About Rebecca Fields

We built this house as our family home. The kids are grown and we have moved to Belle Fourche for our retirement. We love the house so much we wanted others to build wonderful memories there just like we did with our family. We have had 5 generations grow up in Lead, SD and our hearts really are in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Rebecca Fields purchased this house in 1977

Why Rebecca Fields chose Black Hills

We have chosen to keep the house in the family because of the fond memories we have made there. Our 4 kids have grown but still bring their own children back to Country Heaven so they can experience the beauty of the Black Hills. We love walking out the front door and exploring our own backyard and having adventures every day. From hiking, biking, snowmobiling, downhill and cross country skiing our family has experience almost all the Black Hills have to offer. We often go camping, boating and ATV riding on the beautiful trails. We invite all of our friends to stay with us. You may come as our guests, you will leave as friends.

What makes this house unique

Waking up to a hot cup of coffee and looking out the picture window to the east is the best part of waking up here. Listening to the birds chirping and watching the deer graze in the front yard is as picture perfect as nature intended. The sun warms as it rises in the summer and you can play football, baseball or just stroll along the creek in the yard. In the winter we have great hills for sled riding and deep enough snow for the best snowmen! Being able to jump on the Mickelson Trail just down the road is great for bike rides to town or snowmobiling to the resort across the hills for lunch. As the sun sets you can sit around the fire and watch as each star comes out. Without the city lights drowning them out, you can count millions of stars above you on a clear night. An amazing finish to every wonderful day in the hills.

Outstanding area to be at for resting and close enough to stores for anything you might need. Great place with all that one would need. My family had a great time we were able to see so many things close by. We just loved the peaceful time in the morning watching the deer and turkeys go through every morning.

Our family had couple of tough years with loved ones passing away but being out in this cabin it helped us renew our faith in God and our family. We praise the Lord in knowing we will see them again, telling all the stories and sharing the memories just made us stronger and being at this cabin helped us do that

It was such a great place my brother said he found his new home and was not leaving, was tough for him to have to go back to CA with all the noise and hurried life.

We felt as though the outside was the best part. The inside was fine. The beds need new mattresses and with our group we could have used a few more nice towels. Overall we would stay there again as the layout of the home worked very well for us.

Enjoyable week

  • 5 of 5

What an outstanding week, the location was excellent, and it had everything we needed. We enjoyed watching wildlife every morning and evening while sitting on the deck. Families of deer, wild turkeys, mountain bluebirds, spectacular sun rises and sunsets and checking out the trout in the ponds made it so relaxing. We will be back and are already looking forward to spending another week here.

The property was clean, easy to get to, had good communications with Rebecca before and after, and didn't have any "surprises". We would definitely recommend staying here to our friends. If you like taking pictures, this is an excellent place to start in the Black Hills. The Rodeo in Deadwood was a must see along with walking the streets there and every other community we stopped in. We also enjoyed Spearfish Canyon Road, Iron Mountain Road, Needles Highway and of course, Custer Park. Buffalo are huge and when they decide to block the roads, you get to wait, which is a part of the Custer Park experience. Bighorn sheep and Mountain goats must also enjoy blocking roads and tunnels as we also stopped several times and waited for them to do whatever they wanted. And lastly, the Wild Burros. The grand kids totally enjoyed feeding them carrots on two occasions.

In conclusion, regarding the outdated rooms, and a few other slight inconveniences, who cares! We didn't expect the Hilton and had the trip of our lifetime. Nothing would have to change for us to come back!

Comfy Cabin in a Dreamy Setting

  • 5 of 5

I cried little tears of happiness when I stood out on the deck and realized I got to stay there for a while. I looked out into a wild flower studded meadow with a pond and stream going through. There were beautiful trees and green foliage surrounding the entire property. There were no other people in sight during our entire stay. The home was clean and had all the amenities we needed. The owners were wonderful to work with and were very helpful with providing information and prompt to respond if we had questions. Plenty of space. It was fun to have to two levels with the walkout basement. The great-room kitchen family are was fun and it was stocked with movies and games.

There were endless things to do in the nearby towns and many things to do and see. We even had great luck fishing in the nearby streams.

Can't wait to come back!

Thank you!

Nice place to get away from it all.

  • 5 of 5

Overall we had a great time. The cabin had everything we needed. The road was great for sledding. We used the deck to drink coffee in the morning. The barbecue was handy. It was a nice place to get away from it all. The lower level looks like it's been updated. The upstairs is dated. But the house was clean overall. We plan on staying here again. Thank you.
