making memories here. I highly recommend others wanting to enjoy New Orleans to stay here.
We enjoyed our stay and the house was perfect for our group. Very clean and in a very safe area on NOLA. Perfect distance from restaurants, bars, etc.
We enjoyed our stay at this property. The home was roomy and clean. Being just 3 short blocks from the streetcar was wonderful.
The only drawback was the street parking. Being right next to a bar, it was often difficult to find a spot nearby.
The house was perfectly clean and ready for our Big Smooze of 2016. We rented the 5 bedroom house to host friends and family from across the country. There was plenty of room for everyone to gather together both inside and out in small groups as well as all of us to be together in the big, comfortable living room. We had friends staying at several other places as well. The backyard was private and inviting. We used the limes from the backyard trees in our yummy drinks all 5 days of our stay.
The kitchen and refrigerator were spotless. The bathrooms were perfect with plenty of nice clean, fluffy towels. Everyone who stayed with us in this house commented on how very comfortable the beds were and what fabulous sleep they had. We didn't realize that two of the bedrooms were walk-throughs...our guests were all very accommodating of each other when they learned of the layout.
We stayed in the master suite on the ground floor. What a treat! Felt like royalty.
The neighborhood was friendly, inviting and walkable. The easy access to the fantabulous Magazine Street was great fun for our guests, many of whom had never visited New Orleans before. Staying at the house on Milan gave everyone a genuine taste of the beautiful architecture and gardens that so beautifully help define some of the best of the town, IMHO. The street car was one block north and also great for us and our guests. We wouldn't hesitate recommending this beautiful place to anyone with a large group.
We loved it!
The house is in a perfect uptown location--a short walk to either St. Charles or Magazine Street and a cheap uber ride to the quarter. There are five comfortable bedrooms, a well appointed kitchen with nice courtyard and deck on the back. The house is close to a neighborhood bar, The bar patrons are exceedingly friendly--one of them even bought us a round of beer. there was never any excess noise from the bar. We loved it. Earlier reviews had complained that the house was not clean. That was not our experience, it was spotless when we arrived. We were in NOLA for a family wedding, so The group was my husband and me and our adult children--who occupied the four upstairs bedrooms. All the upstairs bedrooms share one bath. The lovely master bedroom is downstairs and has its own bath. There is also ah half bath off the kitchen. For our purposes, this was perfect. I would definitely rent this again
I would like to start by saying that we, my family, has booked VRBO's for over 10 years now. This property , while large and convenient to area attractions, needs a lot of deep cleaning. It was the dirtiest place I have ever stayed at. Please hire a competent cleaning crew to get in there and scrub the place down. We noticed mold and black/orange gunk in the bathrooms and coming from the AC/heating vents. The surface of tables and night stands were just gross. One bedroom in particular had dried up contact lenses left on it, as well as glass rings and unsightly grime left behind. The rear door thresh hold was completely rotted out and water was coming in one evening when it rained. You have already created a huge repair expense here from neglect. I would question to say it would be easy enough to simply push the back door in if someone wanted to break in. The upstairs banister was too gross to touch and if you needed to grab it to steady yourself, it is so loose , it wouldn't help to steady your step. The kitchen could have been better equipped but we did make that work. Dusting cloths, dirty, and cleaning items were left out and there were no extras to be found, because I looked for them to clean up myself. Many of the sofa cushions were open and coming apart at the seams. Also prior guests clothing was left on the floors and under beds. This property has great potential. It needs to be SCRUBBED and painted. I cannot recommend this rental until the owner/manager makes huge corrections. The back yard had a lot of broken branches and palms hanging down out of the trees too. Again, beautiful yard. Needs LOTS of attention.
I booked the house for a girlfriends weekend to celebrate an ending-in-zero birthday. The four of us each had a bedroom to ourselves, very necessary for women of a certain age. The beds were comfortable and the neighborhood was quiet. It was an ideal Uptown location, a few blocks to the St Charles streetcar in one direction, and a few blocks in the opposite direction to galleries, shopping and restaurants on Magazine Street. The weather was great so we could enjoy the backyard deck.
I reached out to the owner a couple of weeks before our arrival because I was concerned about a negative review about the condition of the home that appeared after we had booked our stay. He was concerned about the review and assured me that his housekeeper does a good job and that we would find a clean house. He did mention that it is an older home and he plans to do some updates soon. Several years ago I lived in an apartment in an old Brooklyn brownstone so I totally understand the never-ending upkeep that is needed to maintain older homes.
Upkeep is one thing, dirt is another. The house needed a thorough cleaning. We bought some champagne and other goodies, but first had to clean the refrigerator before we dared to put our groceries away. There was some substance- don't want to even guess what it was- caked on the bottom of the vegetable bin. The coffee pot hadn't been cleaned, the sink was dirty and the microwave was full of splatters. There was a trail of crumbs across the kitchen floor and the glass table top was smudged and dusty. Then we moved on to the bathrooms which required a trip to Walgreen's for Scrubbing Bubbles, sponges and gloves. But the master bath shower stall needed a stronger cleaning product so I ended up putting a towel on the shower floor to use it. The baseboards throughout the house were dirty, and there were dust balls throughout.
I left a message for the owner who contacted his housekeeper and reported back that she assured him that she had done her job. This was just not true. I think the owner needs to go and do an inspection. I can't believe that he would find the home acceptable for guests. I'm waiting for the refund of the cleaning fee that the he offered.
This house has great bones, lots of room and a great location. It needs some investment (loose stair railings, old carpet, closet doors off track, etc) and a good cleaning crew. I hope the owner realizes its potential.
