Nice setting in Carneros, but overall not impressed for the price.

  • 3 of 5

When we arrived the house had not been cleaned from the prior guests, beds unmade and dirty, no clean towels, dirty dishes in the sink, etc. After several phone calls we reached the owner who sent out a cleaning service that did do a nice job cleaning the property. However, we ended up waiting 3 hours outside on the patio after our check in time due to the delay in cleaning. This was a major disappointment, as we had all flown great distances (one of us from India!) and were tired from the journey. We were disappointed the owner never called to check in that the cleaning was completed appropriately. Note that there is no hot tub as pictured in photos of the home. Overall the decor was dated and sparse. One of the three bedrooms is not a true bedroom and was merely a room closed in by curtains without any real privacy. Noise carried easily so if you stayed in the room without doors it was very noisy if other guests were awake or talking. TVs had basic cable, very old technology, WiFi did not reach all parts of the home. All bathroom sinks drained slowly, and were in need of some TLC. Fire pit worked well outside but did not generate much heat. The patio heater did not work. The Carneros resort is a lovely property with great restaurants on site which we enjoyed several times throughout the week. Central location between Napa and Sonoma. Overall, for less money a hotel would have been a much better option. Would not recommend to a friend.

Fun Girls Weekend in Wine Country

  • 5 of 5

Travelling with 5 other ladies with different personalities and different expectations, yet we all managed to have a blast in Napa while staying at this wonderful home. We were visiting from New York and South Florida and all wanted to move to Napa once we set sight on this resort. We took full advantage of the fireplace in the courtyard each night of our stay and did our own cooking in the impressive kitchen. There was a little confusion initially about which of the owner's two homes we were assigned to, but the discrepancy was resolved to our satisfaction by the owner. I would definitely stay here again - hope to get a chance to try the Bocci.

Fabulous Private Home Ensconced Within Majestic Resort

  • 5 of 5

Fire pit. Gas Grill. Outdoor upstairs living room lounge area. Courtyard with plenty of seating. Modern chic yet homey decor. 3 and a 1/2 baths. What more could you ask for!? This place is perfection for a weekend (or week long) getaway in Napa. We stayed for a too quick weekend in early May and were a group of 6 East Coasters who came out to celebrate a friend's upcoming nuptials with a little girls getaway to wine country. I could have stayed at the house the entire time!

Super clean. Three bedrooms. Two are super spacious, one is less so but still well appointed. Great layout.

Excellent location. Close proximity to fabulous wineries. Resort property is fantastic, though you cannot access the pool while renting via VRBO, but who cares?! 30 feet from the Boon Fly cafe which serves fantastic breakfast, lunch, coffee and cocktails. A 5 minute walk from a little general store on the resort property to stock up on some wine and food if you don't want to venture off the property when you first arrive.

We had an absolute ball during our stay, and I look forward to returning sometime soon!

Only suggestion would be to have the kitchen stocked with basic groceries a la salt, pepper, olive oil, coffee, etc...but that's always a perk if that comes included so no big deal. Also, the hot tub was not working while we were there. But we didn't mind.

All in all, this place is HEAVEN! Highly recommend!

Perfect spot in Napa

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our visit to Napa and we LOVED this home. It is the perfect location to tour the wineries. The resort is lovely and quiet, the courtyard is the perfect spot to relax with a book or hang with family and friends. The home is well appointed with everything you need to be comfortable. There are 2 things to be aware of: We traveled with another couple and a 3rd couple stayed for one night. There is a very private bedroom/bath on either end of the home with a 3rd bedroom in the middle. This 3rd bedroom doesn't have a door but a heavy, large curtain. It's perfect for a family or girls trip. Just be aware if you're planning for 3 couples, one will not have a door for full privacy. The other thing is that the hot tub was not working. I was disappointed but I found another one to use and it was lovely...ask the owner. The Market and Boonfly have delicious breakfast. The owner is very nice to work with and very accessible for questions. I would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend it.

What a fabulous Christmas vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 6 (my husband and myself plus 2 older sons and their respective girlfriends) stayed here over this past Christmas. We all agree that this fabulous property was the perfect backdrop for our wonderful holiday. We all enjoy being together but, this time, our enjoyment was enhanced by the appointments of this beautiful property which allowed us to do our favorite things -- talk, explore, relax, eat fine food and drink fine wines. Sigh, we had the best time cooking in that fully appointed kitchen. We spent many wonderful hours laughing, cooking, eating and, then, relaxing either inside in front of the fireplace or outside basking in the warmth and glow of the gas fire pit. Although the mornings were crispy, we spent hours on the upstairs deck watching the sun come up over the vineyards. I just can't describe that upstairs area . . . enclosed room with deck . . . you just have to experience it for yourself. Every bit of this property will blow you away. It truly exceeded every one of our expectations!

We had just one bitter note and it had nothing to do with this renter or his particular house. My husband and I made reservations for our Christmas dinner at The Farm restaurant. I saw a copy of their holiday Prix Fixe menu and thought that it would satisfy the palates of our San Francisco "foodie" family. I made reservations there through the Carneros Inn concierge a good two weeks before our trip. I was told that my reservation was confirmed and guaranteed even though a confirmation would not be emailed to me. Silly me, I decided to go on trust. Imagine my surprise when our group arrived at the restaurant in time for our seating and was told that our reservation had been mysteriously "cancelled" an hour before. After a few minutes of civilized discussion, we were pleased that not only were we all seated (in spite of that mystery cancellation) but we were seated in front of the fabulous fireplace. We couldn't have picked a better spot -- so, needless to say, that wound was healed. I just wish that the food had continued on that promise of a wonderful experience. It did not. The meal was mediocre, at best. Enough said. Personally, we will be back again to enjoy this lovely house, but, lesson learned, we will not go back to The Farm. Experience The Farm for yourself and make your own judgment.

You cannot go wrong renting from this owner. We will be back!

First Class Napa Style

  • 5 of 5

Truly an amazing indoor / outdoor house design that photos do not capture well. Great décor and linens, comfortable furniture. Plenty of places to curl up with a book, or to visit. Open kitchen is very nice with view into the courtyard and natural lighting. Only regret is that we could not stay longer. Best place we’ve stayed in Napa in over a dozen visits.
