Comfortable hill country cabin
Stayed a few nights with my wife and our 10 week old daughter. Cabin was comfortable and conveniently located to areas we wanted to visit. Nice sunsets and sunrises on the porch. Short walk to the lake. We really enjoyed our stay.
Nice and had plenty of room for everyone
Evevryone enjoyed the house and the quite neighborhood
comfy home, quiet street
We are so glad you had a good vacation! Thank you!
The house was very clean and comfortable. Very quiet neighborhood with lots of deer. It also has an attached carport, great for people on bikes.
Great Family Lake House!
My family had a wonderful time at the lake! The house was comfortable and spacious, even for 9 adults and 5 children! It was a quick walk to the lake, and we really enjoyed floating around all day. The kids (and adults) also loved seeing all the deer roaming around. The only "negative" things I have to say is 1) that I wished there would have been more towels/dish towels and 2) a couple of the dining room chairs/stools seemed a little wobbly and we were afraid they might break when we sat on them. But, overall a great house in a quiet neighborhood!
Thank you Emily! I'm so glad you guys had fun.
I will make sure our cleaning team leaves more towels out, we actually should have 10 towels per bathroom. They may have been stored under the stairs, I apologize. Thank you for the heads up regarding the chairs as well. I will get those fixed immediately.
Well supplied, but definitely not clean and maintained, pictures make it look much better than it is
We arrived at the house on 7/5/17 to a note that said please excuse the ceiling in the master (the AC drain had clogged and leaked on 7/3 and they didn't have time to get someone out there to fix it - understandable if that's the date it actually happened but it looked like it had been there a while).
Also, the pictures of the lake are NOT from the house, they are from 4-5 houses down at the boat ramp/small park around the corner. There are houses across the road in front of this house so there's not much lake view or any access straight across.
There also was no air hockey table or cold tub that were mentioned in the ad when we booked.
We did notice while unpacking that the house was fairly dirty - cobwebs, dirty windowsills, nasty stained carpet, a wet blanket in the master closet floor along with dirty sheets, master closet door off its tracks, a box with trash in it above the cabinets in the kitchen, and more I'm sure I'm forgetting. We even found a previous guests' credit card that they had failed to find while "cleaning" between guests.
When my niece went to take a shower upstairs she found a lizard in the shower. She decided to shower in the downstairs master instead where she found 3 water bugs as soon as the water was turned on. When this was messaged to the owner, she simply apologized and said that bugs "happen" this time of year and they spray regularly (even though these bugs were very much alive and not dying) and that she'd mention the cleanliness to the cleaning company.
When we pulled out the couch bed in the game room the first night dead bugs fell out of it so it hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long. Shortly after that my S-I-L had to go to the ER for her allergies because her eyes were swelling shut and her throat was getting itchy bumps in it (note: she's allergic to dust and roaches to name a few things). After that we stayed outside as much as possible to try to enjoy our vacation and her not have any more reactions to the house - although her eyes would swell and she'd have to take the medicine the ER gave her each night when we came in.
When we showered upstairs the tub was VERY slow to drain so you would stand in a couple of inches of water every time you showered and the sink didn't drain well in that bathroom either. We also noticed a bad sewer smell in the yard after a only few showers were taken that would come and go.
The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed though & the extra toys were nice for kids.
Whitney, I first want to thank you for taking the time to write a review on this platform and allowing us to address the concerns you have expressed in a way that allows any future renters to hear both sides of the story. In regards to the first concern, the renters before you checked out on 7/2 late afternoon and the morning of 7/3 when our cleaning company went to the home to clean, they found the leak in the ceiling that was mentioned. The way the home is designed, that is where the AC condensation line runs and it had a small clog in it so it backed up. We immediately told our cleaning company to turn the air off and contacted KRS air to come out and repair it. I then contacted our contractor who due to the next day being a holiday (July 4th) could not get out in time to repair the sheet rock until after your stay. These things happen some time and believe me I lost sleep over having the home in this condition for you, but thought it was a better option that canceling on your family at the last minute. I then drove over 3 hours round trip to write you a personal note, check the home to make sure the AC was working and the leak had been dried up. I apologize the wet towels were looked over, I did not check the master bedroom closet while I was there. I do have all of the corsp. to prove the timeline of this if you wish to see them. I also apologize that the timing of this was less that desirable as I was leaving the country on vacl on 7/6 and my communication with you during your stay was difficult. I was getting messages, but on a delay from you. To address the cleanliness of the home, I did receive messages from you regarding the credit card and a few bugs, however there was never any mention of the dirty sheets, wet towels, trash in the kitchen OR that your sister had to be treated at the ER due to something in our home. If I would have been made aware of those things, I would have insisted our cleaning co. go back out and clean again for you guys. That is below our expectation and we depend heavily on our cleaning company to be our eyes and ears and trust they will clean our home as we expect, but sometimes they make mistakes. As you can tell from other reviews this has not been an issue in the past. Being in the country, near water and heat, bugs will get in daily no matter how well the home is clean. The air hockey table was damaged by guest and was recently removed, the cool tub was attracting mosquitoes and was removed. I will update the listing
