Why JB Smith chose Gulf Coast

Nice and cozy... a good option!

  • 3 of 5

There were multiple pros and cons to this stay, but overall it was decent. I'll start by saying that your expectation going in (as always in life) determines your satisfaction with this place. It's not "upscale" by any means but we also weren't naming cockroaches throughout the trip. ;)

Cons: When we arrived, we were not greeted by anybody but that was fine, almost preferred? lol We did walk into a "not quite ready for guests" feel after arriving an hour late to the check in time, though it didn't bother us at all to be honest. (Maybe it would you?) MASSIVE amounts of yard clean up everywhere, the outdoor shower overgrown with the yellow flowering bush you see in pics, the picnic table covered in all kinds of stuff rendering it unusable, power tools on the floor in the living area, the non working ice maker in the sink and broken blinds in the bedroom. We're easy though so none of this bothered us (especially since it was mostly taken care of during some part of our stay). I'm simply stating for accurate review purposes. The only real reason I gave this stay a 3 and not higher though is sleeping arrangements. We came with 6 people (3 adults and 3 kids), none of which slept well AT ALL. The futons are extremely wobbly and hard, as is the bed in the bedroom. The headboard wasn't connected to the frame so the mattresses kept sliding away from it, giving room for the metal headboard to BANG at every movement. Also, as mentioned, the bed was HARD AS A ROCK!!! I hated it but my honey didn't so that's obviously just a preference.

Pros: We found it within our budget and mostly accommodating to all needs. The most important pro here is that all 4 of our labs were allowed to come and stay!!! Nice tile floors, upgraded counter tops, wifi and big screen with cable in the living area made the place easy to stay in for 3 days. The upstairs neighbor (also the cleaning lady) is SUPER nice and helped us prioritize and navigate our outings a couple times. She also let my son play with hers which is AWESOME! We loved all of the flowering bushes and huge grassy lots that really make you feel like you're on vacation. It's a nice quiet cul-de-sac which made us feel safe but in walking distance from lots of stuff! There were beach items provided as well which made packing for the trip light. (boogie boards, chairs, easy-up, etc) Another huge plus in my book is that JB was not up our butts the whole time like some other VRBO horror stories I've heard. Overall a win!

pleasant beach house

  • 4 of 5

The house was clean and comfortable. I would recommend the air mattresses over the futons for sleeping if there are more than two. The location does not have a beach view from any level, but the tropical landscaping makes the decks and porches a relaxing place to hang out. We were greeted upon arrival by property management and had no problems with anything on our stay. Close to the beach and loads of great restaurants close by. I would definitely recommend this rental to friends.

Cozy spot in a great location

  • 5 of 5

I recently rented Islantime Down for a weekend with my wife & 4 young kids. The unit is small, but well equipped and far superior to a 1 bedroom suite in a hotel. It's also nicely decorated in beach themes, and the back patio was great for an afternoon nap in the warm breeze.

Most significantly, the location is fantastic, walking distance to the docks, beach, and all the Port A restaurants. I would definitely recommend it for a short getaway.

Perfectly Cozy!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great experience this past weekend for beach to bay. Walking in, the house was warm and inviting! Perfect little beach get-a-way. We had 5 adults staying. Before arriving we were a little concerned about the one bathroom, but it was never an issue. We never felt cramped. Any questions we had JB was quick to respond with a call or text. We would definitely come back!!!

PS - We walked down to The Brewery for dinner one night and LOVED it. The food and service (not the mention the home brewed beer) were all AMAZING!!!
