4br Wine Country Retreat

Bedrooms 4
Space 2,232 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Lovely, bright. elegant, stunning decks & 1 acre garden.

4BR/2BA home with large, naturally-lit living spaces. The furnishings are mid-century modern and the feeling is simple, elegant, light and comfortable. The location is rural, scenic and quiet. The property is surrounded by oak, madrone, manzanita and Douglas fir that shelter and preserve your privacy.

Extensive, tiered redwood decks overlook a sunny garden and a rolling lawn. It is a perfect spot to sit out or indoors and relax with meals, wine, a good book, good friends and family. Through the surrounding woods one can peek at acre upon acre of nearby vineyards.

The great room includes a fully equipped kitchen with a large cooking island. There are 3 bar stools at one end of the island that promote conversation with the cooks. The comfortable dining table seats 6 and can be expanded to seat 10 or 12. A large window and three sliding doors give the great room easy access to the decks and garden.

The other group rooms include a spacious, more formal living room, and a separate sitting room with view of a tranquil rock garden.

Below the decks is an open, expansive lawn that wraps around a fenced-in chef's garden, a 35-vine zinfandel vineyard and a rose garden, all of which can help make cooking and floral arrangements a treat. Pick your own tomatoes, herbs and roses! The fence is designed to minimize sharing the garden produce with the deer that wander through every evening.

The master bedroom has its own sliding door and view to the garden. It has a bathroom, shower and jacuzzi. Two other bedrooms have queen beds, and one bedroom has twin beds. There is a couch that converts to a bed and can be opened for additional sleeping. A washer and dryer are available.

For venturing out, we are a scenic 10-20 minute drive to Healdsburg, Forestville, and downtown Santa Rosa. For outdoor pursuits, the largest nearby park is Annadel State Park where you can fish in the 26-acre lake, go birding at Ledson Marsh with its 130 bird species, or swim in Spring Lake. Similarly you can hike at Shiloh Ranch Reserve or head down to the Russian River for kayaking, canoeing or swimming -- all within a 15-20 minute drive. You might find yourself content, however, with just exploring our neighborhood.

For the cyclist, the options run from a relaxed bike ride through local vineyards to a long, rigorous but spectacularly beautiful century or two. Check online and consider joining one of the many organized rides by local bike and/or culinary clubs. There is also a collection of bike route maps available at the house.

About Sandy

I recently (2014) inherited Pinecroft from a very dear friend with whom I spent many tranquil or festive, idyllic hours cycling, cooking, gardening and wandering the trails and streets that surround us. I, our friends and my kids continue to do the same, We are hoping that you will enjoy it - and help us pay the upkeep so we can keep it! We cherish the opportunities to enjoy it and to share it. It is a truly special place.

Sandy purchased this house in 2002

Why Sandy chose Santa Rosa

We love Pinecroft for the feelings of serenity and beauty we experience while we are here and for the wide range of nearby activities adventures available.

Perhaps the most important reason for loving this property has been the food and wine. This property is not far from some amazing local restaurants, wineries and fruit and vegie venders. When I have been diligent we also enjoy the sublime pleasure of going to the garden and picking lemons, apples, lettuce, strawberries, tomatoes etc just in time for lunch or dinner.

What makes this house unique

Comfortable, tastefully decorated, beautiful, serene, secluded -- and yet, close to so much.

Guestbook comments from the owner

You all were wonderful! I loved the photos, our conversations and our laughs - and thank you so much for working with me and Lenniethe magician!

The property is so beautiful - the deck is surrounded by trees and is so peaceful - perfect place

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for our family that was attending an engagement party for our nephew. The pictures of this house and property do not do it justice - it is gorgeous! The house is fully stocked with everything you could ever need and plenty of room for our group. The decks were a perfect place to hang out with family and friends (Loved the lights in the trees) and the huge garden area was an added perk! I can not say enough good things about this property - we did not want to leave and we will be renting this place again when we come back for the wedding next year!

Lovely base in Sonoma Wine Country!

  • 5 of 5

Our family recently had a reunion at the Wine Country Retreat. It was wonderful. The house is clean, comfortable and beautiful - lots of open space to gather and visit. The outdoor decks and garden area were lovely - we enjoyed sitting outside with a glass of wine, admiring the flowers and watching the hummingbirds zip around! The kitchen was well equipped for cooking. Beds were comfortable. The location was convenient to Santa Rosa, wine country, and state parks for hiking, and it was extremely quiet at night. Great place to stay!

Beautiful home in Wine Country

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here on an adults only family trip and loved it! The location was great- minutes away from all major conveniences, yet felt like we were in the beautiful countryside. It was very secluded and private with a wonderful garden, decks and kitchen for entertaining. The bedrooms were all comfortable and the layout of the house is nice. We all agree we would love to come stay again!
