Massanutten For Kids II - w/ Playroom, ZipLine, and Low Ropes

Bedrooms 3
Space 2,560 sq. ft.
Property type chalet
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

Chalet, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Full Baths (Sleeps 6-8)

This classic chalet-style cabin is set back from the street at the end of a court on a beautiful wooded lot... one of the largest in Massanutten. It backs to common space and has ample privacy, yet is minutes from all Massanutten activities and amenities.

The cabin features over 2500 square feet of living space, as well as a wrap around deck and screened in porch. It's a great space for families, small groups, and kids of all ages.

The cabin has three levels of living space, three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a well-appointed kitchen, a walk-out basement, rec room with flat screen and Apple TV, a playroom for the kids, a flat driveway (a luxury around here in the winter), screened in porch, and a large wrap-around deck with a propane BBQ grill.

- For the kids - Inside

Every vacation home has a few board games and a deck of cards (this home is no exception), but we know how excited our own kids are when they find something new... so our playroom is stocked with blocks, dinosaurs, cars, trains, puzzles... etc. So there is plenty to keep even the little ones entertained on a rainy day.

- For the kids - Outside

And if its not a rainy day? We know that families come to Massanutten to enjoy the outdoors, and since our lot has such great outdoor space we wanted to provide some options for the kids right here at the house. We've set up a zip line, low ropes, and balance beam. Don't worry, the zip line and low ropes are VERY low (read: safe)… but we had a kid focus group one day and they all said that it was great fun.

- Amenities -

We designed and furnished this cabin with our own family in mind. We love the outdoors and open spaces, and we love the look of exposed beams and the classic chalet-style cabin... Inside we wanted CLEAN (our home ALWAYS will be) and we wanted modern decor and amenities. We offer high speed wireless internet access, a flat-screen TV, Roku (Netflix streaming included), and a fully stocked kitchen for all your culinary needs.

- Things to do -

We're located smack in the middle of Massanutten Resort, not more than a couple of minutes from all resort activities including the ski slope, indoor/outdoor water park, year-round tubing, two golf courses, go-karts, mini-golf, ice skating (seasonal), horseback riding, fishing ponds, playgrounds, and fantastic hiking. We have also purchased summer passes to the mountain-top outdoor pool for all of our guests. And of course, you can venture outside the resort to the nearby Shenandoah National Park, Shenandoah River, Luray Caverns, local wineries, lavender farm... etc. Options for outdoor entertainment in The Valley are endless.

- We make it easy -

We always provide our guests with linens and towels, dish soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, and other cleaners. We also provide starter sets of paper products like paper towels and toilet paper. Although we don't inventory other items, some essentials often stay stocked such as assorted spices, cooking oil, sweeteners… etc.

Just pack your clothes, a little food and drink, and your family and friends... and we'll always provide you with a great place to stay for your Massanutten vacation.

-NOTE- Must be 25 to rent.

About Matt Carrier

We met at James Madison and live in Northern Virginia with our three children. We volunteer at school, church, and with youth sports. We spend as little time as possible waiting in Tyson's Corner traffic.

We started coming back to The Valley a few years ago and found Massanutten to be the perfect weekend vacation spot for our family. This was something that I definitely did not anticipate as a ski instructor here in 1999.

We were very excited to purchase this home in the Summer of 2014, and have had fun preparing a great space to share with our friends and our guests.

Matt Carrier purchased this chalet in 2014

Why Matt Carrier chose McGaheysville

We love the activities that Massanutten Resort provides, as well as the proximity to the endless opportunities for outdoor recreation in the Shenandoah Valley.

We love the look and feel of this house, but it's the outdoor space that makes it. Many of the lots at Massanutten are on fairly steep slopes and the outdoor space isn't as usable as we would like. We really wanted the kids to be able to play outside, and we knew right away that we could create an outdoor space here that our kids would love. This relatively level lot is one of the biggest in Massanutten, it backs to common space, and the house is set back at the end of a court.

What makes this chalet unique

There are tons of activities at Massanutten Resort and elsewhere in The Valley, but you don't even need to go anywhere to appreciate the outdoors from this home.

If you want to leave the house in the morning and come back at night, then you can stay anywhere. We like this place because our kids don't want to leave... and that means we can be more flexible when planning (or not planning) our days.

Absolutely no complaints!

Traveled with two families, four adults and four kids under 4. Basement had a collection of toys and activities and plenty to do in the neighborhood (although make reservations in advance for the water park on weekends).

Everything is clean, functional and ideal for families with small children. Will visit again this summer

Wonderful experience! Would definitely stay here again!

The cabin was well maintained and kept up with. The owners were very accommodating and responded quickly when we contacted them. Such a great space for couples and families. Would highly recommend for others, especially those with children and big families. Thanks for everything!

It was so great!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for four days. The house had all we needed. My kids loved the playroom. It helped us relax a bit more since we did not have to tell our kids they couldn’t touch anything. It was a great location between the skiing and the water park. We will stay again.

Great Christmas Break!

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic vacation home!

Sometimes the description is overstated, but not here.

We arrived and the house was organized, clean and ready to go.

Our two grandchildren, Jack, 5, and Grace, 2, loved all of the various activities.

Water park is only a mile away and the ski slopes a short drive up the hill.

We had family come down from Winchester and the great room and dining room was quite well suited for entertainment! All and All a great find!! We will visit again! r, Scott

Wonderful house for kids and family!!!

  • 5 of 5

The kids were so excited when we arrived at the house. The play room was amazing for the kids along with the huge backyard that includes a zipline! The house was very clean and comfortable. I am glad we chose this house to celebrate my daughter's birthday in the mountains.
