About the property

Quiet Studio On 1 Acre With Loft; Sleeps 4; Five Minutes To Downtown

Perfect Retreat For A Couple Or Family

Copper Basin Hideaway is located just five minutes from the Historic Prescott Downtown Square where most of Prescott’s “hometown” events happen: street fairs, live theatre, shops, dancing at one of the many “saloons,” antiques, restaurants, museums and more.

As you leave the square towards the cabin, you ascend an additional 700 ft. into the tall 80 ft. Ponderosa Pines and Oak trees to a quiet, peaceful hideaway. The cabin sits on 1 acre off a private street with only three other homes. If you like a peaceful environment, this is the place for you -- if you listen, you can enjoy the sounds of many kinds of Southwestern birds, and you might even catch a glimpse of deer, javalina, squirrels or rabbits.

This classic A-frame cabin was built in 1989 and restored in 2004. The back deck stretches the length of the cabin offering a retreat for reading, enjoying the views and natural spring, or grilling out for an evening at home. Inside, enjoy games with the family, or watch a cable TV program or watch a DVD. Redbox is located in the Safeway store just 4 minutes away.

This unique cabin is also .5 miles from the Prescott National Forest where there is a web of trails for both hiking and mountain biking. You can ride or walk right from the cabin, or drive to several places up the mountain designated for parking. Just bring your bike or hiking shoes and we’ll provide the maps!

Prescott also hosts many annual events. Just a few include: Whiskey Row Off-Road Mountain Bike Race (April); Whisky Row Marathon and Highland Games (May); Frontier Days, the Prescott Rodeo, 4th of July celebration/parade, Indian Art Market (June/July); Prescott Film Festival and Cowboy Poets Gathering at Sharlot Hall (August); Acker Music Festival and Christmas Courthouse Lighting/Parade (December). Other activities include: canoeing/kayaking and fishing at Goldwater and Watson lakes, museums, live theatre, restaurants, craft/art shows, and much, much more.

Copper Basin Hideaway is perfect for one couple or a family of four. This studio cabin has a comfortable hide-a-bed (with memory-foam cushion) and two small rooms in the loft, each with a twin sized bed. The main area of the loft has two cozy bean-bag chairs which make a nice retreat for reading or for the kids to play some games. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes and other utensils, as well as a refrigerator, stove, microwave and toaster oven. The propane grill is ready for use and the window off the kitchen has a “pass-through” screen for easy grilling preparation. The cabin also has a wood stove where you can enjoy a cozy atmosphere in the winter months ... we even provide the Firelogs from December through March!

Please contact us with any questions. We hope you enjoy your stay at Copper Basin Hideaway!

About Janet Conrad

We fell in love with Prescott and moved here 12 years ago. After enjoying the wonderful activities, historical sites and outdoor adventure, we decided to purchase this cabin for others to enjoy.

Janet Conrad purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Janet Conrad chose Capital Territory & High Country

Unlike many of the rentals in the Prescott area, this cabin is set in a very quiet, private section of town, with the unique bonus of being only 5 minutes from the activities on Whisky Row - Historic Downtown Prescott. You will feel like you're in the middle of the forest, but with easy access and paved/maintained roads - it's a true Cabin Hideaway!

What makes this cabin unique

Large deck with grill for enjoying the mountain air; Inside fireplace/stove for crisp winter nights; Access to the Prescott Hike/Mountain Bike trail system; Five minutes to the Prescott National Forest.

Cozy cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

This cozy cabin was perfect for our Thanksgiving weekend, it had everything we needed. We came up from Phoenix to get away from the city and didn't see anyone while at the cabin, yet we were close enough to town to run to the store if we needed something. Janet made sure everything was perfect for our arrival and everything was just as described.

Peaceful amongst the ponderosas

  • 5 of 5

This cozy cabin was our home away from home for a week and we loved it. It's only 10 minutes from the restaurants downtown, and just 0.5 miles from a trail into nearby Prescott National Forest (Thumb Butte is a 10-mile roundtrip hike through the forest). The cabin was our homebase for day trips to both Sedona and the Grand Canyon. The sleep sofa was surprisingly comfortable and we saw loads of birds (woodpeckers and nuthatches) plus mule deer right from our deck. Highly recommended for a couple wanting peace and quiet, or a family of four (the kids can sleep in the cute loft). The only issue we had was with the wifi, and Janet rebooted the router for us when needed so all was good!!

Very cute place

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is on a great spot, the view from the kitchen is so peaceful, hard to belive it's so close to town.

Everything is well kept and clean.

It's a very small place, but has everything you might need.

A gem in the woods close to it all.

  • 5 of 5

What a peaceful place with beautiful views of the forest all around. It is like being in a tree house with every modern convenience at hand. We open all the windows and the front door to let nature in. Spent most of our time on the huge porch overlooking the trickling creek below to take in the sounds and sights and smell scents of the surrounding woods. Saw deer, squirrels, crows, wood peckers, rabbits, coyotes and more from right there. Sunsets and starry nights followed. Enjoyed town in just a few minutes drive and went to a lake for a picnic lunch. Explored trails and enjoyed sitting in Adirondack chairs by the footbridge while sipping a glass of red wine after dinner right there at the cabin. Janet provided all we needed in the cabin and provides a most cozy and comfortable place to unwind and refresh. We will be putting this one in our favorites.
