This is a great place to taste the rich flavors of 100% pure Kona coffee, a rare commodity exclusively grown in north and south Kona. Peaceful and a place that we can grow wonderful things.
This place is absolutely beautiful and away from the hustle and bustle of the town. It's a ways UP the mountain, but it's certainly worth the trip! It was so quite and cool up there sleeping was wonderful. When we woke we enjoyed Kona coffee while staring at a 5 acre coffee farm and horses up the mountain. The studio contains everything you may need to prepare your own meals and a washer and dryer! The only thing that would make the studio even nicer is a larger fridge, that certainly won't stop us from returning to this spectacular place!!

The setting of the studio was rural and peaceful with an old Hawaiiana country feel. The room was, as some have noted, clean and modern with a comfortable king-sized bed. The two-burner hot plate, microwave, mini-frig' and toaster oven were enough for our needs, we ate at the coffee table on the porch. We did buy a fair amount of coffee at the tasting rooms, so having filters for the coffee maker would've been helpful. Having the Netflix and the beach gear were nice bonuses. I could see what others have said about the louvered doors, but there were no occupants on the other side, so privacy was not an issue. The location was great for coffee tasting and visiting Mauna Kea and the Kohala coast, as well as, Kailua Kona.
The studio is a room of a big house, with a good bathroom equiped with a wash and dryer machine, the kitchen has everything you need to prepare your meal and enjoy it. The bed is very comfortable, and the closet facilitates a lot the organization of your luggage. The wifi and Smart TV (youtube and netflix) are great!
The house is all the way up to the hill inside a coffee plantation, elevation of 650m from sea level, around 12km from kona pier. The temperature is very nice up there, the view is awesome and the farm is very quiet. Therefore, having a car is mandatory, about 20min to get to downtown. At night, you must keep the door closed to avoid any kind of insects and bugs inside the room.
I spent some days there in the ironman week, the city is full, but you can forget the caos when you climb the mountain to get to the farm. If resting is part of your plan, I highly recommend this stay. Otherwise, if you prefer getting out on your feet in the middle of downtown, this is not exactly what you're looking for.
The payment and damage refund were all ok.
Great location! A 5 acre coffee plantation with no nearby neighbors, but lots of wildlife - this was a perfectly quiet place and we loved it! The best review I could give it, is that we would stay there again. The studio had everything we needed and things we didn't think about needing. Like, a reusable shopping bag, a small cooler, a garden hose (to rinse our scuba gear), extra beach towels, a coffee grinder and more... The owners were extremely nice and helpful when we contacted them. We spent our vacation scuba diving and traveling the entire island. The drive up and down the mountain daily was not unenjoyable - I would recommend having a 6 cylinder car.
If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful place away from the tourists and crowds, then this place is for you. It's nicely tucked away up the mountain on a neat coffee plantation. During the day we had an occasional visit from a turkey or two and then at night we experienced beautiful, melodic serenading from other local wildlife (thinking this could have been a tree frog, but not sure).
Fully equipped to meet all your needs, this is the perfect place to come home to after a day out on excursions. The kitchen was way more equipped than we expected. We did our shopping for the week at Costco and made our own breakfast and dinner every day. The bathroom was also a pleasant surprise as well. There was a nice shower, with more than enough towels that were of nice quality. The washer/dryer set was also a bonus - especially since we were not used to the humidity and had difficulty with our towels drying on their own.
The owners were wonderful to work with. They responded quickly any time we contacted them. And prior to our arrival they sent us a great email with information on local restaurants and things to do.
The only negative I would identify is that the coffee jar was empty for our visit. Although I don't drink coffee, my husband was disappointed as this was one of the reasons for why he selected the property.
A bit of information for anyone else who may be a new visitor to the Big Island...do your research on activities prior to arrival. Most of the things that we chose to do ended up on the other side of the island, which made for quite the drive every day. But once again, this was the perfect place to come home to each evening.
My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this property to others.
The apartment had everything you needed. Upscale appliances comfy bed, extra towels, smart TV. It was a very nice location no people ( never met owners Beth and Roger ) The owners were very responsive when we had one issue with the new apartment and the handyman was there within hours to do repair. On our last day I met the owners brother turned out we went to the same high school and we were only one grade different. Kona is a small world ran into a few people i had known from Seattle or Oregon. I wanted to do something different then stay at the beach so staying on a coffee plantation sounded fun. We could hear the birds in the morning. It was close to the airport and close to Kona. It was a rare find on the island.
Holualoa Village has wonderful local art gallery's and the Coffee festivities. Don't forget to looking down on the coastline at this vantage point is amazing.
