Affordable and Spacious First floor, 3 Bedroom, 2 Bath Condo in the Savannah Historic District near Forsyth Park. There is always plenty of free non-metered street parking in front of the property.

This property is in an excellent location for attending events anywhere in the city. Great for families, weekend getaways, bachelorette get-together, happenings at Forsyth Park, attending wedding events, holiday celebrations, shopping, sightseeing, golf excursions and an easy drive to the beach at Tybee Island.

Located in the Landmark Historic District it is close to everything that Savannah has to offer yet outside the congestion and overnight parking issues of the main tourist area. Perfect for sightseeing, either on foot or by car or use the free shuttle service (for information on the free shuttle do a Google search on "Connect-On-the-Dot"). There is even a full service grocery (Kroger) just a short walk away.

A historic home with all the modern conveniences. This beautiful first floor (street level) 3 bedroom 2 bath condo boasts 1300 sq ft, sleeps 6 comfortably is very clean and well maintained. It includes a private entrance, 3 queen size beds, master bedroom has en suite bathroom. Unit includes hardwood floors, central air, ceiling fans, cable TV, flat screen TV, Wi-Fi, washer/dryer and much more.

Forsyth Park is a leisurely seven minute walk, nearby free shuttle service and full service grocery (Kroger) just minutes away. Dining, antique shops, entertainment, museums, numerous parks and squares, River Street, and many other sites and activities are a quick drive away, or walk and wander to take in all that Savannah has to offer. Tybee Island is an easy 17 mile drive.

With its rich history and some 200 city-wide festivals and events each year Savannah is the place to be.

We love Savannah and all of its history and charm. The genuine friendliness of the residents and visitors is second to none. It has great restaurants, entertainment, shopping, nearby beaches and countless other activities. With some 200 city-wide festivals and events each year there is always something to do and someplace to go.

What makes this condo unique

Place yourself in Savannah's rich history. This property was completely renovated to help preserver the historic charm and significance that keeps Savannah a unique and beautiful city. The exterior maintains the period correct architecture while the interior has all the modern conveniences and comforts.

The original structure has been described as Vernacular Neoclassical Revival, local interpretation of a combination of Georgian Revival and Edwardian architecture. With its pediment porches and two-story porticos supported by round columns, the building has been formally identified as being of 'significant value as a Classical Revival apartment house.

Originally set aside as 'Garden Lots' in General Oglethorpe's original town plan of Savannah, the land would become known as the Beach Institute Neighborhood. Early records find that in 1782 the land, named Fairlawn Plantation, was a working rice plantation. In 1853 with the advent of the Savannah & Albany Railroad, construction of Savannah's East Side began in earnest. Workers for the railroad were in need of housing and developers capitalized on that need by developing land tracts slated for building lots.

Of interest, is that a single African American woman, Mary Ellen Richardson, wholly developed the property. She owned the property from 1868 until her death in 1929. Somewhere between 1898 and 1916 the original structure was replaced with the building that stands to this day.

Mary Richardson's also built the Carpenter Italianate row house as well as a single-family dwelling in the same area.

CLEAN CONDO CLOSE TO FORSYTHE PARK

This condo was very clean. It has everything you need in the kitchen to cook meals and make coffee in the morning. There were six adults in our party. We gathered in the living/dining area and between the two spaces there is room enough for six. Parking on the street was fine, just pay attention to the signs. You can easily walk to Forsythe Park and the Kroger Grocery store but River Street is a bit further. I believe it is about a mile and a half. We were able to drive to River Street and find parking in the city lots without a lot of trouble. A nice stay overall. Good value and a chance to gather in one location instead of renting three separate hotel rooms.

Overall,a great place,with one major exception.

This was a very nice flat,in a great location. I loved the overall layout,look,furnishings.

The beds,(mattress,box springs,etc) were sub par,and need to be replaced.

Very uncomfortable,and worn out. The sheets and pillows were also very cheap (100% polyester,and very thin). This naturally affected my sleeping over a 5 day stay. I was very happy to not have to face another night on the bed. (Mine was the front/master bedroom,but my other guests were not very happy with the beds in their rooms,either.)

Other than that,which unfortunately is a major thing for me,i would recommend this property to anyone.

Owner's Response: Thank you for confirming the unit is in a great location and has a good layout and furnishings. Sorry your stay was uncomfortable. I don’t agree with the two star rating, given all the positives of the unit, but I do understand the displeasure. Mattresses, pillows and sheets are the most difficult things to get right so everyone is happy. Everybody has their preference and no one mattress will meet that. I have reviews that state the mattress was too hard and others say it was too soft. I feel a little bit like Goldilocks and the Three Bears at this point. The mattresses are good quality (though others may disagree, obviously). As always, I’ll look into these concerns.

Nice location but bring shower soap and earplugs

This condo was very clean but stripped down to bare minimum supplies. It would have been nice to have a little bar of soap in the bath and a hairdryer. Also for safety in the slippery showers a non slip mat or rough tub stickers.

Noise is an issue here. Every little footstep and scraping chair from above is heard. Bring earplugs for sleep.

Owner's Response: Thank you for confirming the great location and cleanliness of the unit. The unit is well stocked, as noted in other reviews. Hand soap, dish soap, paper towels, paper napkins, laundry detergent, toilet paper, bath towels, hand towels and extra sheets are provided. Sorry there was no bath soap but the VRBO/Homeaway website states numerous times that bath soap and shampoo are not provided and hairdryers are not listed as one of the amenities (though I will consider adding hairdryers). Bath soap may be something that a chain hotel will always provide but they can’t provide a spacious three bedroom two bath accommodation in the Historic District at a fraction of the price. Sorry about the noise issues. Sometimes guests in the other unit can be very active. To help reduce noise intrusion I will be adding a large throw rug in the kitchen/dining area of the other unit. The tubs have a no-slip surface but I’ll check into this. UPDATE: A rug has been added to the kitchen/dining area of the other unit. This should reduce noise concerns considerably.

Well Kept Home in Savannah

We rented this home for a girls weekend in Savannah. We had a wonderful time! The rooms are large and nicely appointed and the bathrooms are updated and clean. The owner couldn't have been more accommodating and responsive to all my questions. I would definitely recommend this home to all my friends and family.

Had a great time

The unit was spacious and clean. The home was refurbished beautifully and the kitchen had all we needed. Getting in was convenient and easy. Once inside it is all on one floor which convenient for older travellers. The master suite mattress needs replacing. There were 5 of us and we were very comfortable in the space. Having the Kroeger's so close by was convenient. We loved Savannah and walked everywhere. We will definitely return and would be happy to return to this rental property.
